A Bit Peckish
Granger walked in and sat down across from my desk, I was grading essays. I glanced up her and kept going which only made her raise an eyebrow. She finally sighed and got up, leaning over to get in my face.
“Malfoy, Harry’s disappeared,” she growled, I leaned back.
“Has he? So why did you come to me?”
“Because we need your help. Whatever took Harry also took Remus Lupin and the auror Callisto Black. Aurors are crawling all over the place but nobody can find them,” she explained, I shook my head.
“What could I possibly do that none of the others could do?”
“You and I graduated at the top of our class, on top of that, even though you two don’t like each other, you both know each other better than most others. Besides the fact that you traded wands for a while and all that, I would imagine that would have a lot to do with it also,” she explained, I nodded thoughtfully.
“So will you help us?” She sat down expectantly. I shrugged and looked down on the papers scattered over my desk.
“Fine, I’ll help,” I finally answered, she grinned and thanked me.
~~~~~!!!~~~~~
We walked around the ancient castle, Ginny had somehow tagged along and was stomping along after us, Granger had torn her a new one when she popped into existence next to us. I glanced around the campfire area where the supposed kidnapping took place.
“What do you think happened to them?” Granger breathed as we peeked into the darkness.
“I don’t know but I wonder who the target is because they sure are luring a lot of people here,” I murmured.
“They?” She turned to look at me, I shrugged.
“Do you really think one person could bring down and drag off a werewolf? I can only hope that we’re dealing with humans also,” I grumbled, squatting down next to the scattered campfire and reached in to pull out a small twinkling necklace with a small emerald at the end. I held it up for Granger to take and inspect.
“What is it?” Ginny crowded in next to the older female.
“Would you look at that, I think we know who the target is,” Granger looked up at me, I stood up and looked down on the small inscription on the back.
“To the love of my life, Narcissa Black,” Ginny read, following Granger’s look, I raised an eyebrow at them.
“I-what was that?” I shouted, pointing into the woods behind them, they both scattered behind me and I laughed.
“You two are so easy to get,” I turned to them.
“Hah hah Malfoy. So how do you explain why this is here?” Granger held up the jewel, I shrugged.
“I have no clue, I’ve never seen that necklace before in my life,” I answered.
“Well it’s getting dark so we better head back,” Ginny spoke up.
“Yeah, come on,” Granger started down the well worn path towards the small village nearby.
~~~~!!!~~~~
I sat in my room at the only inn currently at this small village staring out into the blackness that covered this land. Ireland was so beautiful but at the same time so miserable, no wonder these people drank so much. The cold alone could do you in. I took another swig of the beer I had commandeered from the bar. I had already rescued many bottles with Granger and Ginny. After watching Granger sway dangerously on her stool, we deemed it a wise choice to head on up to bed. But I couldn’t sleep. There was something that just bugged me and it was right there underneath the surface. There was a soft knock on my door and I called for them to enter. Ginny softly closed the door behind her as I turned my head.
“Yes Ms. Weasley?” I quirked an eyebrow at her, she gave me a small smile before fully walking into my room.
“I wanted to know if you really didn’t have a clue about where they could have gone,” She murmured, I shrugged, watching her sit down on my bed.
“Cherry, I may be the sexiest man alive but I am not omnipotent,” I leaned forward to grin at her.
“I’ll have to agree,” she slid forward onto her knees, pulling my legs apart and staring up at me innocently. I shook my head and looked back up at the window.
“Some days I confuse myself,” I vaguely murmured as I felt her nuzzle against my thigh.
“About what?”
“Mostly on why the irony of life has to come crashing through my own plans like some vengeful bitch,” I looked back down on her, running my free hand through her soft hair.
“It’s going to get a lot worse before it gets better,” she whispered, opening her eyes to look up at me, I frowned.
“What do you know?” I asked her, she looked down and took a deep breathe.
“It’s not my fault,” she started wiping at her eyes, I got up, dropping the beer in my hand as the world started to shift violently.
~~~~~~!!!~~~~~~
I don’t remember hitting the floor but I must have because there was an epic sized bruise on my left shoulder and my head pounded like an ogre was stomping on it. I glared up and around me at the swaying woods. It was early morning, the sky was slowly turning a pretty gray color. I groaned, sitting up while holding onto my head. It looked like I was in a grassy clearing, ancient standing stones ringed the area. I slowly rose to my feet and walked towards one of them. I laid my hand on one of them then started past them but something kept me rooted from going further. I should have figured they had put a containment spell on the place. I sighed deeply and turned to go sit down and wait for whatever was going to come.
