Still Unclear To Me
“Why haven't you looked for me, Malice?” Severus' voice broke through the shocked silence again and Malice almost choked on her own spit. She looked to him, completely shocked and couldn't find it in her to reply to him. His voice was stoic and hardly bared any emotions, but yet his eyes held pain, strong emotional pain and she couldn't understand why he was being like this.
“I.... You were the last person I thought would want to see me, Severus.” Malice finally answered, a bit more bitter than she meant to be. She almost wanted to take it back, her eyes starting to sting as she looked away from him. How dare he. How DARE he sit there and act like he cared after how he treated her before graduation. He practically brushed her off, giving her the one present she was allowed to give her mate, denying her without even fully knowing what he was doing, despite knowing what she was.
“I wouldn't want to see you!? Malice, have you lost your mind?” Severus was starting to lose his temper, and all of the Golden Trio was looking at him with shocked faces but he didn't register them. Malice seriously thought he didn't want to see her? That he didn't want to know that she was alive and well after all the years he had spent searching for her. Then again, she didn't know he was searching, he always had to be secretive about that due to her father. Sighing, trying to regain some composure, he looked to her. “Did you seriously think I stopped looking for you?” He all but growled out.
“I haven't lost my mind, which is shocking despite what has been happening to me, thanks to you! You denied me and now you are declaring you've been searching for me?” She stood from the table and put her napkin on her plate, her food hardly touched. “Now that's a riot!” Malice glared at Severus and it seemed he actually flinched from the stare, causing Hermione to gasp.
“M... Mal, it's true, he has been searching for you. H... He didn't mean to deny you...” Narcissa started and then Severus interrupted her, knowing she could only say so much to help with this situation of a dragon and vampire facing their mate who had denied them long ago.
“It was your father!” The whole room was filled with clattering silverware at the Potion Master's words. Even Ron had stopped eating and was looking at everyone. Everything wrong seemed to be leading back to Dumbledore. “He knew, how could he not, he had kept eyes on me and you for so long! He said it interfered with his plans! I had to transform my crush on a friend to something almost akin to worship for your ghastly father! I didn't know what to do and when he deemed you dead, I knew he was wrong, or I would be dead too!” Severus stood up as well, grabbing Malice by her shoulders. “Do you have any idea how hard it was to deny you?” His voice was soft and he didn't care about all who were looking to them, didn't care that he didn't seem like his stoic self in front of students who grated on his nerves.
“Probably not as hard it was to see you before me earlier. Why did you touch the snake so soon, I wasn't ready.” Malice sighed and looked away from Severus' face, her eyes landing on the necklace, making her eyes sting again with tears but she coughed a bit and held them back. She didn't understand any of this and she didn't want to after so long of being away from the male. Grumbling softly, she wasn't expecting the voice that broke through the silence, and it actually worried her on what it was saying.
“P.. Professor, are you by any chance a Faye?” Hermione asked. In the wizarding world, Faye were much like vampires in the sense that they weren't the nice light creatures that Muggles portrayed them to be. They were very human in nature, could grow a natural human size, held very human characteristic. Faye were very magical, which probably explained why Severus Snape was as powerful as he was; not as powerful as Voldermort was, but he was powerful enough to hold his own during the war by playing both sides. They were creatures that had mates as well, but their mating when further than a magical bond like dragons, or a blood bond like vampires. Their mates were soul mates, someone who's soul was fitting or practically a piece of theirs, and anyone who saw an unmated Faye would see a person nearly on the verge of death. That probably explained Snape's appearance to them all, and Hermione just couldn't help trying to find out. His magic flared as he was speaking with Malice, he was letting his shields down without a care and Faye could not control themselves around their mate. She almost wanted to scream in glee of this finding.
“Ho... Miss Granger, what are you talking about? I swear do you just let anything that pops into your mind spill forth from your mouth to see if your know-it-all brain is correct?” Severus growled out and this time Lucius spoke up, tired of all the fighting as it was wearing him out. The older blonde still was recovering from his time in Azkaban and then having to go right through the war shortly after his escape.
“Come off it, Severus. Stop hiding I as you know if you keep hiding, you will just kill yourself. Hell, you already look dead and you aren't even the one with Nagini's venom inside of you. You have to stop denying your heritage, both of you!” Lucius glared at both of his friends and Malice just huffed, walking out of the dining room and into the parlor before putting on her coat and heading outside, forgetting her glamour this time. Sighing, she leaned against the house before walking out and getting some fresh air, hopefully alone this time. She wasn't even paying attention to where she was going and before she knew it, she was actually in Hogsmede, facing a very shocked McGonagall, her eyes going wide, stopping in her tracks just as snow began to fall.
“M... Malice, what are you doing here?” The older witch whispered as if speaking out loud would cause the young witch in front of her to disappear. Malice looked like she wanted to cry, and so she did. Falling to her knees, Malice cried, causing the Headmistress to run to her and crouch to her level, wrapping her arms around the shaking woman, wondering what all was wrong. When the crying had subsided just a little bit, Minerva looked to her, putting a hand under Malice's chin to help her look to her. “Dear, let us go talk inside where it's warmer.” With that, Minerva helped them up and escorted Malice inside the Three Broom Sticks where Madam Rosmerta looked to the duet in shock.
“Bloody Hell, is that Mal!?” She said in shock, and Minerva nodded before looking to the shaken girl, sympathy on her face before going and casting her eyes back on Rosmerta.
“Is it possible we can borrow one of the rooms upstairs, Rose?” Minerva asked and the bar witch nodded and walked to lead them to the room upstairs, locking the door behind them as she started the fire to help warm the younger witch up. Rosmerta had to sigh sadly for the woman, she looked completely shaken and almost like she had lost the world.
“Malice, dear, how long have you been back?” Minerva asked and Malice sighed, mumbles of hissing coming from her lips as her blue eyes looked to the fire before she shook her head and managed to come to for a little bit.
“Since the last day of the war.” Malice whispered out. “Malfoys have been staying with me, the savior and his friends have found me and now my mate has found me to tell me my father had denied me my mate. I can't take it anymore! My privacy is breached and then everything is put on me at once! I don't even want people to know I'm alive and well yet as I know my father left me nothing! I wanted to make a living for myself before coming out fully to be bombarded by the news and the Ministry.” Malice whimpered and Minerva looked at her worried. Her father was quite harsh on her when she was in school, and due to the war he knew was coming, he did deny her of Severus, and Minerva tried to tell him not to do so after what happened to Deciet, but she had no real say. Rubbing the woman's back, Minerva looked to Rose who got up and made some tea for all of them, listening there to be more of a witness to anything rather than butt into to something that was not her business.
“Malice, dear, your father has left you all his possessions, aside from a small vault he had set aside for his brother that is not anywhere linked to his main vault, just something he set up before he died from doing odd jobs so his brother had something. Not to mention, you have Ravenclaw, Slytherin and le Fay to collect and they have just been sitting collecting dust as Aberforth checks on them daily. You need to come back to the real world, dear. You are being driven by your insanity just like your mother. Your father used to beat himself up on an hourly basis for what he did to her, he was so guilty and he knew he had every reason to be. That was probably another reason he was so hard on you, you look just like her.” Minerva brushed the dark violet locks out of Malice's face and the cursed witch looked to her, sighing softly and scratching at her runes, which were irritating her since she was so close to Severus.
“He still stopped looking for me.” Malice grumbled and she cleared her throat before straightening up, trying to hold some dignity towards the le Fay clan. Her mother had always taught her to watch out of her emotions, as it could help along with the side effects of the curse.
“He didn't stop looking for you, he let Severus continue and then he would sneak about to see what the boy had found.” Minerva said with a laugh. “He always thought no one knew, and while Severus didn't, I sure did.” She winked to the girl, who just looked at her shocked, not believing what she was hearing, not knowing if she could. It was when she heard banging and a familiar voice from outside the door that she even knew Rosmerta had put tea on the table before her and where she was came back into her mind's eye.
“I.... You were the last person I thought would want to see me, Severus.” Malice finally answered, a bit more bitter than she meant to be.
