I do not own Harry Potter, the characters belong to JK Rowling and I get no money for writing this. It's just for fun.
Worrying
It felt like I had just closed my eyes when I heard Parvati and Lavender talking quietly right outside my curtains.
“Maybe we should wake her. She’ll be upset if she’s late for classes,” Parvati whispered.
“You're probably right. Why don’t you do it? I don’t think she likes me much. At least not since I hurt Ron,” Lavender answered.
“Umm…OK.”
With a little groan I save them from having to argue further.
“It’s alright, I’m awake.”
“Oh good. Hurry and get ready you don’t want to miss breakfast,” Parvati sounded relieved.
“Thanks.” I jump out of bed rushing into the bathroom to clean up. After throwing my uniform on I grab my bag and hurry down the steps.
As I reach the Common Room I notice the only person around is Harry. He is again staring at the fire. Or what would be a fire if it were lit. He looks so worried. I walk up behind him putting my arms around him. He jumped, turning to see who had snuck up.
“Oh Hermione, you startled me.”
“Sorry, you just looked like you needed a hug. What is bothering you?”
“Humpf… what isn’t?” he muttered. “Sorry, thanks for the hug. I’m just going over things in my head for tomorrow.”
“Oh, ok. I’m sure everything will be fine,” I say trying to sound confident. “Did you want to talk about it?”
“No, thanks. I was just waiting for you. Ron already went down. You know how he is, afraid the food will be gone if he isn’t there as soon as breakfast starts,” Harry laughed as we headed to the hall.
“Well, thanks for waiting for me, but you didn’t have to. I would have found you.”
“I kind of wanted to talk to you.” He looked at me as he said this.
I kept my head down afraid of what he wanted to talk about.
“About…?”
“I’ve noticed something has been going on with you. Any chance you want to tell me about it?”
“Just keep thinking about what is going to happen tomorrow.”
“Hermione, you’ve been keeping stuff from us for awhile now. You aren’t in any trouble are you? We can help you if you are. That’s what friends are for.”
“I’m fine Harry, I promise. Right now we need to get past the war, then I’ll talk to you about things, ok? One issue at a time.”
“If you'er sure, but I expect you to keep that promise. Soon,” he said as we entered the Great Hall. “For now let’s have some breakfast.”
We sat beside Ron, hurrying through our breakfast. After finishing we head off for our classes.
Unlike yesterday today has sped by at breakneck pace. I only managed to see Severus once in passing. I smiled when I felt his hand brush mine as we passed in the Hall. He was coming from Dumbledore’s office probably going over last minute instructions. I wish I could have skipped Transfiguration to go after him. Unfortunately McGonagal would not take to kindly to that. Not to mention he would have been upset with me ditching class to be with him. So I continued on my way.
