Wand in hand, I crept toward the corner of the room. The sounds were coming from behind one of the heavy, tapestry curtains.

\"PLEASE NOOO!!\" Ginny was screaming now.

Without further thought to the matter, I pulled the curtains back briskly, wand still in hand. Adrenaline was coursing through me.

Ginny screamed.

I jumped back. It was only her. Alone. She had been having a nightmare.

She startled herself awake, and looked up at me in fright. It was as though she didn\'t quite recognize me.

Suddenly, you could see it hit her, the realization of who I was. The tears began to flow, and she put her arms out to grasp me.

I pulled her towards me.

\"Gin, it\'s okay...shh...it\'s okay.\"

She continued to sob. I felt so useless. Her grip around my neck kept tightening.

I sat down next to her on the window seat. Without hesitating she immediately climbed into my lap and curled up, like a tiny kitten. I cradled her and kept saying reassuring things to attempt to calm her down. Eventually the sobbing stopped and her breathing got slow and heavy. She was asleep again.

I didn\'t dare leave her alone. I mean, I couldn\'t. I couldn\'t take the risk that it would happen again, and I didn\'t want her to be alone.

Carefully, I stood up, still holding her. I carried her over to her bed, and laid her on top of the bedspread. I managed to get her arms loose from around my neck, and went back to the window seat. I picked up her book, put it on her nightstand, and closed the curtains. I walked quietly to the bed and transfigured her clothes into a pair of flannel pajamas. She made a soft cooing noise when I lifted her up and pulled the blankets back. Once again she had her death-grip on me, as though she didn\'t want me to leave. I didn\'t know what was appropriate, as far as sleeping arrangements went.

I hesitated a bit, before deciding to crawl under the blankets with her. The sheets were cool, and I immediately felt her move her feet under the bottom of my pantlegs, pushing them up to warm her feet up. I smiled at the sheer girliness of the act. She murmured softly, not forming any real words, just sounding content in having a physical safety net.

My chest tightened. I had an inkling about what she had been dreaming of. I only knew bits and pieces of the story, never entire details. I don\'t even know if I could handle her experience in its entirety.

**(flashback)**

It was the end of Ginny\'s 7th year. She hadn\'t spoken to me in quite a few months. Sources told me that Voldemort still believed she was close with me, and that we were merely pretending to be distant. I would go through her brothers: Percy, George, and Fred were all Aurors now. We\'d update them and they\'d arrange to make sure Ginny was safe, that someone knew her whereabouts at all times.

Draco Malfoy\'s father, Lucius, was assigned the task of getting Ginny. Literally getting, as in kidnapping. Draco had joined his father, and devoted his life to the aid of Lord Voldemort. It was hard to get to any student who was still on Hogwart\'s grounds...everyone knew this. Few individuals would risk Dumbledore’s wrath, but Lucius feared Voldemart far more than Dumbledore. Dumbledore, in Lucius’ opinion was merely a demented old codger.

Draco was sent to help his father. Draco was set up in an apartment in Hogsmeade, under the guise that he was taking time off after school before deciding on a career. It was during a visit to Hogsmeade that Ginny was abducted. She had gone missing for a total of 16 days.

The obvious place to look was Draco Malfoy\'s apartment. Aurors could find nothing amiss. No signs of him contacting Voldemort, any of his other operatives, or even his father. Draco was smug. Ginny was finally located at Malfoy Manor, in a basement dungeon. Her body broken, I could only guess what had happened to her.

**(end)**

Ginny twitched lightly in her sleep. I pulled her closer to me. I had let her go once, I wouldn\'t let her go again. I would just have to get her to stop pushing me away.
