Chapter Six: The White Knight of the Twilight
Chapter Six: The White Knight of the Twilight
Lily laid in her room on her bed for a long time trying to get comfortable. It wasn't so much that the blankets were itchy, but she was starving. She tucked the mirror into the garter of her stocking again and got out of bed. She hoped that Card wouldn't be in the halls this late at night, she'd hate to have him catch her. Lily opened the door and slowly crept out of of her room before closing her door behind her. "Damn.." she whispered to herself. At night time it was much harder to find her way through the huge house, so naturally she got lost on her way to the kitchen. She roamed the halls, searching for any sign of familiarity.
Also walking through the halls coming around the opposite side of the corridor someone else roamed the halls. He was silent, and seemed to move through the shadows since Lily looked all around her and saw nothing in the flames of the torches through the dungeon halls. Lily heard something; It was a tapping on the floor that sounded much like foot-falls. Her wolf ears perked up as she listened to where the noise was coming from so she could avoid it at all costs. The foot-falls were too heavy for a house-elf to make, so it had to be a person. Lily couldn't hear the sound of the foot-falls anymore. She started to back up, thinking she was moving closer to the kitchen. Instead she bumped abruptly into something. Not hard enough to be part of the wall, and far too tall to be a house elf. Lily fell to the ground and looked up behind her, seeing Card's face looking down at her. "Master!" Lily gasped, backing up "I...I'm so sorry..I was just..I..I just.."
Lily's Master blinked "Uh...are you alright?" he asked in a manner much nicer then Card's normal tone. He even held out both hands to help her up. "I..." Lily started, looking confused "Yes, Master..I'm fine.." She was a bit shocked when she saw a warm smile across his lips "Ah, you're the muggle girl, aren't you?" he asked, taking a step toward her "Half-blood...." she stuttered a little "Master." she corrected herself quickly. He shook his head "You don't have to call me Master. Are you hungry? Is that why you're out of bed?" he asked, sounding concerned. Lily had come to the conclusion by now that this was not Cardington Greenbay. She nodded "Yes. Actually I'm starving..I didn't have much of an appetite today." The man smiled "Well what are the odds? I was just about to get myself a bite to eat too. Walk with me?" He asked, offering his arm. Lily nodded slowly and gently held his arm, letting him lead her to the kitchen. It wasn't long until they reached the kitchen and finally could see each other in light instead of just torches and candles that were held on the dungeon walls.
"There you are, and in proper light now, too..." He said grinning as he looked down at Lily. He was a head taller then her, just like Card. In the light, Lily could see the difference in their eyes. "Who..who are you?" Lily asked in a bit of a dreamy voice as she looked up at him. "His brother" The man said as he looked up toward Card's room above them. "Twin brother, to be precise..I'm Lang." he said as he gently lifted one of Lily's hands to his lips and placed a delicate kiss above her middle knuckle "And you are?" Lily smiled feeling her knees starting to go weak "Lily...I mean, Miss Lupin...I mean..." she stammered, clearly too smitten to even know how to introduce herself. "Lily it is.." Lang said with that same smirk that Card had. The one that made Lily quiver. "A pleasure to meet you, Lily." Lily smiled "The pleasure is mine...Lang, you are much nicer of a person then your brother.." she said with a small sigh. "I try to be, thats for sure" Lang said leaning against the counter "But remember, you're still our slave..even though you don't have to worry about that 'Master' thing with me." Lily smiled "I appreciate that."
Lang thanked a house-elf who brought them each a sandwich. Lily thanked the elf too, and then started eating. "So, Lily....are you doing alright here?" Lang asked as he began to eat as well. Lily nodded slowly "I guess so..but Voldemort was here earlier. I made him angry and he left because I cringed when he touched me. Also..my brother Teddy told me to watch out for Card..they say he's Voldemorts new right hand man.." "Yeah..." Lang said before taking a bite of his sandwich. Lily could tell there were things he was leaving out. "Lang...do you know more?" she asked, finishing her sandwich for the simple reason that she needed food, otherwise she would have lost her appetite long ago. Lang nodded "Some..but not much. Card is still technically the oldest, so he knows more." Lang looked down and saw the desperation for answers in Lily's big brown eyes. "Honestly, Lily..if i knew more, I would tell you.."
Lily nodded "Its alright...I..I guess I'm just a bit paranoid, and maybe jumpy. I should go back to my room.." Lang smiled "I can respect that. Let me walk you?" Lily nodded with a small smile and started to walk back toward her room with Lang. "Tell me, Lily...what sort of information are you trying to get?" Lily looked up at him, and then straight ahead again "Greyback..." Lily started, even the mention of his name when it was from her own mouth terrified her. "Will he let Fenrir Greyback near me?" Lang stopped walking and put his hands comfortingly on her waist "No..I honestly don't think he will. No, if he did you would be useless to us then. But...just don't let him know you know that." Lily felt her heart skip when Lang's hands touched her waist. "I..." she shivered slightly "I wont let him know.." she said as she looked into his eyes. Lang smiled as he met her gaze "Perhaps I'll pay you a visit tomorrow night?" "I'd like that.." Lily said blushing slightly. She was already smitten with Lang, but she knew she'd be punished if Card found out.
The two stared into each others eyes long enough that it felt like everything stopped around them. Lily's lips parted slightly..she wanted to kiss Lang, and stay in his embrace for as long as she could, but knew Card wouldn't tolerate that kind of relationship between his brother and their pet. "I...I had better get to my room.." she said, still staring into his eyes. "Oh....Right.." Lang said, keeping his hands on Lily's waist. He wouldn't break the gaze either. Lily's hands slowly slid up Lang's arms. She shivered feeling how strong he was underneath his shirt, and it took everything she had to suppress a quiet moan. Lang's lips curved into a smile when he felt Lily's hands moving up his arms. The two wanted nothing more then to kiss each other, and take each other right there in the hallway. Lily slid one hand up to the back of Lang's neck before Lang pressed against the small of Lily's back to pull her closer to him. Lily smiled and gently brushed her lips against his Adam's-apple. Lang lowered his lips to hers and kissed her very gently, almost like she was going to break. Lily loved his light kiss..she returned it happily, only making the kiss just a little deeper when she pulled him closer to her. The two shared a very slow, gentle kissing session until Lang leaned back "Lets go to my room..you can sleep there tonight."
Lily smiled "Alright.." she said, happy that not only would she get to spend the night with Lang, but she wouldnt have to sleep in the dark, damp room that was assigned to her by Card. She walked with Lang to his room, holding onto his arm as he lead her like a perfect gentleman would. Lang couldn't keep his eyes off of Lily. He knew the way to his room without looking though, so they made it there without getting lost anywhere aside from in each other's eyes again. "Here we are" Lang said, opening his door. It was a very nice room..almost as big as Card's. "Master Cardington wont get angry at me for being here, will he?" Lily asked looking up at Lang. Lang grinned "We have equal ownership. Have you been to his room?" Lily nodded "Thats the room i met Voldemort in.." Lang half-nodded "He'll be here tomorrow too." "Great..." Lily said with a small sigh as she watched Lang lean against the door frame. "Have you got your mirror?" Lang asked looking at Lily and wondering where she would stash it. "I do," Lily said, lifting her skirt slightly to reveal the mirror tucked in her garter strap. Lang grinned "Good" he said looking the stockings over "Oh...I like those..." he said as he reached down to her legs, brushing his fingertips against her stockings.
Lily's body tensed up, but in a good way. "Well..I do sort of like the uniform.." she said to him, feeling herself shivering when he lifted his hand "It looks good on you. And these.." he said touching her ears, wondering if they were real or fake. Lily closed her eyes "They're real.." she said, blushing as she let out a small sigh. Lang blinked "Real?" Lily looked into his eyes "Lang, visiting me tomorrow night wont be such a good idea...Its a full moon, and I become a little different.." Lang blinked "You mean...you're...a..." Lily looked down "Fenrir Greyback turned my father when he was young..and then years later when I was born, he attacked again. He killed my mother, but didn't get to me. I think thats why he wants me now.." Lang sighed slowly, taking in everything she said. He lifted her chin with a curved index finger until she was looking up into his eyes again. "Greyback wont hurt you, Lily." he said sliding his hands down her waist, then hips, to her legs. Lily smiled a little as she took a small step toward him. "So you don't mind that I'm part werewolf?" she asked, closing her eyes. Lang smiled and lowered his lips to her ear, whispering "I don't care what you are..I'm the nice twin, remember?" Lily shivered when he whispered to her. "I remember.." she said with a small smile.
