Stop Quivering, Mr. Longbottom

Chapter 6 – Stop Quivering, Mr. Longbottom

Sorry about the wait, but I finally have my flash drive back! Enjoy the next chapter!

~~~
Neville Longbottom was terrified. He’s just gotten word from Dennis Creevey, who had been in the hospital wing longer than he or his brother, that Professor Snape intended to interrogate him about his butt affliction. The Creevey brothers did not know who was behind their incident. Only Neville knew the truth for certain.
Neville did not want to get any of his friends into trouble, but he didn’t want Snape bombarding him with questions and demands for names.
He didn’t know how long he could keep it up, but he would avoid the Potions Master for as long as possible.
~~~

Severus was beyond pissed off. That little failure Longbottom had managed to slip away from him twice in the hallway. And when he’d asked him to stay after class, the little fool ‘accidentally’ dropped a potions mix on himself and needed to go to the hospital wing. It was obvious that he didn’t want to name names.

He most certainly would. This was too important to him. His pride needed to be avenged, his darkness satisfied. He would make the brat talk if that’s what it took. Whoever was sabotaging him, they were going to pay.

SMACK

He stumbled for a moment. “Watch where you’re going Mr. Creevey!” Severus snarled.

“Y-yes sir,” Colin stuttered back.

“Ah yes, are you heading to Gryffindor tower?” Severus asked.

“Er…yes sir,” he said reluctantly.

“I have just come from the hospital wing, looking for Mr. Longbottom. I was told that he was released an hour ago,” Severus told him. “If he is in Gryffindor tower, please tell him to report to my office immediately.”

“Yes sir,” Colin said sullenly.

“And be warned, I shall know if you do not pass on my message,” he said. “And if you do not, you will not like the punishment at all.

A shiver went down Colin’s spine.

Severus swept off to his office.

~~~
Everyone in the tower was fearfully silent.
“W-what?” Neville said, his voice squeaky.
“Snape wants to see you in his office immediately,” repeated Colin Creevey, looking very nervous for Neville. He and Neville had spent time together in the hospital wing after their housemates sabotaged their underwear with bubotuber pus. At least the two of them and Dennis had had each other when they’d had to explain their affliction to Madam Pomphrey. They had begun to grow on each other.
“What did you do?” demanded Ron. “He’ll kill you! And with all this prankster stuff that has happened to him, your body is going to turn up in the forest!”
“I haven’t done anything!” Neville insisted, but he still looked very scared.
“Don’t be silly, Ron. A teacher wouldn’t actually harm a student, no matter what they did to him,” Hermione said, but she looked quite wary.
“Keep telling yourself that, ‘Mione,” Harry told her.
Hermione’s face turned a horrible pale white.
“What’s wrong with you?” Harry asked her, concerned.
She regained her composure.
“Nothing, I’m just concerned for Neville,” she lied quickly. “Well, if you haven’t done anything, you should be alright.”
“Maybe it’s for something good,” suggested Lavender.
Everyone looked at her as if she’d lost her mind.
“If I don’t come back, I suppose you’ll know,” Neville said gloomily, and walked out of the portrait hole.
Hermione knew exactly why Snape wanted to see Neville. He’d made the bubotuber pus connection between Neville’s privates and his butt. She should have anticipated that, as she knew full well that Snape was no fool. It would have been safer to wait a few weeks.
But she had wanted that rush…in fact, at that very moment, she wanted it again. It was like an addiction, except that she could never settle for something smaller again. First, she had thrown the explosive ingredient in Malfoy’s cauldron. Then, she had tattooed his ass with bubotuber pus. Her last trick had been mixing up his potions ingredients.
But that wasn’t as risky as what she’d done to him before. She had been disappointed with the rush, until the Potions Master had walked in and nearly caught her. She’d come to realize that she would have to escalate every time if she wanted that rush, or it just wasn’t the same. She would be playing with fire in a pool of gasoline. And she loved it.
Of course, she would be sure to cover her tracks. She wasn’t stupid enough to leave a trail. Neville would likely divulge the information when Snape interrogated him. That left her with only one option.
The only two who knew she had gotten the bubotuber pus were Dean and Seamus, Neville’s attackers. She only had to make it so they couldn’t tell.
There was no choice; she’d have to obliviate them both.
“Hey Dean, Seamus,” she called, getting their attention. “I promised to let you guys see my potions notes, but I left my bag in McGonagall’s class. Want to come get it with me?”
“Sure,” the both said.
Ha, that was too easy! she thought with glee.
Unfortunately for Hermione, she was right.
“Why do you want to go with two guys?” Ron asked loudly.
Hermione saw red.
“I promised to let them see my notes!” she snapped.
“How do I know if that’s true?” Ron demanded.
“It isn’t any of your business, Ron!” she yelled. “Get out of my damn business and stay out!”
“It is so my business, you’re my girlfriend!” he shouted. “We love each other! People who love each other have a right to each other’s business!”
“I never said that I loved you,” Hermione said coldly.
That shut the whole room up, including Ron.
“Now then, shall we?” she said to Dean and Seamus.
They walked out, leaving Ron boiling in an unseen rage.
Severus was grading papers in his office, cursing his bad luck earlier in the day. He looked up when an extremely light knock sounded on his door.
“Come in,” he said.
He could almost hear a mental curse before the door opened, revealing his visitor.
“Ah Mr. Longbottom, I’ve been trying to get a hold of you all day,” he said, smirking menacingly. “It is almost as if you have been avoiding me.”
“I-I don’t know what you mean,” Neville lied.
“Of course not,” he sneered. “Either way, you are here now.”
“Yes, sir,” Neville said, resigned to his fate.
“I heard about your little incident, as well as the Creevey brothers,” he said.
Neville was dreading this.
“Now, I want the name or names of the people who did that to you,” he said, laying on the line.
“W-why should that matter?” he asked.
“Because the bubotuber pus used on you three was proven to also be used on me,” he snarled. “I demand you give me the names.”
“But I know for a fact that the people who did weren’t around when you were attacked,” he tried.
“The names, Mr. Longbottom,” he snapped. “And stop your quivering, it’s pathetic.”
He picked up a bottle of veritaserum.
“You will tell me either way, boy, make no mistake. Will it be the easy way or the hard way?” he asked.
Neville stayed silent.
“Very well,” he said, and forced the potion down Neville’s throat.
Uh oh. Snape is beginning to get dark in his quest for Hermione. What will Neville tell him? And what happened with Dean and Seamus? Find out next time!
