Chapter 5 Don’t Oogle!

Hermione sighed as she closed the book she was reading. Romance novels were her favorite books despite what her friends might think. She loved the idea of finding your true love and doing what it took to keep them safe and happy. No matter how many times she read Touch of the Highlander by Karen Marie Moning it always made her feel excited about the prospect of finding love. Now with this marriage law she doubted she even had a chance and finding a friendship with her future husband.

When Blaise and his mother had first given her the news about the marriage law she was not surprised. She had been keeping up with the Daily Prophet and she had known this was coming. What had upset her, however, is how little time she had. If she was not spoken for by the end of the summer she would be placed on a list with everyone else not taken and matched at the ministry’s will. While she wanted a say in who she married (she didn’t want to end up with someone like Malfoy) she didn’t know very many pureblood wizards.

Her aunt however had been pleased to in form her that she had already begun making a list and it should be finished in a few weeks. Just enough time for Hermione to narrow her selection down, and by the end of summer she would have to choose from her top three.
Hermione sighed again as she rose from the hot tub she was sitting in she looked at her hair hanging over her shoulder. When she had first arrived her aunt had been so excited about having another female in the house that she had immediately taken Hermione out for a girls day. Hermione had had her hair permanently straightened (she hated combing her hair when it was frizzy. Her hair was not only frizzy but to combs it was deadly) and they had gotten pedicures and manicures. Her hair now fell down to her butt in a straight waved of chestnut. She had to admit she had loved being pampered.

She also looked at her bikini. It was black and red. It was also something she would never have considered wearing around Ron or Harry. Lately however, with the help of her aunt, she had begun dressing more girly figuring her future husband would like to know that she could clean up nice.

As she stepped out of the tub she heard a voice call to her. “Hey honey, dinner is in an hour and mother wants to talk to you.”

“Okay,” She turned around to see Blaise standing with none other then Draco Malfoy. She stiffened and prepared for Malfoy to make a comment on her attire but he didn’t. His mouth simple dropped open and his eyes roamed over her. Hermione blushed slightly and began to walk towards them and the door with a smirk on her face.

¬¬¬¬¬--------------

Draco had arrived at Blaise’s manor and they had instantly begun to talk about the marriage law. While Draco had said he didn’t want to be involved with wife picking process he was still nervous. He didn’t want some shallow woman that would only be interested in the Malfoy name. He also didn’t want someone who he would have to worry about sharing not only his bed but the beds of his friends also. That meant that he could not marry any of the girls he had been with over the past summer or the past school years. If he were honest with himself he wanted someone who was intelligent and could hold a conversation with him about something other than gossip and fashion. He would also like someone who could stand up to his family. As a future Malfoy his bride would have to be able to hold her own in society. Let’s not be stupid though, she would have to be pretty also, and really he could not have anything less than perfect.
As he and Blaise prepared to go play quidditch before dinner Blaise informed Draco he had something to tell him.

“Now you might be angry” Blaise said as they walked towards the pool room, “but you will be nice to her and any comment that comes out of your mouth that is inappropriate swear I will hex your balls off.”

Draco smirked, “Have you already found your bride.”

Blaise smiled slightly, “Not even close,” he said as they walked into the pool house. It took Draco a moment to register that there was someone there. Who ever she was she had a beautiful ass was the first thing Draco thought. Nice legs too!

Draco soon realized that Blaise was speaking to her. She turned around to answer them and Draco let his eyes wander her body. Sweet Goddess was as far as he got before he realized he was oogling Hermione Granger. He felt his jaw fall open and hit the tiled floor of the pool house. As she began to walk towards them he could not help but to watch the gentle sway of her perfectly round hips. He could not help but to notice to slight bounce of her breasts as she walked. Damn! Was all he could think.

As she picked up her towel and walked past them she smirked and said, “You might want to put your eyes back in your head and pick your jaw up off the floor Malfoy.”

He turned and watched her walk out the door. Blaise was silently watching his reaction. He laughed and leaned over and said, “She is right mate. Pick your jaw up off the floor and don’t look at my cousin like that.”

Malfoy spun around in shock and slipped on the wet tiles. As he felt his bum connect with the wet floor all he could think was this was not how he saw this weekend going!
