When Push Comes to Shove

O.K guys. This is my first time. Please be gentle.

Ron stood in the astronomy tower overlooking the grounds of Hogwarts. There was not a cloud in the sky. Not the slightest bit of wind. The sun was shining. The birds were singing and the giant squid was frolicking about in the lake below.

"You couldn't have picked a better day for it Ronnikins," he thought to himself as he fingered the small velvet box in the pocket of his quidditch robes.

His woman would be along shortly. She always spent her lunch breaks up in the tower. He had the house elves set up a picnic lunch of all his favourite foods. Ron knew that Hermione would jump at the chance to be his wife, his mother had told him so.

"Probably should've showered first," he thought as he sniffed his under arms. Hygiene was not on his list of priorities. He only had half an hour before he was due to meet his team mates at the pub. Hermione had better not hold him up.

He fingered the ring box again. He struck it lucky the day he found that piece of tin at the back of Knockturn Alley.

"It didn't polish up too bad." Sure the diamond (?) was practically non existent but it's the thought that counts, right? Lucky Molly had a spare box lying around for it.

"Where the bloody hell is she?" he said aloud.

He felt a slight breeze come up behind him.

"About time." He spun around to find no-one behind him. He was about to turn back to his view and his thoughts when a hand came out of nowhere and gave him a mighty shove.

All Severus Snape saw of Ronald Bilius Weasley as he removed his invisibility cloak was a pair of trainers, making the long journey to the hard ground below.

He had just enough time to stuff his cloak inside his robes as Hermione entered the room.

"Hello Professor Snape." Hermione blushed as she noticed the picnic blanket and hamper on the floor.

"Please call me Severus, Hermione. We are colleagues after all." He graced Hermione with a rare smile. "I hope you are hungry. I didn't know what you liked so I had the house elves send up an assortment."

"All this is for me? Why?" she asked.

"I've been watching you come here for months. You look so lonely that I thought you could use some intelligent conversation once in a while. That is if you don't mind."

"Um, no! Not at all."

"Can I offer you some wine, Hermione?"
