The Idea

Harry stalked Remus and Sirius into the gloomy living room and slammed the door behind him, rattling it in its hinges and causing the glowing embers in the fireplace to flame into life with a blinding spurt of uncontrolled magic.

The two adults sat down in an armchair each, facing the angered teen as he paced in front of them, the roaring flames, flickering higher behind the protective grate as he walked past it.

There was an unspoken agreement between Sirius and Remus to let Harry make the first move and speak first.

Whenever anyone had tried to get anything out of him before it had always been futile and he would always retreat into himself.

“Just why? Why does she do that? Why does everyone do that?”

He was angry and it pleased the other two that he was getting it off of his chest as he ranted instead of usually keeping it bottled up.

“I’ve never had parents before, why does everyone think that can, well, bloody parent me! I’m not a child!”

His anger was suddenly exhausted as he turned to the other two who watched him with a glint of sorrow in their otherwise emotionless eyes.

“Am I a child?” he asked weakly and lent against the same wall where his Godfather and honouree Godfather had been sitting against only a few hours before. "Am I playing games? Trying to be what I'm not?"

The quiver in his voice was all the boosting Sirius needed as he shot out of his seat and pulled his teary eyed godson into his arms, tightly hugging and swaying gently as Remus watched sadly from his seat.

The insecurity the youth had in himself was astounding, and it was all because of those damned Dursley’s, Remus’ eyes rimmed gold as his anger towards Harry’s ‘family’ rose phenomenally quick.

As soon as the anger appeared it disappeared as he calmed down for the sake of the youth who was trembling within his best friends grasp not 10 ft from him, the only sign of his pent up rage was the slight tremors running over his entire body.

“You not a child Harry,” Sirius sighed and kissed the top of his head, resting his own atop it as admitted the hardest thing in his entire life.

“I have to agree with Mal…Lucius, you never really were a child,” he looked back into the deep emerald eyes as Harry stared at him in awe. “ You never had the chance to be did you?”

“I thought you…” he trailed off as Sirius gave a bark of a laugh and ruffled his already messy hair.

“Harry I am quite capable of being civilized and down right nice to people at times,” Harry flushed and buried his red face in his godfathers shoulder.

Remus sniggered as he heard the comment and Sirius shot him a warning look, amusement and relief evident in his eyes and gestured for him to join in the hug.

“You don’t not want to see me then?” Harry mumbled as he felt Remus’ arms around him as well. “You don’t hate me?”

Sirius’ throat closed up again that day, how could Harry think that?

Remus turned Harry around and cupped his heart shaped face in his hands, making him look into his own amber eyes that were swimming with love for him.

“Harry no matter what you do, not matter where you want to go or what new things you want to try, we’re never, I repeat, NEVER, going to hate you, especially over something as stupid as who you are in love with, if others penalise you for it than they’re stupid, but me and Sirius are behind you every step of the way,” Remus wiped away a stray tear of his ‘godsons’ face and kissed his forehead lovingly.

“We trust your opinion, if your happy than we’re happy for you.”

“So you can both accept Lucius?” they both nodded and he snuggled down a bit in their embrace. “Thank you,” his voice thick with emotion.

For the rest of the afternoon, the three of them sat together on the sofa in front of the burning fire under a conjured blanket and talking about inconsequential things and debating the uses of ‘dark’ magic and ‘light’ magic, how Harry met Lucius and about the Order and what they had been doing over the last few weeks.

“But even if that was true Harry werewolves are still dangerous on full moon,” Remus sat listening to the pair as they talked about the good side of a werewolf, subject arisen by how Harry was eventually found.

“No because the Wolfsbane allows the person turned wolf to retain their memories and human frame of mind, imagine what they can do! They can find people who have been kidnapped, smell out enemies and could easily pin someone without hurting them instead of relying on magic which, depending on who spelled the spell, could be weak and lose its hold!”

“…You know he does have a point, after all I found Harry didn’t I and I was over 15 miles from him,” Remus snuggled down some more and thought carefully about what to say next.

“We could find out the Death Eaters homes on full moon,” Remus’ eyes suddenly sparkled with intelligent malice.

“WE could hunt them down,” Sirius turned to his friend and his eyes widened at his meaning, Harry also stared at him in shock and also awe.

“WE could hunt them down and they would be out of the way, we wouldn’t have to worry about them. We can go after the elites.”

He got up and paced in front of the fireplace, exactly like Harry earlier, apart from his excitement was clear and infectious.

“We don’t need everyone else, we shouldn’t have to it here and wait for them to make the first move, we can go after them ourselves, and we can make the first move. They would never suspect it, they would never suspect us.”

Like a light dawning in Harry’s eyes, a smile crept slowly and unsurely across his face, Sirius eyed his friend carefully.

“Assassins, you want us to kill the Death Eaters, the ones that have escaped justice and the law, Voldemort’s inner circle?” came Sirius surprisingly weak answer. “But wouldn’t that make us as bad as them?”

That stopped the werewolf in his tracks; he turned to his friends and ‘godson’.

“We need to do something Padfoot, we’re losing and they all know it, we could turn this war in our favour, we could win. This is war Sirius, we were never going to win the first one,” he gave a Harry a small nod.

“We’re not going to win this one, if we don’t play dirty.”

Harry watched the exchange with his mind whirling, could he do what Remus asked him to do?

Admittedly he had killed Voldemort once, a professor, a diary memory and helped to kill Cedric, but could he really kill in cold blood……

“I’m in,” he said bouncing slightly in his chair, both of the men turned to him astounded.

“What?”
