Chapter 7
Chapter 7
Harry was in shock, he couldn’t believe he had that much money. He couldn’t believe anyone could ever have that much money. So deep was his shock at the sheer amount of money he know had, he didn’t here someone come up to where he was sat and nearly jumped clean out of his skin when he felt a hand on his shoulder.
“You okay mate?” It was only his best friend Ron Weasley.
“Fine Ron, I’m fine. I just never imagined Sirius had that much money let alone that he would leave most of it to me.”
“You can say that again, I thought mum was going to faint when that woman read how much he was leaving to us and again when she heard Fred and George were getting another lot solely for their business. They were over the moon though.”
“I couldn’t believe it either.” Remus’ voice was only a barely audible whisper but Harry breathed a sigh of relief to know that his old professor, and new friend, was back amongst the land of the living.
“Quite,” came the voce of Albus Dumbledore, who had made his way over to the small group, “but then again Sirius was always a very generous person.”
“That he was,” said Remus, speaking more loudly now but still staring blankly into space.
“Now Harry, as you have just inherited it, and you are almost 16, how would you like to move into 12 Grimwald Place permanently. Although you wont have the protection of the magic your mother invoked when she sacrificed herself for you, Grimwald place is very well guarded and the Order will be able to give you closer protection than we can at your aunt’s.”
“Would I?” exclaimed Harry, springing out of the numbness of shock. Dumbledore smiled.
“Will it still be alright for the Order to hold are meetings there?”
“Of course it will.”
“Then that’s settled, you can move in immediately. I will arrange for all of your belongings to be there upon your return. Oh, yes! One last thing before I let you go, Harry, I’m sure you’re desperate to find out the results of your O.W.L’s, I know Miss. Granger is. I was just wandering if it would be all right for a fellow student to stay with you at Grimwald Place over the summer. He has just recently lost his mother and his father has disowned him and so he needs a place to stay.”
“Yeah, sure Professor, that’s fine. Is there any particular reason you want him to stay with me?” A mass of fireworks went off in Dumbledore’s eyes.
“Oh, there are a few, my boy. One of them is that his father is quite a high-ranking death eater and I would be very much surprised if he hadn’t taught his son a number of things that one would not be taught at Hogwarts. I was hoping that he might be able to teach you a thing or two. Know thine enemy as the muggle saying goes. Anyway, I’d best be off. Goodbye for now Harry, I’ll be round with him late.”
With that, Harry and Remus went with Hermione and the Weasleys to get their results. Hermione was ecstatic to find that she had the highest score in their year and Ron and Harry were happy to find that they had a high enough grade to take Transfigurations, DADA and Potions next year, the subjects needed to go into Auror training. Harry had even managed to scrape an O in potions although he put that down to the fact that Snape hadn’t been breathing down the back of his neck during the practical.
All of them thanked Remus for their O’s in DADA claiming that it had been almost solely thanks to him that they’d even passed, especially when you considered the other teacher’s they’d had over the years. The werewolf merely blushed and told them to stop being stupid.
The three friends said their goodbyes, promising to meet up again at Grimwald Place tomorrow, as the student staying with Harry was most likely a Slytherin and Harry would probably need all the help he could get.
Before they went back to Grimwald Place, Harry managed to drag Remus down to Gringott’s so that he would be able to open a new account as well as being able to make the appropriate withdrawals from his own. By the time they got back to Grimwald Place, after having to fill in the mountains of paperwork given to them by the goblins, it was near dinnertime and they were both ravenous. When they went down to the kitchen, however, they were presented with the two people they least expected and least wanted to see: Severus Snape and Draco Malfoy.
Harry stopped dead on the stairs. Damn but Draco looked good.
