Chapter 5

A/N: I am forever sorry that I abandoned this fic. i'm gonna attempt to continue it now all these years later. Chances are it'll be a lot different from what I intended back when I started but I hope I can do it justice! Also being that Dumbledore is still alive then this is gonna be AU from the events after book six. I will also explain how both Harry and Voldemort could be related to Slytherin.

While Harry lay in the warded room awaiting his inheritence Lucius was failing to maintain his cool demeanour as he rushed through his manor. He found Narcissa and Draco, as always, in the library having tea and discussing Draco's studies. Upon seeing his distressed state they both stopped their hearty discussion immediately.

"Whatever is the matter my love?" Narcissa questioned.

"Harry Potter is- he's- our nephew." With that Lucius slumped in a chair. Shock took over Draco before he jumped and poured his father a firewhiskey from the cart in the corner.

"You cannot be serious Lucius? There's no way! It's not even possible."

"I thought that too but he's currently warded in our inheritence room about to come into full magical abilities. If he was not family he would have been rejected immediately. He also arrived direct from Gringotts through the family floo. And 'Cissa you knew my father, he was, well, charming with the laides." With that he handed them over the letter from Griphook and they took turns reading it.

Narcissa stood to get herself a firewhiskey and poured Draco a small one as well. He was after all a man now and no doubt just as shocked. He took it silently, glad to have something to do with his hands.

"What will this mean Lucius?" She was fearful, her husbands position within the Death Eaters was tenuous these days at best and now she worried that her husband would be murdered before he could ever explain that he had no clue Harry was related to him. Truthfully, she hoped that Lucius could step away from the Dark Lord but that was only ever a dream. One did not simply walk away from Voldemort, you died, by his hand or in his name.

"I honestly do not know. If Harry is strictly stuck to Dumbledore and the light, I cannot support him." His thoughts were basically the same as Narcissa's. He had supported the idea of blood supremacy at 17 but he realised now that Voldemort was nothing but an unhinged madman. He also realised that muggles sometimes had some interesting ideas in terms of science and he was not so above himself to realise that pureblood supremacy was no longer viable. If they kept intermxing the bllodlines anymore they would start being to closely bred to produce anything more than squibs with 6 toes on each foot. "Griphook will visit tomorrow, as you saw from the letter. Once Harry awakens we are going to have to try and ascertain how exactly I, as the head of the family, was unaware of his connection until today. It certainly reeks of Dumbledore, I can smell his decption all over this situation. Draco, you are very quiet, speak your thoughts on this matter."

Despite the cold aloofness displayed for all the world, a mark of true Pureblood training, the Malfoys were a truly close and loving family. They respected each other, were very caring and always took on board each other's opinions whenever any issue arose.

Draco looked up from the spot on the table he was staring at. "I just can't believe it! He's my cousin! I don't know what to think, honestly father, he's going to hate me. Hate us. How could he not. I have made all of my best efforts to undermine, torment and destroy hi for six years."

Lucius understood his son's worries. He had been having similar thoughts. Despite Draco's appearance of being unfazed by everything he knew his son was one of the most sensitive beings to ever roam the earth. He was forver astounded by his son's hidden gentleness and continual need to please and be accepted. Plus, the fact that Narcissa and himself had tried, albeit unsucessfully, to have more children was a sore point for them all. He knew Draco wanted nothing more than a sibling to love and adore. It would also take some of the pressure off him to have somebody else to shoulder the burden of the Malfoy name.

"Perhaps we should just wait until tomorrow, when Harry wakes up and Griphook comes to see what happens." Narcissa offered helpfully.

"You're right my love."

At that moment they felt a wave of power flood the manor. Harry had obviously just reached his majority and the manor almost shook from it's foundations.

"Holy Merlin," came Draco's response. None of the Malfoys had ever felt power like it and the manor was practically glowing with renewed energy it had not received in many years. "What else did Griphook say about Harry's heritage father?"

"Nothing, he stated that it would be explained tomorrow but I have never felt anything like that. There is clearly more to young Mr. Potter than I ever thought possible."

All three Malfoys had unconciously decided then and there that with power like that they would follow Harry anywhere, provided he accepted them.

Meanwhile at Hogwarts ...

The school lay empty save for the elves and the owls. Every staff member had remained the first two weeks in July to finish up their previous years work and would not return for another two weeks to begin final preparations for the year ahead. At 6pm the school practically glowed when it realised that finally a true founding heir had been discovered. It was like the castle had been asleep waiting for this moment. Finally, somebody would be able to fix what was broken and renew Hogwarts for the future.
