Chapter Six
Author\'s Notes: Wow, seems to be i\'m cranking these chappies out like nothing :). Well, this is the last chapter of the First part of the Phoenix series. The next story coming out will be called <> an interlude between the first and second Parts. So, without furthur ado, here\'s the Sixth Chapter of Through the Ashes....
Chapter Six
Sirius’ eyes widened as he took in the form of Severus. He would not be able to stand without Remus’ help. He was trembling violently, not just from the cold, but from the terrible ordeal he was put through. //Those robes are not the kind that are made to keep in the cold.// He thought. They were more like rags really, but who in their right mind would clothe a dead loved one in warm clothes? He shook himself and walked over to Remus and Severus, taking his cloak off as he went. He wrapped it around the violently shaking man, who in turn, pulled it closer around himself. His trembling subsided somewhat, although his breathing was irregular as he glanced from both Remus and Sirius.
They led him back to the castle, Sirius throwing a look over his shoulder to Harry that clearly meant, “We’ll talk soon.” From the looks that both his godfather and Remus were giving him, it wasn’t going to be a pleasant experience. //I’ll be lucky if I ever see the light of day again,// he gulped and followed.
Dumbledore was standing outside accompanied by James, when they approached. Dumbledore’s countenance was shadowed, and he had the air of retribution about him. James was confused, looking for answers in the small groups expressions. Harry looked as if he was being sent to the gallows, Ron was green, Hermione pale, Fred and George wore no expressions at all. Sirius looked thunderous, and Remus took a cue from the twins, and wore no expression whatsoever. They were leading someone dressed in black rags, and shaking like he had his own personal earthquake inside him.
James gasped in horror, he knew who this man was, the man that had saved his life, “Severus.” The man’s head shot up, and the Gryffindor was sickened by the emaciated form of Snape. A thin line appeared between his brows, and recognition finally broke through the cloudy recesses of Snape’s obsidian eyes. He looked faintly relieved to see his once archrival, alive and kicking. Severus shook his lank hair as he assessed the information flooding him. apprehension bloomed on his gaunt face as he croaked, “Where’s Lily?”
James turned around slowly, walking back into the castle. Dumbledore took the younger man’s cue and herded everyone inside. They met up with the rest of the dinner guests, Dumbledore ignoring their outbursts upon seeing Severus. Sirius couldn’t blame them, it was a lot to take in all in one night but must they be so loud about it?
Dumbledore surveyed the room, “I’m sorry, but this dinner will have to be cut short. If you have any questions , I’ll be more than happy to talk to you on the morrow, but right now, we have something to take care of.” The guests, except for McGonagall and Madame Pompfrey left. Sirius went with Madame Pompfrey to help with Severus, not desiring to be a part of this discussion.
The Headmaster waited until everyone except for the group of teenagers and choice adults to leave the Great Hall to turn around. As he did so, the group took a step back, unused to seeing the older wizard this angry. He zeroed in on the children and said deceptively calm, “You have some explaining to do.”
End of Part One.
Wow. I can\'t believe the First part is already done. Yes, short chapters, but still worth the read. :)
We\'llbe seeing more of what\'s to become of Haryy and the gang, the fics will become more dark, but still very good.
