I do not own Harry Potter that is J.K. Rowling's honor. Making no money, just enjoying writing.
Moving Moon
Hermione eased her way carefully across the gaping chasm, wincing every time the cargo net sagged or groaned a little more than usual.
“Don’t look down, don’t look down, don’t look down,” she muttered under her breath the whole way across.
She breathed a heartfelt sigh of relief when she was finally on the other side opposite Draco and Harry. She watched nervously while first Harry then Draco made their way to her. She then turned to study the zipline that would take them to the door leading into the house.
“I suppose you’re going first on this one too, Granger,” Draco drawled.
“Of course,” she said absently. She started climbing up the rickety ladder to examine the zip line. Fairly standard harness device used to slide along a wire cable. She reached up to grab the harness only to have it fall apart in her hands. “Looks like we go hand over hand, boys.”
Harry and Draco looked at eachother.
“One of us goes first then, Hermione,” Harry said. “Men have more upper body strength than women do.”
“I agree with Potter. Gods, there must be a rare planetary alignment for that to happen. But he’s right, Granger,” Draco said. “I don’t care what your women’s lib loving arse says about it. It’s physical reality. Men really are stronger though the upper body. That’s a fact.”
Hermione glared mutinously at the two of them. “I am perfectly well aware of that and will not debate the facts,” she said before reaching up and grasping the cable. She swung out over yet another wide gap in the Earth. Moving slowly hand over hand toward the other side. She started to regret it halfway across when her arms and shoulders started to ache abominably. She took several deep breaths and focused on something else, her mind touching on a memory of her and Lucius to keep her going.
They had been in the library as usual, reading and listening to muggle music of all things. It never ceased to amuse her exactly how much Lucius knew about muggle music and the fact he thoroughly enjoyed it. Then there had been the standard, What song would you choose for us? Question that every couple seemed to ask one another. Odd to think of them as a couple at this point but it was true. Even though nothing terribly interesting had happened between them at that point. Hermione had the distinct feeling that Lucius was waiting for her to make the first move on that score.
Lucius had seemed to think about the question for a moment before pulling her up from her seat and waltzing her around the Persian rug.
“I’m not certain I could choose a song for us just yet,” he said thoughtfully before starting to sing the song to her he’d chosen.
I was blindfolded, but now I'm seeing
My mind was closing, now I'm believing
I finally know just what it means to let someone in
To see the side of me that no one does or ever will
So if your ever lost and find yourself all alone
I'd search forever just to bring you home,
Here and now this I vow
By now you know that I'd come for you
No one but you, yes I'd come for you
But only if you told me to
And I'd fight for you
I'd lie, it's true
Give my life for you
You know I'd always come for you
You know I'd always come for you
For some reason, that memory gave her renewed determination as other lines to the song came into her mind. Ones that were very oddly appropriate to the situation currently at hand.
No matter what gets in my way
As long as there's still life in me
No matter what, remember No matter what gets in my way
you know I'll always come for you
Harry and Draco watched tensely as she made her way across. There was a loud *pop* and whooshing sound as she neared the other side of the chasm.
Draco glanced up and swore long and loud. “Bollocks! The cable’s coming apart, Potter,” he said, climbing up to try to steady it as best he could.
Harry glanced at Hermione, trying to judge how far away from the other side she happened to be. “Still too far for her to jump,” he shouted up to Draco. “Hermione, MOVE!”

The song used in this chapter is "I'd Come For You" by Nickelback. I don't own it, making no money from it.
