The Heat of the Flame

CHAPTER SIX

The heat of the Flame

Ron, still angry at both Hermione and Harry, hadn’t come out of his room in Grimmauld place for days. Hermione had tried in vain to get him to come down and eat or think out what to do next with her and Harry. Each time, he yelled at her to go away.
Giving up on him, she returned, deflated, to Harry, who sat near the fire he created with his wand. Hermione sat beside him, the kiss long forgotten.

“Do you think she’s there with Sirius?” Harry asked her one evening, as she set to work on a book she found in the Black Library.

“I suppose. And you know she’s looking down on us now, wishing she could help.” Hermione sighed. She sat down her book and scooted over to Harry, who was on the floor. “You can’t blame yourself, Harry. There isn’t anything you could have done for her.”

“But if I had seen her….”

“Harry, there isn’t anything you could have done. If there was, I know you would have done it. You can’t work off emotion anymore, not with Voldemort around.” She said, touching his shoulder. She released it and, looked into his eyes. He was drawn in by the brown pools of her pupils. Slowly, their lips met.

Soft kisses rained down Hermione’s neck as Harry made his way to her collarbone. Hermione drew a sharp breath as he reached her shirt collar. He reached around her thin neck and pulled her into a deep kiss, not remembering why, but just that he had to feel her warm mouth again.
Hermione tugged at his shirt, pulling it up halfway to reveal his chest. He, in turn, pulled at her shirt, which he managed to get completely off. His hand caressed her soft mounds as she moaned slightly. Harry laid her gently on the rug in front of the fire, the heat trickling down his semi-bare back. He took his shirt off the rest of the way, and then bent down to kiss her lips again.

“Harry..” Hermione said her voice soft and low.

“Shhh! Its okay.” Harry said, kissing her stomach. She giggled, then pulled his face up to hers, kissing him more deeply than before. He tugged at her bra straps, gently cascading them down her arms. Her warm globes burst free as Harry pushed the bra down past them. Taking one in his mouth, he gently sucked, as Hermione moaned, low but audible. Her fingers whipped through his hair, her fingers entangled in his brown web of locks. She buckled as he took the other in his mouth as well.
Suddenly, a door squeaked open down the hall. Hermione and Harry quickly got up and dressed. Not more than a minute or two later, Ron showed up, grasping a letter in his hand. Ron spoke, his tone low.

“Mum has sent a letter along with Errol. Here you can read it.” He said, flopping a letter down on the tattered desk near the window. Harry and Hermione bent over to see the writing on it.

Ron, Harry and Hermione,

Mad-eye has informed us of our dear Ginny. We are safe at a location away from the burrow. Your father is trying to make arrangements for you to come to our location, where we can grieve together. I hope you understand that Ginny is watching out for you. She always will be now. I love you all, and please stay safe!

MOLLY WEASLEY

“When did you receive this?” Hermione asked her eyes suspicious.

“A few days ago. Didn’t know that was important to you.” Ron said, his face turned up in anger.

“Location? Where are they?” Harry asked no response was made.

A great burst of light filled the room so suddenly, that Hermione yelled a spell without her wand, and ended up making the light brighter instead. Their hands shielding their eyes, three figures emerged from the light.

“Ah, Potter. You should be used to these lights by now.” A voice said. Harry recognized it to be Remus Lupin.

“Professor Lupin?” Harry asked the light fading from the room. “Tonks? Is that you, McGonagall?” Harry asked, bewildered at the sight before him.

“We’ve come to take you to the Weasleys. Surely Ron told you we were coming?” Tonks asked, eyeing Ron with curiosity.

“No, he did not. He forgot to mention that fact to us!” Hermione said, slapping his arm. “How are we going to get there?”

“Well, I’m afraid it’s not that simple. We can’t use any magic to get where we need to go.” McGonagall said. “At least not after we leave here.”

“What do you mean, Professor?” Ron asked his expression confused.

“Weasley, do you know what I teach?” She smiled, her face old but alive. “You will be transfigured into animals until we are safely away from here and we can no longer be tracked.”

“Animals? We’ve never been transfigured into animals!” Hermione said her excitement showing.

“Yes, Ms. Granger. Death Eaters are all around us. You never know who might be one…”
