Relationships, Potions, and Balls Oh My!
Hermione walked into the Great Hall just in time to catch a bite of breakfast before heading off to Potions with Slytherin. Harry, Ginny, and of course Ron were already seated and talking in a carefree way. Realizing there was no where to sit except beside Ron, she took a deep breath and went to take her seat.
"Good morning," she said almost pleasantly to her friends.
"Hey 'Mione."
Ron looked at her, slightly irritated. "What, no good morning kiss for the love of your life?"
'Maybe once, but no longer,' she thought to herself as she dutifully gave him a quick peck to avoid a scene. She loaded a plate just as the doors opened to allow Draco to stroll in for his own breakfast. She couldn't help but stare, he seemed more attractive when he was actually acting like a human being and that was exactly what he seemed like last night.
Ron, noticing that her attention was focused somewhere that wasn't on him, put his arm around her waist and squeezed hard enough to make her wince.
"Well, I don't know about the rest of you," she exclaimed, desparately thinking of a way to get away,"but I don't want to be late my first day with Snape, we all know how he is."
She stood up and practically ran out of the Great Hall to the dungeons without even hearing her friends cry out that she had barely eaten anything. Little did she realize that two pairs of eyes watched her leave, both furious but for two very different reasons.

Draco saw Hermione leave the Great Hall and knew it was because of that low life bastard. Never before had he ever wanted to tear someone apart with his bare hands the way he did the Weasel. It must have been obvious, becuase Blaise asked him if he was alright. It was then and there a plan started forming in his head.
"Blaise, my dear friend walk with me down to class and we'll talk on the way there."
As the two strode down the halls into the dungeons, Draco proceded to tell Blaise everything.

Snape came into the room, cloak billowing behind him as per usual and looked around the advanced potions group for 7th year only in his usual snarky way of doing everything.
"Today," he announced, "I will assign you partners and that person shall be your partner for the rest of the year. Now listen closely as I won't repeat myself. Bulstode-Potter, Weasley-Parkinson, Zabini-Patil, Longbottom-Crabbe, Greengrass-Thomas, Finnegan-Nott, Brown-Goyle, and Malfoy-Granger. Now if you would all move to sit with your partners we can begin. Today you will converse with your partner to determine what type of potion you shall make out of the three choices I give you. Those choices are a desire, a dream, and a relaxation potion. After you decide you will write a paper naming all the different types of that potion, the uses of it, and the main ingredients. Later you will choose one variant of your chosen realm to make with your partner and you have no more that one week to finish that first paper. Begin"
Hermione sat down beside Draco, wondering at her luck to get saddled with him. Not that she wasn't happy, it just seemed....strange that now that they are getting along in a way she ends up paired with him in almost everything.
"So, what type of potion were you thinking of?" He asked, breaking her out of her thoughts.
"Huh? Oh, well I don't know, I was actually leaning towards the dream potion, there are so many different ones to choose from that all influence your sleep and dreams in so many different ways. In fact, did you know...."
Draco cut her off before she started talking her ear off. "Yes, but if say we chose the desire potion, I've heard of one that actually can look into your subconcsious and let you know something you want or even need that you had absolutely no clue about, it supposedly tells your deepest, darkest desire. Now to me, that sounds like a project worth doing."
She hadn't even realized he started to lean into her as he spoke those lines about a deep, dark desire. Hadn't realized he was practically breathing in her ear until he moved away to listen to what she said. Of course, she looked around guiltily to make sure Ron hadn't noticed either, in no way shape or form did she want him to 'teach' her a lesson about being faithful to him. To her relief, he was in the middle of a heated argument with Pansy Parkinson on what type of potion 'they' should do.
"You know what, Draco? I think a desire potion is a fabulous idea."
And then she grinned at him. Not one of those masked smiles that didn't even come close to reaching her eyes, but a full-blown grin with her eyes twinkling. It damn near stopped his heart and that smile was what told him he was doing the right thing. Before either of them knew it, class was over and Professor Dumbledore wished to speak with them.
They walked upto his office in amiable silence, just as comfortable as if they had been talking about the weather or some such.
Once inside, the two Heads sat down across from the silvered Headmaster as he looked them over for a second.
"It seems you two haven't had any problems as of yet and the pleases me to no end. Now, onto business. As you both know, time passes pretty fast, before you know it, it's the end of the week or the year. All Hallow's Eve is coming up and I would very much like it if you started planning now, giving me weekly reports as to how things are coming along."
"Of course, Professor, will that be it?" Hermione asked.
"Well, there is just one small matter that I have decided upon for the ball."
"And what, may I ask, might that be?" Draco questioned, trying his best to be polite.
"It's simple enough, my dear boy. All you and Miss Granger have to do is to attend the ball together."

Thank you all for waiting, I can't say how nice it is to finally be back to my story tho. As usual, any and all reviews are welome
