Chapter the Seventh
shemhamforash – what makes you think I’m going anywhere with this? Rotflol maniacally. MWAHAHAHA. No, but really, there is a plot… kinda. I’m just biding my time introducing the antagonist. Just wait – you’ll see.
------------------------------------
Hermione was released from her memories to find herself curled into a ball on the floor. The memories had come so quickly she barely had time to contemplate them.
Three things were implanted in her brain as being important from all this:
1) Snape had touched her inappropriately and she had *liked* it, accident or not.
2) Malfoy, Crabbe, and Goyle were up to no good.
3) There was a really perverted ghost living in the dungeons.
Hermione looked up into Snape’s face, careful not to reveal her thoughts about him in her own. She wondered how long his niceness was going to last.
She began to rise. He offered her his hand.
She found herself inches away from him and she could feel the heat rising from their bodies. Her heart was pounding. Her gaze faltered. She almost fell. He helped her again.
She clutched against him, careful not to reveal her attraction, but not wanting to pull away. Finally, she walked back to the couch and sat down.
\"I didn\'t realize that I paid so little attention to my History of Magic professor.\" She said at last.
Then she told him what happened to her the night before – every detail. She made no mention of the incident in the hallway. By the end of it, she could see anger in his face. She wasn’t sure if he was angry at her actions, Crabbe Goyle and Malfoy’s actions, or that crazy perverted ghost.
~~
Ses was was thankful that she wasn’t screaming at him for what he had done to her. He was for once thankful that Dumbledore was the meddling old fool he was. He was ever so grateful that she chose not to bring it up.
But he was also completely sure that she was turned on by it as well. The way she was looking at him, try as she might to hide it, it was obvious.
When she had been so near to him, he had contemplated kissing her. He wanted her, he knew it now. The way he was acting around her was so completely unlike him. This was something new to him entirely – not the crazed deatheater desire to take the world by storm, but the slow yearning of a heart who had found its match.
As she told her story to him, he couldn’t refrain from dipping into her mind. She would not be able to tell the difference as her thoughts were already on the memories he would be viewing.
He was surprised at the result of her failed sobriety spell, disgusted by the state she was in, curious as to what Malfoy and crew had been up to, and terrified at the sight of the ghost.
When he pulled away from her mind however, he was simply angry. He was angry at what had occurred to her. He was angry he had not been there to help her. He was angry that he was so concerned over a student. He was angry that she was a student at all.
‘Damn convention. I’ll deal with this any way I please’ he decided at last.
“The section of the dungeons of which you speak is usually invisible to the student population and many wards have been put up to ensure that Onan cannot escape it. I did not know there was a secret passageway there. I will speak with the headmaster about it later and we will determine what to do about it then.
“As for the three deatheaters, I have been aware that certain… members of the student population fancy themselves to follow in the footsteps of their elders. It is always possible that they were in fact attending a meeting with the Dark Lord to which I have not been invited, but it’s more likely that they were simply out to break school rules and have a little fun.
“Which brings us to your situation, Miss Granger. I believe you have just confessed to breaking a multitude of school rules, the punishment for which would likely get you kicked out of this school.”
He didn’t want her to believe that he was going to punish her. He wanted to take her in his arms and hold her, reassure her that it was over, look into her soft brown eyes, and go back to sleep. It was still much much too early to be doing this.
“But to be completely honest with you, Miss Granger, I’ve never been one for following the rules so why should I start now? I need you here for our research and frankly, I think what you went through last night was punishment enough. As much as I would like to expose Potter and his friends for being out last night, I’ll be willing to let it go as long as you promise this won’t happen again so long as you’re at this school.”
He hoped he was making the right decision with her. This was the sort of speech he normally reserved for his Slytherins, but her research agreement with him left her soundly in his turf.
That, and he wanted her. On so many levels he wanted to sate her desires for him.
~~
Hermione was relieved that she had been correct about him. To have concocted a lie that would cover this up was impossible at this point in time and so she had told him the truth. And he hadn’t thrown that fact back in her face. He was giving her a chance and she was going to take it.
“I promise Professor. But do you think that we could… keep this a secret?”
She couldn’t believe her ears when he began to laugh. Was he laughing at her? Why was he laughing – he never LAUGHS?!?!
“If I was planning on telling someone, I would have called on the headmaster a long time ago and you would most likely find yourself being humiliated at the hands of your peers.”
‘He has a sarcastic remark for everything doesn’t he?’
Suddenly she began to laugh as well. It fot for how horrible her situation the night before was, then for the fact that Severus Snape, former deatheater and bane of her existence was sitting in front of her laughing. She realized that she had never before seen him laugh.
Between giggles she asked, “So who was this Onan guy anyhow?”
“Salazar Slytherin’s brother.”
Hermione’s giggling stopped when he said this. She gasped.
“He was beheaded by Salazar when he was caught fucking Salazar’s girlfriend on the desk in that very same classroom you found yourself in.” Snape had stopped laughing, but a tricky smile remained. “Salazar had been dating a student.”
Hermione gasped again. She finally brought herself to ask why she had never heard about this before.
“It’s been kept a secret from the beginning. Onan’s existence is only known to the head of Slytherin house and the headmaster of Hogwarts. As head of Slytherin, it’s my responsibility to make sure he doesn’t bother the students.” Snape chortled.
Snape actually chortled. Hermione couldn’t help herself, she began to laugh hysterically once again.
~~
Severus was enamored with her. She was gorgeous when she laughed. She was still a bit of a mess at the moment, but she was beautiful all the same.
He sat down next to her on the couch and summoned them both breakfast. It wasn’t often that he had company in his rooms and he was actually enjoying himself. He told her the whole grme tme tale of Onan and Salazar Slytherin as they ate, filling his room with laughter and the occasional shocked look from Hermione.
