Chapter 7: Living a lie.
Snape stopped at the front of a large gargoyle statue.
“Bumblebee.” Snape muttered. The gargoyle started to move making a grinding noise as it revealed a spiral staircase. Snape walked up the staircase. Draco and Sarah followed. Draco started to make a gagging noise like he was trying to tell Sarah something. Sarah turned around and gave him a really dirty look and continued following Snape.
Draco stood very close behind Sarah. Sarah could feel his breath on her neck. The staircase stopped moving and Sarah could see a door. Snape knocked on the door.
“Come in.” Dumbledore’s voice sounded from behind the door. The door opened automatically and Snape walked in. Sarah and Draco walked in after them. “Oh hello Severus.”
“Hello Headmaster. Mr. Malfoy and Miss Harrison have some to have a word with you about an accident that had happened in green house four.” Snape informed.
“Thank you Severus.” Dumbledore looked over at the two students. Snape left the office closing the door after him. “Please do sit.” Dumbledore motioned to the seats placed in front of his desk. Sarah and Draco sat down. “Good. Now please tell me what has happened.” Sarah didn’t want Draco to talk so she went ahead.
“Draco and I had a detention and we had to clean out the green house.” Dumbledore nodded. “And then all the lights went out. At first I thought it was Draco but then something came through the roof.” Sarah explained.
“Yes.” Dumbledore thought for a moment. “I do not know what may have happened but I do think I may know what it is. I will have someone come tomorrow morning and search the green house. For Now no one must enter the green house.”
“Yes sir.” Sarah nodded.
“Sarah I think there is something I must tell you, something that might have contributed to what has happened tonight.” Dumbledore looked at Sarah over the top of his half moon glasses. Sarah felt a little pinch where her healing cut of the snakes head was. It felt strange.
“Ah… maybe we should talk alone.” Sarah motioned to Draco.
“If you wish, but Mr. Malfoy should know too.”
“Fine he can stay.” Sarah sighed.
“Good choice my dear.” Dumbledore smiled. “As I had said before I may know what you two had encountered tonight. If it is what I think it might be, I am not permitted to tell you.” Dumbledore started. “The cut on your stomach means more then what you think.”
“About my cuts sir.” Sarah interrupted. “I’ve seen the shapes in three other places.” Sarah held out her hand. “I have one on my hand, there’s also one burnt in to my bed post and on one of my books.” Draco looked on with high interest.
“Yes.” Dumbledore nodded. “Do you know why you had to come here to Hogwarts?”
“No.” Sarah shook her head.
“It had something to do with your marks.” Dumbledore pointed to her hand and stomach. “You were not safe at Durmstrang.”
“Why wasn’t I safe at Durmstrang?” Sarah was lost.
“You were not safe because people began to find out who you really are.”
“What? Who I am? I’m Sarah.” Sarah had no idea what was going on.
“You are not who you think you are. You we’re not safe because of your back ground, because you are Slytherin.”
“What do you mean by Slytherin?” Draco asked, curiosity overwhelming him. This was the first time that Draco had spoken since they entered the office.
“Sarah is and 11th generation Slytherin.” Dumbledore replied. Sarah sat there with her mouth open. Draco’s eyes widened in shock. “When you were born your parents chose to keep that part of your life away from you so that you would not worry. Your father’s grandfather had chosen to change their last name to Harrison due to the problems they were having with the name Slytherin.”
“So I’ve been living a lie?” Sarah was in utter shock. “My whole life has been a lie.”
“Yes.” Dumbledore nodded. “But you are still the same person you would have been with the last name Slytherin.”
“Alright but I don’t understand what this has to do with what happened.”
“You are in danger because of your last name. People think that Slytherin’s are evil and connected with the dark lord. People think that you are the cause of the mysterious disappearance of four people who had gone missing over the last four years.”
“But I’m not Evil!” Sarah protested. “I have never done such a thing.”
“Yes, you and I know that but other people do not.” Dumbledore comforted. Sarah sighed.
“So I get these marks because I am Slytherin?”
“Yes, as you may know that the Slytherin emblem is a snake.”
“Are…are you sure that Sarah is really Slytherin by blood?” Draco asked. His face had turned extremely pale.
“Draco I am absolutely certain that Sarah is in fact a Slytherin.” Dumbledore assured.
“So does that mean I’m a pureblood?” Sarah asked.
“Yes it does.” Dumbledore nodded. “You also contain certain powers that no one else may have and you may not know what they are. You will just have to wait for them to show. Sarah you are special.”
“Thank… thank you professor.” Sarah looked down at the ground trying to think.
“It was my pleasure.” Dumbledore half smiled.
“Don’t tell anyone about this Malfoy.” Sarah whispered harshly. Draco just shook his head. Sarah left Dumbledore’s office and walked down the stairs. She couldn’t what she had just heard. She couldn’t believe that her parents would do this to her. She thought that this would all be a dream and that she would wake up in her bed. But she knew that would not happen.
Draco left the office and walked up behind Sarah. He grabbed her shoulder. He was relieved that Sarah was pureblood. Now her though he could try and date her. Sarah turned around and pushed his hand off of her shoulder and quickly walked away.
Draco stood there thinking about what to do. He liked her, well he thought he did. There was something about her that made him like her in a different way to other girls. He wanted to get to know her better. He ran down the staircase, his hand sliding down the wall. A sharp piece of stone stuck out and sliced Draco’s palm open. He kept running, not able to fell the pain in his palm. Crimson blood trailing behind him.
“SARAH WAIT!” Draco shouted at her. Sarah stopped walking but didn’t turn around to look at him.
“What is it Malfoy?” Sarah snapped. She was not going to forgive him for what he had said to her after the accident. Draco looked at her face. Her eyes were burning bright red.
“I just wanted to say… to say that I’m sorry for what I said earlier.” Draco mumbled. He had never meant an apology before, it wasn’t his forte.
“Yeah I’m sure you are. I bet it happens all of the time.” Sarah didn’t have the heart to deal with him at the moment. “Why don’t you go and suck up to somebody else.” Draco dropped his crossed arms by his side. Blood began to drip from his palm on to the ground beside his feet. Sarah looked down at the pool of blood. “What did you do to yourself?” Draco felt humiliated.
“It’s nothing.” Draco moved his hand behind his back.
“Oh don’t be stupid.” Sarah grabbed his hand. Draco shook at her soft touch, but hid it from her well. Sarah held his palm up so she could examine the freely bleeding cut. She grabbed a handkerchief out of her cloak and placed it over the cut to absorb the blood. She was concentrating hard on Draco’s cut trying not to think about what Dumbledore had told her. Draco was watching her with interest, he wanted to touch her. He pulled his hand away from her and placed it on her cheek. Sarah looked up in shock. She felt his warm blood smear her cheek. He ran his bloody hand though her hair. “Draco what-” Sarah was cut of by Draco’s finger on her lips.
“Shh.” Draco leaned in closer to her face. Their eyes were locked. Sarah’s heart began to beat rapidly and she had seemed to have forgotten everything that had happened. The only thing on her mind was the bight grey blue eyes looking in to hers. She took in a sharp breath and began to close her eyes. Draco’s lips moved closer to hers. Their lips barely touched when Sarah pushed Draco away.
“I’m sorry Draco I… I... Just can’t do this now. Please just stay away from me.” Sarah could feel warm tears form in her eyes. She knew that Draco was fake just like Anthony, Jasmine had told her everything about him. She just wanted to be alone, away from everyone and everything. She ran past Draco hitting his shoulder as she past.
Draco watched her as her tears wiped away his blood. Sarah ran and ran until she realized that she didn’t know where she was going. So she stopped running and took a few seconds to take in her surroundings. She was by the library door. Surprisingly it was open. It was never opened past eight o’clock. She walked towards the door and slowly pushed it open. She looked around and no one was there. So she walked in a little further, still she saw and heard nothing. She walked over to a corner and sat down.

Draco walked into the Slytherin common room. All the thoughts and information he had received about Sarah were spinning around his head. He couldn’t believe that Sarah had brushed him off like that. But then again he wouldn’t know what it would feel like to find out that you’ve been living a lie for 15 years. He flopped down on the common room couch and closed his eyes.

An hour later Draco whakehaken awake.
“Draco? Hey Draco?” It was Anthony.
“What? What is it?” Draco asked groggily. He looked up and saw his mate hovering over him.
“Where have you been? You were supposed to be back 2 and a half hours ago.” Anthony sat down on a single couch. Draco sat up and rubbed his eyes.
“I’ve been sleeping here for about an hour.” Draco replied.
“Yeah ok, but what were you doing before that?”
“We were in Dumbledore’s office.” Draco sighed.
“Why? What did you do? Did you and Sarah get caught fucking?” Anthony smirked.
“No.” Draco laughed. “Something crashed into the green house so we went to Dumbledore’s office. You wouldn’t believe what I found out.”
“Try me.” Anthony grinned. Draco had remembered what Sarah had said to him just before she left Dumbledore’s office.
“Ah… Sarah’s not a Mudblood.”
“So she’s pure then?”
“Yep, pure as pure can be.” Draco nodded.
“So your dad got his facts wrong then.”
“Yeah.”
“Cool.” Anthony remembered what Sarah had done to him a long while ago. What she didn’t know was that what she did only made him want her more.
“I know.” Draco leaned back on to the couch. Anthony was forming a wonderful plan in his mind to get Sarah. Draco didn’t seem to notice the wheels turning in Anthony’s mind. Anthony knew if he told Draco about his plan he would flip. Draco obviously had a thing for her “Well I’m knackered.” Draco stood up. “See ya in later mate.”
“Yeah sure.” Anthony nodded. Draco walked away up to the boys dorms. Anthony sat there for a little longer sketching out his plan in his head. He began to laugh at how good he thought it was going to be. Then the common room door opened. He stopped laughing immediately. He looked at the door to see who had walked in. “Well hello there Sarah.” Anthony smirked as he walked up to her.
“Fuck off Anthony.” Sarah tried to walk past him but he wouldn’t let her.
“Ooooh feisty are we?” Anthony said playfully.
“Why don’t you go and get your sick kicks from someone else. Wasn’t the last time we had a little private time enough pleasure for you?” Sarah grinned.
“Oh absolutely not.” Anthony shook his head. “I only want you Sarah and I always get what I want.” Anthony moved his face closer to Sarah’s.
“You fucking wish.” Sarah moved quickly and punched him in the face.
“Shit.” Anthony hissed.
“Don’t you ever come near me again. This is your last warning.” Sarah walked away.
“Bitch. You better watch your back. I’ll fucking get you.” Anthony threatened.
“What ever.” Sarah walked up to her room and grabbed a few items for her shower.

Sarah was laying down sleeping when she felt someone sit down on the end of her bed. She slowly opened her eyes and saw Jasmine looking back at her.
“Morning.” Jasmine greeted.
“Morning.” Sarah sat up.
“Did you have a good detention with Draco?” Jasmine asked.
“No it was absolutely boring.” Sarah slowly shook her head.
“Bullocks. You came back really late last night, you two had to be up to something.” Jasmine raised her voice slightly.
“I promise you that nothing happened between Malfoy. I just got a bit angry so I went somewhere for a while.”
“Alright then.” Jasmine stood up. “Come on we’ll go and see the green houses.”
“Why?” Sarah asked.
“It was trashed last night. There are people from the ministry looking around in it.” Jasmine replied. “Funny thing is that it’s the same green house you and Draco were supposed to clean last night.”
“We did clean it.” Sarah assured. “Very well to. So what happened?”
“What ever. All I know is that it’s messed up, n’t n’t know why or how really.” Jasmine walked over to her bed. Sarah got out of her bed.
“Turn around.” Sarah demanded. Jasmine turned away. Sarah quickly dressed into another clean set of her school uniform, since the one she wore last night had Draco’s blood on it. “What class do we have first?”
“We have defense against the dark arts.” Jasmine replied.
“Oh no not Umbridge.” Sarah sighed. She hated Umbridge so much even though the Slytherin’s look up to her. But not Sarah, she was a real Slytherin and hated the woman. She felt sorry for the students that actually had detentions with her. She remembered one boys name being called over and over again. Harry Potter. He always had a detention with Umbridge.
“Draco adores her.” Jasmine giggled.
“Of course he would. He’d do anything to be on a teacher’s good side.” Sarah grabbed all of her things she needed for her classes.
“So we’re angry at Draco are we?” Jasmine grinned.
“Just a little.” Sarah admitted.
“Oh well. Come on.” Jasmine pulled Sarah out of the dorm and down to the common room. They both ran as fast as they could to the green house. Sarah saw a huge crowd of people looking in to the green house from behind a barrier. “Excuse me.” Jasmine pushed her way though the stus. Ss. Sarah followed. She saw broken glass, pots and plants scattered all over the floor.
‘So that’s what happened’ Sarah thought to herself.
“Can we go to breakfast now?” Sarah asked.
“You go I’ll catch up with ya.” Jasmine said with a distracted tone.
“Ok laters.” Sarah squeezed back out of the crowd and headed over to the great hall. The hall was about ¾ full of students, the empty seats belonging to the students at the green house probably.
Sarah walked over to the Slytherin table and sat down. She looked around the table and saw Draco sitting right opposite her. Anthony was sitting next to him with a swollen purple nose. Sarah laughed to herself at the sight.
Sarah opened her book bag and took out some parchment and a quill. She moved aside her plate and place the parchment on the table and began to write a letter to her parents.
Dear Mother and Father,
I have found out that I am in fact a real Slytherin by blood. I am not angry at you, no, actually I am a bit angry. But what do you expect? I know why you did what you did and I thank you for protecting me but it really wasn’t that necessary to keep my real life away from me. I know that I am able to keep secrets and being a Slytherin and pure blood would have to been the most important secret for me to know.
Anyway now I don’t know what to do or think. It’s kind of messing me up. Making me feel all confused. What do I do? I don’t know who I really am, how does a real Slytherin act?
Love Sarah.
Sarah folded up the letter and slipped it into her cloak pocket to send off later.
“What were you writing?” Jasmine asked as she sat herself next to Sarah.
“Nothing.” Sarah shrugged. “You came back quickly.”
“Yeah I know. Snape told us that we all had to go to breakfast or we’ll get detentions and loose points.”
“Ok.” Sarah looked down at her plate of food.
“Everyone please listen.” Dumbledore tried to get the students attention. The hall went silent. “Thank you. Now as you all may already know Green house number four is closed down due to a few problems. I would like it if you all would stay away as it may interrupt the workers. Anyone caught around that area with out permission will have points taken away from your houses and a detention.” Dumbledore announced. “And also fifth years and seventh years O.W.Ls and N.E.W.Ts will commence in 3 months time. I suggest that you pay close attention to your work as it will all be in your tests.” The students groaned. “Yes, yes.” Dumbledore chuckled. “You all may eat now.”
Luv u all,
Sarah
