Explanations and riddles in dark dreams

7

Harry relaxed as he allowed Xaivier to open the path to him mind. Harry had requested that he go alone as he was sure his mind would put up some defense, as it had when all three of them had journeyed here a month ago. He looked around as his mind felt like it was being rinsed under a faucet.

~~~~
Quickly regaining his senses, Harry noticed a place he had seen so many times in the last year. A rom full of jumbled images and mixed feelings and deep secrets. He had simply thought the dream was a reflection of his inner struggle to find himself. It certainly did have that look, the confusion and helpless feeling as strong as steel beam that seemed to nest itslef in his chest.
As he fought with his own self depictions, he began to feel a gentle wind. The wind seemed to carry a soft caress, like that of his lover's gentle whisper. He listened intenly, hoping the wind would speak and show him the way. He started to walk in exasapiration, considering that this might be the longest quest he had ever, willingly chose to embark upon.
Just as he sighed the wind spoke softly, "I am where Happiness and fear meet, I hide behind fear." The riddle had reminded Harry of his Dream, the boy he'd seen but never quite reached was near his dementor memory. "Great, you couldn't hide it somewhere nice, like next to a memory of Sirus?" Harry muttered bitterly. He looked around slowly, then it had occured to him that he should look in a place that would look like fear. If this place was any indication, his mind would manifest whatever major memory he was near.
Not quite sure if he was right, but with no other decent ideas, he set off to a place that felt the worst. Harry had felt fear so many times, but this was his own mind. Somehow, it was much, much worse. He began to shiver as he appoached a dark and angry tunnel.
~~~~
As he reached the opening, he had the very distinct feeling of being watched. He felt a shiver creep up his spine and the fear he already carried multiplied three fold. "Come this way." A voice softly hissed as a shadowy figure seemed to suddenly absorb light and become visible. Harry froze and the figure in front of him.

The figure that stood in front of him looked just like him, except for his mouth which had a very evil grin across it. It's teeth were sharp and looked like several small spear heads smashed together. "Who are you?" Harry asked as the dark Harry walked towards him. It's eyes were as creepy as Mad-Eye Moody's and Harry found himself oddly captivated by the creature's gaze.

"Come now Harry, I shall explain on the way." dark Harry hissed gently. Harry shivered again, but decided to follow. "I know what it is you seek." He continued staring straight ahead. "You are correct in what you think, but you aren't quite sure of the reason it happened." Harry nodded in response and felt foolish. His other half stopped abruptly outside a door and directed Harry to sit on a bench, ehich had suddenly appeared in front of it.

"Are you my dark side?" Harry asked in a low confused whisper as his other half sat down on the bench next to him. Harry noticed the creature consider a few things before he continued. "Yes, and no." Harry watched as he looked up towards the celling. "I am the scar, I am what's dark and I am what connects you to him." Harry froze. If this was true, he thought to himself, then that meant he was in deep trouble.

His dark half gave a small laugh and said, "No, I am not a spell. Well, not entirely." He paused to look at Harry. "I am your dark side, but I am also the reminants of the failed killing curse." He raised his hand to stop Harry from opening his mouth. "I was not originally in this form you see before you." He gestured tward his body and smiled, showing his particularly evil grin. "I first took shape in your third year, that's why you began to expirience deeper connections to my master. Do not worry, I will not harm you, I am you." Harry tried to calm down, but his efforts were in vain.

"The darklord could feel our connection and began to use it." The creature seemed very distressed. "I tried to tell you, but I couldn't reach you. The power of your will locked me away. I was still able to be used by Voldemort. When you made your last journey here, I shot you with a reminant of the curse. We are now connected." He looked very pleased with himself, but Harry was still frozen.

"Harry, it's time for us to be one." Harry violently recoiled at those words. His dark half smiled, but Harry could tell it was a sad smile. "We must be one. You continue to deny me and your enemies will use me, you will die." Harry had grabbed a hold of his thoughts and sat upright.

"How?" Was all Harry could muster. His other half smiled and said, "Just take my hand, but I must warn you, you will no longer have the powers that you used to. When we are one, you will only feel the pain, Voldemort can no longer control you, or your mind." It's soft spoken manor caused Harry to question him.

"Why?" Again, one word was all he could manage. "Because, I am you, I am yours, not his. Our darkness is not for his use. The vengence you had when you thought Sirius had murdered your parents gave me life. I was there the night you almost attacked Dumbledore. We were almost one then, but you let go before it was complete."

Harry understood all this, but he still wasn't sure what to do. The creature's voice was now a low hiss. "You still have the power he transfered to you. The sight will be gone, but you can compensate." Harry looked caught up in turbulant thoughts, everything shifting as great wheight was placed on him.

Finally he relented. Offering the creature his hand and giving a nod, he waited. He felt and icy hand clasp his and he closed his eyes. Through the lids, he could see bright green light and then, his scar burned violently. So much it burned, Harry wanted to stop, but he was frozen in place. There was no way back, silently he prayed that he had done the right thing.

When he opened his eyes the dark creature was eyeing him. "Before this form disapears, I need to tell you three things; First is, The man behind the mask, is looking for the book with the pages torn out. Second is, when two share one face, the father will revive. Last, He will die, yet he is not dead. I must leave you, please remember what I have told you. Once these things come to pass, I shall return."

Harry felt as though he had suddenly woken up. Realizing where he was and what he was supposed to do, he collected himself and walked to the door in front of him. With one turn he opened it and saw exactly what he had been looking for.

~~~~
The room was exactly as it appeared in the dream, made even more ominus by the stiff sense of powerful deja-vu. Harry stepped into the room and knelt down next to the young boy, who was weeping softly. He had meant to say something, when it hit him who this was. Looking at the blonde hair and now, soft grey eyes that looked up at him, silently pleading. This was a young Draco Malfoy.
Smiling softly, Harry thought for a minute. "Why are you crying little one?" He asked watching the small boy's expression change. "Someone telled me to wait, then I was all by myself and I was so scared." Harry noticed the boy cradled his right hand gently. "Did you hurt yourself?" He asked the boy softly and the boy who was sniffling answered, "No, I just have a mark on it." The boy answered innocently as he stared into the fire, which shimmered off of his eyes.
"May I see?" Harry said, offering the boy his hand. Without hesitation the young Malfoy put his hand into Harry's, but before he had time to examine the strange symbol he saw, he felt a sharp pull behind his navel and was no longer in the room.
~~~~

When he had regained his senses, he noticed the little boy was holding his hand and seemed to be leading him through a corridor. Light was coming through what Harry thought was some kind of grand hall. "Where are we?" Harry asked to no one in particular. "In my head." The little boy said excited. "I am home, come on, come on, we gotta hurry." The boy jerked Harry ahead with a strength that almost had Harry fall on his face.

As he'd guessed they entered some grand hall. In the center of it, was a large block of what looked like concrete. Chains held the block in place, four from each top corner, as well as, four from the bottom corners. Each chain seemed to glow a slight yellow and Harry could see the block had a memory charm etched into it.

'This is it, we got it.' Harry thought, pleased with himself. He felt the boy's hand loosen it's grip and looked down. "I have to go." He said softly up to Harry. "Thanks for finding me, I wanted to go home so much." Draco's child form reached out and hugged him tightly.

~~~~
When they had parted, the boy closed his eyes and rose off the ground. Harry was excited, he had helped Draco. As he watched the boy rise, he smiled. Such innocence was to seldom in the dark and fearful times, so he enjoyed it.
He watched and saw the boy's body stop inches from the charm on the block and slowly began to spin around in the air. With each revolution, he spun faster and faster, until sudeenly, he became a bright blue light and became one with the charm on the block. Harry watched as the charm glowed and shot beams of light out of it's center, which Harry had noticed looked like an eye.
He continued to watch until, very suddenly, the block shattered, causing Harry tWo sheild his eyes. When he became able to open them, he almost closed them again, very frightened of what was before him.
~~~~

A large bird, engulfed in fire was now where the block had been. Harry noticed the bird's body was bound by the chains that had held the block in place. He began to wonder why no one had pulled him back out of his trance and back to reality, when the bird spoke. It's voice was soft, yet powerful, like that of a mother.

"Do not fear me, Harry potter. I will not harm you, I am Phoenix. Once I tell you what you must know, I will return you to your body." Harry relaxed a bit. "I was here a long time ago. You see, this boy's parent's had sought me out on the psychic plains. Their dark lord had planned to use my power through the boy. When they could not, the one called Lucius imprinsoned me with a charm, intending to try again when his son was older.

Harry had alot of questions, but kept silent. "He did not however, expect his own son to have such control over his mind. These chains are restraints placed here by his son to make sure I would not get loose. Should he realese me before he was ready, he would die. However, his mind is strong enough that I will be ready soon."

"Ready for what?" Harry asked, sure he didn't want to know. "For the battle ahead of him, the one he wishes to fight will be here soon." The bird stopped talking abruptly, seemed to sigh and continued. "You two are quite connected. the only way I could have sent you the counter charm, was for you two to share the exact same thought at some point." Harry was stunned into disbelief.

"Last year, you two feared for Hermione Granger's safety. The connection was instant, yet suddenly gone. However, it appears as though I succeeded. Harry thought he saw the bird smile. "You share a destiny Harry potter. Now, I bid you farewell. Please make sure not to tell Draco I am free, he will discover my freedom on his own." When she had finished, Harry felt a short rush and woke up, back in Xaivier's classroom.
