Chapter 7
It had been one month since Sachiel Snape had first come to Hogwarts. Halloween was just a week away. Dumbledore was so taken with the idea of a costume party that he decided that it would be a theme party. At dinner, he announced that everyone was to dress up as their nemesis.
The entire staff and student body moaned in unison at this announcement. Dumbledore, believing this to be a great idea, ignored them. With an annoying twinkle in his eyes, he also announced that no Polyjuice Potion would be allowed. “Let’s eat!” he said as he sat down.
The Great Hall was buzzing with conversations, everyone talking about who was the person they hated most. Severus Snape moaned. ‘There is NO way I will be seen walking around with Gryffindor robes and a stupid scar on my forehead!’ he thought angrily. Severus looked up across the table, and saw his brother talking to Madam Pomfrey. ‘Probably trying to get some anti-hangover potion, since I refused to keep him in supply.’
Just at that moment Sachiel looked up and gave his brother an evil look. Severus got an idea. Granted Potter was his most hated person (not counting the Dark Lord), but that isn’t to say that he was the ONLY person he hated. He saw the look on Sachiel\'s face; he knew his brother was thinking the same thing.
At the Gryffindor table, Ron was asking Hermione if she could put a charm on his hair to make it blond. He could even slick it back and make himself look like Malfoy. Seamus and Dean were discussing who was worst, Crabbe or Goyle. They both had been on the receiving end of their fists.
“Hey, Seamus could go as Crabbe, and Dean as Goyle, and then the two of you can walk around with me like they do with Malfoy,” Ron said excitedly. Dean and Seamus were making grunting sounds, trying to perfect their impersonations.
“Unless you want to go as Malfoy, Harry?” Ron asked, turning toward his best friend. Harry shook his head and sighed. He really hated this idea of Dumbledore’s.
“Are you okay, Harry?” Hermione asked worriedly.
“Yeah,” he replied sadly.
“So ‘Mione,” Ron said, trying to change the subject. “Who are you going as?”
“Millicent Bulstrode,” she replied smiling. All the guys at the table who heard this started laughing. “WHAT?” she said angrily.
“Sorry, Hermione,” Harry said, still trying not to laugh. “But you really don’t have the umm…”
“Top rack!” Seamus said, trying to be helpful. Harry gave him a look that said ‘you could have put that differently!’ Seamus only shrugged and went back to his dinner.
“Oh, don’t worry about that.” Ginny for the first time entered the conversation. “That’s nothing a stuffed bra can’t fix. Anyway, if any of you even noticed, Hermione isn’t exactly flat.” All the guys pretended to take great interest in the food on their plates, trying to hide their red faces. Ginny and Hermione laughed.
Up at the High Table, Professor Flitwick was quietly taking bets from the other teachers on who would be the subject of the most costumes. The good money was on Snape, since everyone believed that he was the most feared teacher in Hogwarts.
“No,” Dumbledore said thoughtfully. \"I think he would get a few, but I believe the fear of retaliation would deter them.” He leaned toward Severus and whispered. “No retaliation, or else…” He left the threat hanging. Severus knew better than to argue with the insane Headmaster.
“So what should I put you down for, Albus?” asked Professor Flitwick.
“Now Filius, I am Headmaster and as such I cannot indulge, but by all means, the rest of you go right ahead!” As they all left the Great Hall, Albus whispered in Flitwick’s ear. “Five galleons on Severus.” The little professor tried to keep a straight face but failed miserably.

Hermione usually never indulged in gossip, but for the past few weeks she had been joining Lavender, Parvati, and Ginny in the sixth year girls’ dorm. Since she was Head Girl, she had her own room and bath, but as it was she needed to keep up on the “Sachiel Report,” as she and Severus jokingly called it. He had asked her to keep track of the students who claimed to have slept with him. Both she and Severus knew that gossip and rumor wasn’t enough, but it was a start.
“Can you believe little Miss Bulstrode! To hear that girl talk, she sleeps with him three times a week!” Lavender said angrily.
“I wish I could!” Parvati piped in. “How does she do it? Every time I see him, he’s surrounded by girls.”
“Well, not to mention Professor Sinistra and Miss Marlow, trying to get him for themselves,” Ginny said, laughing.
“OOOHHhhhhh, how I hate them!” said Lavender. “I wish I was old enough to be able to do that!”
“So who is bragging this week?” asked Ginny, still laughing.
“Hmm, there’s of course Millicent, Pansy, Hannah, and Padma,” Lavender replied.
“Padma!!” Parvati yelled jealously. “I don’t believe that for a minute.”
All the girls started laughing. Hermione never knew that gossiping could be fun, but there was still a lot of it she didn’t like. Like when they started bashing the guys; they were her friends, and she didn’t like bad-mouthing friends. When the conversation started in that direction, Hermione said she still had homework she wanted to do, and left the girls talking amongst themselves. If they were amazed that Hermione was interested in gossiping all of the sudden, they didn’t say anything. In truth, they thought she was loosening up a bit, and that was always a good thing when it came to Hermione Granger.
Hermione went to her room to write out her report for Severus. She felt a little uneasy using his first name, but with two of them now, she just couldn’t say Snape in her head anymore without getting the brothers confused. She sighed when she finished her report and put it between the parchments of her potions homework. That was the best way Severus could think of for getting the information to him without undue attention.
Potions class was getting harder for her. It was not that the assignments he gave were harder, it was just that it was becoming harder for her to concentrate on the task at hand when he was around. Her mind kept going to that soul-searching kiss, and unfortunately they hadn’t shared another one since.
Hermione started to think of a plan. Yes, the party would be a great place to seduce Severus. Now all she had to do was to make sure she caught him all alone.
