Severus, Be Bold

The morning came quicker than Hermione and Severus were expecting. He watched as she gathered all her things, preparing herself to leave.

"Since I haven't been there to be able to apparate there just yet, I have to go to the Ministry first so I can floo there, and then I'll be able to apparate back and forth." she explained.

Severus nodded. "No need to explain. I know the drill.." he replied.

"Oh... Right..." she blushed, bending to pick up a discarded sweater that she charmed and shoved in her handbag.

"Can we at least go to breakfast before you go?" he asked as he dressed himself. Hermione smiled as she glued her eyes to his half-naked form.

"Er... What?" she asked.

"Would. You. Like. To go... To breakfast..." Severus said again, trying to remain serious.

"Oh, yes... Sorry... You know better than to ask me things while you're dressing..." she blushed.

Severus shook his head smiling slightly before he grabbed hold of her and apparated her somewhere in the middle of London.

"Where to?" she asked, preparing to follow him. Severus motioned toward a small cafe where they sat and waited for their server.

Hermione pulled out a sheet of parchment and began making sure her classes were all in order.

"Is everything square?" Severus asked her with a raised brow.

"I'm sorry, Severus... I just want to be organized." she said putting the parchment away.

"It's okay. Adrien and I have been doing the same."

"Where is Luna going to stay?" she asked. It suddenly dawned on her.

"With Adrien, of course. At Hogwarts during the week, and then they will venture to the new house on the weekends. Madam Sprout has agreed to let her study herbology with Mr. Longbottom."

"Is... Adrien okay with that?" Hermione asked, remembering how Adrien had despised Neville for always moving in on Luna before he could.

"I suspect so. He's the one who suggested it. Strangely enough. It's not as if he can't trust Luna though. And Longbottom is just..." Severus shook his head. "I just don't even know about him."

"Neville's nice." Hermione laughed. "I'm sure Luna could learn a lot from him."

Severus nodded sarcastically "Oh yes. She could learn tons from Longbottom."

Hermione giggled as the waiter came over to take their orders. She stared at Severus as if he was the most odd thing she'd ever seen, as he was dressed in his normal expansive black robes. He had to go to Hogwarts later, and he really didn't care what muggles thought of him. In all fairness, he'd seen a lot more disturbing things in the nightlife that shrouded London after hours. At least the muggle server was polite.

"Will that be it then?" she asked as she finished writing.

"Yes. Thank you..." Severus replied slowly.

The woman blushed and moved away from the table, and Hermione burst into laughter.

"What?" he asked her, taking a sip of water.

"You don't see it do you?" she asked between laughs.

"See what?" he asked, truly confused.

"How attractive you are. She was totally checking you out."

"Oh, gods. Right. And she was also looking at that homeless man just there." Severus gestured to a man in rags, appearing to be begging the early morning strollers for coin.

"No, she was definitely looking at you."

Severus shrugged. "I thought that was a look that suggested she found me an oddity." he mused.

"No. That wasn't one of those looks." Hermione giggled again.

"Right, well... Apparently, you along with every other woman need to have their eyes and heads examined." Severus smirked.

Hermione nudged at him playfully. "There's nothing wrong with my eyes. Or my head, thanks to you." she said, kissing him on the cheek.

The blushing waitress came back momentarily with their order.

"Will that be all?" she asked.

"No, I was actually wondering... Do you have a telephone number?" Severus asked. Hermione buried her face in his cloak, trying desperately to hide her laughter.

"Uh... Well I... Um..." the waitress stammered.

"He's joking." Hermione told the embarrassed woman.

The waitress flushed beet red and swiftly moved away, and didn't come back.

"Oh my gods, you are an arse!" Hermione breathed into her cup of water.

It wasn't until after the two left the cafe that Severus burst into a fit of his own laughter.

"Ooooh, her face... Oh, that was priceless. I'm so very glad to be alive." he laughed, moving his arm around Hermione's waist as they walked back to the remote area to apparate.

"That was quite bold. I'm surprised at you." Hermione teased him.

"Well... What is it that people keep telling me to do? Live a little?" Severus replied with a raised brow, the smirk ever present on his face.

"Yes. Yes, just that." Hermione smiled, just before being apparated to the Ministry.

Severus walked her to the University Administration where Hermione received a pass to use the floo to the school in New York, and then walked her to the gate where she would pass through.

"I'll see you this weekend." she promised, wrapping her arms around his neck, uncaring of who saw, and passionately kissed him.

"Mmm.. Okay... Go on then. You won't see Spinner's End again." he told her.

Hermione nodded, and hugged him tight before reluctantly releasing him.

"I love you." she told him, moving back into the green flames.

"I love you too, Hermione. I'll see you soon." he waved, and before he could blink, Hermione was gone.
