Rebirth of Merlin

The month of August was a trying time for Albus Dumbledore. After finding the knowledge that Lucas was the son of his Potion's Master, he began digging into everything to find a way for Severus to get his son and also a wife. So far all he was hitting were dead ends.

And on top of that Lilly had come in, while Severus was in his office discussing the next Potion's curriculum. Causing a mild uproar from Severus when he asked Lilly where his son was. Needless to say Albus had to ban him from the office until he explained to Lilly what he meant.

Lilly had been speechless, when Albus had told her that little Lucas belong to Snape. But happy none the less. Now she understood James's actions with her and Lucas. He knew that she had slept with Severus and carried his son.

After she had viewed the pensive memory and listened to Albus on what they needed to do reguarding Lucas. Stating that both her and the boy needed to be present to go over a plan of action should Voldemort attack. Also that she needed to go down and speak to Severus about Lucas and determine what was going to happen when the time was right.

September came and with it a surprize that left Albus, Lilly and in a state of shock. Lucas had been brought to Hogwarts to test his magic levels. While outside Albus and Lilly had heard Lucas start hissing to one of the snakes Hagrid had acquired.

Albus remembering that since the boy could speak parseltongue then maybe he'd be able to remove Snape's mark. So he told Lilly to bring Lucas and follow him leading the way to the dungeons.

{SNAPE'S OFFICE}

Severus Snape was slowly cutting up wormwood for the next potion when his office door flew open. Reveiling Albus, Lilly and to his joy Lucas. He had wanted so much to see the boy, even though he agreed not to mention he was the boy's Father. At least until it was safe.

"Albus, Lilly what do I owe the honor?" Severus said tightly as he looked upon Lucas with a look of longing.

"Severus, we think we've found a solution to one of our problems.(At the sight of Severus's confusion he carried on.) This little one here can speak parseltongue and maybe he can remove your mark." Albus giddly replied while his eyes tinkled.

To say Severus was in shock was an understatement. He couldn't believe his son had acquired the gift. But if Lucas could remove his mistake who was he to say no.
"If the child can remove it, I have no objections."

Lilly moved to place Lucas down at Albus's directions and stood back to see if it could be possible.

"Lucas, I want you to look at something and tell me what you see." Albus softly stated as he motioned the boy to stand beside Severus. "And Severus I need you to sit down while we determine if what I think is possible."

After they both did as he bid, Albus stood back slightly and watched as Severus lifted up his left robe sleeve reveiling the Dark Mark. Lucas looked upon the ugly looking skull with a snake in the middle and blinked when the snake moved.

(AN: This next little section will be Lucas conversing with the snake on Snape's arm. Parseltongue will be inbetween these [])

Lucas bent his face closer to the ugly snake and listened to it speak.
[Stupid, evil speaker wanted me to tell all.]

[Why you listen to evil speaker?] Lucas hissed causing the snake to slither around the skull.

[You speak? Maybe you will be of service to me.]

[How?] Lucas asked with a tilted head.

[Release me of course, snake-child, precious-child] the snake hissed sounding like laughter to Lucas.

[Ok, How?]

The snake stopped moving, for it had seen how young the child was. Thinking of how to get the child to understand how to use will magic, which was more powerful than words. [ I need you to place your hands on both sides of me.(Lucas did that and waited) Now you need to let your magic flow into you hands.(It took Lucas several minutes until his hands began to glow white) Next all you have to do is will me away back to where I came from]

[Ok, I try. If this works will I see you again?]

[No, I will return to were I belong] the snake hissed softly.

[Ok, miss you] Lucas hissed as he closed his eyes. 'Magic make the snake go home. Make it leave. NOW!' Lucas chanted over and over, ignoring the scream from the man of the arm he was holding.

{POV ALBUS}

I watched in fasination as Lucas began to hiss to the Dark Mark. And to my surprize the thing answered. I was confused as to why Lucas grabbed Severus's arm until the boys hands glowed a bright white. I had to stun Severus when he began screaming to keep him from pulling away from Lucas. After words I noticed Lilly had grabbed onto on of the desks to keep her from going over to the two. She was white as a sheet and when Severus had screamed she went white, tears silently flowing down her cheeks.

{LILLY'S POV}

As I watched my baby hissing and spitting is made me shiver. I could never stand snakes, ever since Voldemort. I almost raced to my son when he grabbed my love. ' Oh yes, I never did stop loving Severus'. When he screamed I know my face turned white and I was crying. I'm not sure if It was for Lucas using so much magic or Severus for I couldn't imagine the man's pain. Funny I think I'm crying for both. The only two men I love with all my heart.

{END POV}

Soon Lucas's hands stopped glowing and he released Severus. Turning to his mother, he swayed on his feet but before he let darkness claim him. He spoke like a 14 month old child. Which suprized both his mother and Albus. " Ima sleepy mama."

Albus caught the child before he hit the ground. Lifting him into his arms before releasing Severus from the Stupefy spell. "It seems that when Lucas uses to much magical energy his speech changes."

Lilly just nodded her agreement as she tended to Severus. Knowing that Albus would take care of Lucas personnally.

Severus started to come around when he felt soft hands running over his face. Sighing he opened his eyes to be greeted with a smiling Lilly. "Hi" Severus whispered while thinking.
'Hi, how lame have I become'

Lilly just giggled before she kissed his lips. She couldn't help it. Severus was shocked when her lips covered his. But he soon began to respond it had been so long since he had tasted her.

Albus started to cough loudly, trying to gain their attention. For you see Lucas had woken up and he was staring wide-eyed at them.

Severus/Lilly broke apart and looked at Albus and Lucas sheepishly.

"Lucas will be speaking funny for awhile. I'm afraid that he used alot of magic. It will take several weeks for it to be back to normal level." Albus explained as he placed Lucas into his Mother's arms.

"You ok baby?" Lilly whispered as she nuzzled Lucas's neck.

"Ima good." he sighed as he fell back into slumber.

Severus couldn't help himself, he reached out to hold his son. Even though he couldn't claim him just yet. He still wanted to hold him for the moment.

Lilly watched as Severus reached for Lucas. Understanding what he wanted she handed Lucas off to his Father, with a smile.

"Why don't the three of us adjourn to your quarters Severus and part take in lunch. The students will not miss us in the Great Hall, after all it is a weekend." Albus remarked while he watch the three people he felt were his family.

James Potter was currently in the Dragon Inn with his latest conquest, a woman by the name of Katrina Fitz. She was around 5'6 and about 115 pounds with blondish red hair and brown eyes. He had met her in mid March and they had hit it off. Plans were being made by the two of them to marry after the New Year after his planned divorced to his current wife.

Jamie had met her several times and it seemed as though he liked her. So James didn't feel bad about giving the boy a new Mother. He just hoped that when Jamie was older and he learned the truth, his son wouldn't hate him.

October came in cold as the leaves had turned and continued to fall. Albus Dumbledore was still currently searching for a way to nulify Lilly's marriage to James so she and Lucas could be with Severus Snape as in his opinion was as it should have been.

Severus Snape was still angry and there not being anything as of yet to get Lilly and Lucas away from James. He had spent many lunches with her but had not seen Lucas since the day he removed the mark. And that bothered him. Lilly had explained to him that while she wanted them to bond it was to risky. She didn't want them to be to attached and then unable to be a family.

The thirty first on October came quickly, as both boy's were now fifteen months old. Lucas was currently helping his Mama in the kitchen while she baked cookies. Of course all he was doing was hovering around her in his Levi chair as he had come to call it.

Jamie was with his Father somewhere in Diagon Alley, not that Lilly cared. Don't misunderstand she loved the boy, but he just didn't want anything to do with her.
Jamie had in the past weeks stopped letting her feed or hold him. And if she tried he would scream for his Daddy.

Lilly had taken to sleeping in one of the guest rooms at the beginning of October with Lucas. She just couldn't bring herself to remain in the same room as her 'Husband'. The man had become slightly abusive towards her. Not phyically but verbally, telling her she was a terrible mother and wife among other things. She knew better, James was courting a muggleborn witch six years his junior, not that she minded. It just gave her more reason to stay away from him.

While she was doing the baking for Lucas's favorite cookies as the boy hovered around her. She couldn't help but laugh. James had despised that chair from the beginning. And had often tried to throw it out. The only thing that stopped him was Albus telling him that Lucas using that chair was a blessing, for it helped him keep his accidental magic in control. James just didn't like the fact that Jamie didn't have the control to use it, so he wanted a reason to destroy it.

Later that night while James had already put Jamie down for the night, so he could relax in the parlor. Lilly was fighting with Lucas, for some reason he didn't want to sleep. He just kept saying "No Ma Ma, bad night, bad night!" over and over. She just figured that he wanted to sleep with her, like he had been. But she wanted a night alone, which was why he was back in the nursery in his old bed.

BANG!!!!!!!!!!!!!BANG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When she heard the banging downstairs and James yell at her to take the boys and run. She looked at Lucas. Who just looked at her with understanding eyes. The night they had feared was here.

"Bad night, run Mother!" yelled Lucas as he pointed to the door.

And Lilly did just that she ran until she was down the hall inside a warded closet made just for this purpose. 'Please Merlin, let the boys be safe. Don't let this be a mistake'
she spoke inwardly over and over.

{NURSERY}

The door slammed open causing the hindges to break apart. The Dark Lord entered the room looking around curiously wondering why Lilly was not present. He had promised Wormtail that she would be spared. He didn't even kill Potter Sr. the only one he wanted dead was the one prophecied to kill him.

Looking around he heard a child crying for his daddy. This child had shagging black hair and brown eyes. 'The Potter heir' he thought as he raised his wand to cast the curse until he heard a giggle.

Lucas watched the red eyed man from his bed. And after he walked over to his 'brother' raising his wand. He began to giggle to get the bad man to turn around.

Lord Voldemort(Tom Riddle) turned sharply at the giggling sound to see a smaller child with shoulder length black hair and emerald eyes ringed in gold. 'This is the child of prophecy. He recalled one of his followers saying that rumors had the child dead. For no one had seen it for since the beginning of the year.'

"So baby Potter, your the one to hold the reborn soul of Merlin."

Lucas just smiled. A smile so mysterious that said I know something you don't. And I'm not telling.

Voldemort's eyes widened briefly at the childs smile. "You have no clue what I'm going to do to you child."

Lucas didn't respond, his eyes had faintly begun to glow as his power was rising and waiting. He didn't know why, but he knew when the green light came to release his power and then call for Mama. At least that was what Granpa Alby told him to do.

"ADVERDA KEDEVRA" hiss Voldemort as he watched the killing curse head for the child.

Lucas saw green and released his power. He soon felt something hit his forehead, but he continued to push his power. And then he saw a golden light strike the bad man. He had to close his eyes from the brightness, hearing two screams. Lucas couldn't tell, he was beginning to get tired. At seeing the bad man gone he called for his Mama. Just before darkness came, he saw red hair and knew all was well.

Lilly heard Lucas call for her and came running. When she entered the nursery she gasped as she looked at the destruction. Where Jamie's crib was he was crying for on his forehead there was a 'S' shaped cut that was bleeding. Putting a silencing spell on him she turned to her Lucas-angel. Having to close her eyes at the lighnting bolt marking his forehead. 'Albus was right, Lucas carries the soul of Merlin.' she thought as she remembered what Albus had told her about covering the mark. After doing so she covered Lucas after kissing his forehead, then releasing the silencing spell from Jaime. She stupified herself after she had laid down on the floor. Just as planned, now all she had to do was wait for Albus.

Albus Dumbledore heard the alarm blaring at him as he entered his office. He knew that the Cottage had been attacked and turned to the Floo. Hoping that the plan worked and that Lilly was still alive or he feared there would be trouble.

When he entered the home of the Potter's. The first thing he saw was James stunned by the kitchen door, leaving him there he turned to the stairs and entered the nursery. Lilly was laying on the floor stunned.

"Eneverate!" Albus snapped his wand on Lilly to release the spell.

Putting a silencing spell around the room. He asked if all went according to plan. At her nod of yes he had her lay back down and stunned her again. Before he went back downstairs to James.

After James was revived the man ran for the nursery. Walking right over his 'wife' he grabbed a crying Jamie and left the room. Thinking that Albus could revive Lilly.

"It won't be long Lilly before your both safe from James. Give me til Christmas and you'll both be free."

"Thank You Albus. I don't know how long I could stand being here once you tell James the Jaime defeated Voldemort." Lilly said with a smirk.

"That's right Lilly. Jamie can be hailed the boy-who-lived. While Lucas will be trained for his birth-rite." Albus chuckled softly as he lifted Lucas from the crib and led her from the room.

The next morning the Daily Prophet screamed:

YOU-KNOW-WHO VANQUISHED: JAMIE POTTER THE BOY-WHO-LIVED

The whole month of November the Aurors from the Ministry had their hands full. They were capturing Deatheaters daily, before shipping them off the Azkaban Prison. They had even tried to go after Lord Lucius Malfoy and Lord Severus Snape only to find that neither of them carried the Dark Mark and had to publicly apologise as well as compensate them for the error. Unknown to them that Lucas had removed Lord Snape's.

(AN: Yes I know but I want Lucius to be a Dark Wizard. But I refuse to have him lower himself to Voldemort.)

A week before Christmas Lilly and James were having breakfast with the children when two Ministry owls decended one for Lilly and the other James. Lilly didn't know what Albus had done. She just knew that letter had to contain her freedom.

We at the Ministry have found the betrothal contract that your adopted parents signed to be null and void. You are here by released of any obligations to James Alexander Potter. You are free to do as you will. However we are aware of the child Lucas Evan Snape and as such must express that said child be taken to his Father within the next 48 hours. If not then legal charges will be placed against you.

Without a word she put Lucas on her hip and headed upstairs to their room. Packing all that belonged to Lucas that was not purchased with Potter's money. Then packed all that was her's before placing the wedding band on the dresser of the Master bedroom. Shrinking all their belongings she walked downstairs heading for the door with Lucas still attached.
She had just about reached the front door when James stopped her.

"Where do you think your going Lilly?" he snarled as he tried to stop her only to be thrown to the floor by Lucas's flick of the wrist.

"Anywhere but here. This marriage has been nullified. You would have know that if you read the letter earlier. I'm taking my son to his Father and you will stay away from us if you know what's good for you Potter!" snarled Lilly before exiting the Cottage with Lucas never looking back.

James couldn't believe it. She had out smarted him and now when this became public knowledge, he would be a laughing stock. And knowing Snivillus as he did. The man would make sure the papers would know everything and then rub his face in it painfully.
