Disclaimer:
I do not own Harry Potter, nor any of the characters from the books or movies. I do not make any money from the writing of this story.
Christmas
Not my property, of course. That'd be JKR, who's god-like of course.
Beta'd by: Meagan Thanks so much!!!
A/N:I want to recommend Ice and Ivory's story The New Trio. They're listed in my favorite authors. Also, this is out sooner than I thought because Meagan got them back to me at the same time.
"Hermione!" Harry and Ron burst into the common room three days later. "Come upstairs, we need to talk to you." They'd begun just ignoring Blaise and Draco instead of trying to be civil to them.
"I'll be back in a minute guys," She left her books with Ginny, Dean, Draco, and Blaise. "What's the big deal, guys?" The trio sat together on Hermione's bed.
"There was a spy in the Order. He was giving Voldemort info on the Dursleys and from inside the Order. Dumbledore won't tell us who he was though," Harry 'informed' her.
"How'd they find out?" She already knew, obviously, but they didn't know that.
"An anonymous tip, apparently. Whoever owled Dumbledore, didn't sign it. We only know what happened because I was going up to see him and Remus and some other Order members were leaving," Harry explained.
"I wonder who it was though. I mean, whoever's giving this information has to have a reason. If it was Snape we'd know that," Ron sounded like he was thinking out loud so Hermione and Harry didn't respond, though Harry wondered the same thing.
"I want to know how much Voldemort knows by now," Hermione stated. She'd forgotten to ask Lucius that, she realized now. "Keep me updated on that though, yeah?"
"Sure," Harry agreed.
"Why were you going to see Dumbledore anyway?" She asked.
"Oh, well, he's been telling me about Tom Riddle, when he was at school here. See, we think that there's got to be a way to figure out how to beat him in his past. A lot of it is memories from other people, so it's less boring that way," Harry explained.
"Makes sense to me," The trio sat talking together for a few more minutes before Hermione went back to her books and the boys went back to their common room.
"What was that all about?" Dean asked.
Hermione told them about the spy. "They agreed to keep me updated," She finished.
"What about you two? I mean, I know we've intentionally avoided the subject, but I don't think we should anymore. Where exactly do the two of you stand?" Ginny asked the two Slytherins.
"With you," Blaise answered.
"You were right about me. I can't kill or torture in cold blood," Draco looked to Hermione.
"Hey guys!" Neville walked in. "Hermione, can you help me?"
"Sure. What do you need?" She turned to face her friend.
"Okay, I have a slight problem. You remember the guy that I like, right?"
"'Course I do."
"How do I get his attention?"
"Wait, you have a crush on a guy?" Blaise asked.
"Yes."
"Anyone we know?" Draco followed.
"Yes. But that's all I'm saying on that."
"Fine." Draco sighed.
"Send him gifts," Blaise said immeaditely. "Like a secret admirer thing."
"That's actually not a half bad idea," Hermione agreed.
"Of course it's not. It was my idea."
"And there's the arragance I was waiting for," Hermione said sarcastically. Blaise stuck his tongue out at her childishly. "Seriously though, Nev. It is a good idea," She said, rolling her eyes at Blaise.
"Just not something mushy, Nev. Not yet anyway. Make it something useful," Ginny amended.
"Thanks guys," He surried away to figure out what to buy his crush.
Ginny, Dean, and Hermione grinned at each other. "You guys know who he is, don't you?" Draco asked.
"Yes. But we won't tell, so don't ask," Dean stated quickly.
Time flew by for the new group of friends. Neville had begun sending his crush gifts every so often. As far as Hermione could tell, Draco and Blaise hadn't yet followed her advice. Blaise had moved into their dorm because of the other Slytherins. They weren't all that happy with Draco or Blaise because of their friendship with Hermione at that moment. Dean and Ginny 'broke up' because Dean wanted to be with Seamus and didn't really want to keep it a secret any longer. Most people had been waiting on that devolpment. Ginny finally told her brother and Harry that she was gay and they laid off Dean for breaking up with her. However, they freaked out over Ginny being gay. They were alright with it after Mrs. Weasley sent them a Howler though.
Harry and Ron would come to see Hermione occasionally, but would always ignore Draco and Blaise if they were there. Most of the time, Hermione went to see them. Lucius or Narcissa kept writing to her to tell her of attacks the Dark Lord was planning and Hermione would pass the information to Dumbledore. She'd explained to him that she couldn't tell him where her information was coming from but had begun signing her name at the bottom. Finally, it was Christmas.
Draco, Blaise, and Hermione had all decided they would open their gifts together in the common room on Christmas morning. After waking up, Hermione levatated her pile of gifts into the common room to see Draco and Blaise already down there.
"We had breakfast brought up already," Blaise informed her.
"Excellent," She smiled, grabing a cup of coffee. She sat beside Blaise and the three of them opened their gifts.
Aside from Mrs. Weasley's usual gift of a hand-knitted sweater, Ron and Ginny's candy treats, and Harry's gift of a new set of quills, ink, and personalized parchment, Hermione got something from Blaise and Draco, Charlie, and someone else. Blaise and Draco got her a muggle fiction series about a vampire family. The books were Twilight, New Moon, and Eclipse by Stephenie Meyer. Charlie got her a cute, black, negligee.
"Wait, who's that from?" Blaise saw it when she pulled it out of it's box.
"Charlie Weasley, Ginny's second oldest brother. He's in Romainia working with dragons," Hermione explained.
"Okay, why would he send you that?" Draco asked.
"It's a gift, boys. Just because his gift is one you wouldn't normally send to your little brother and sister's friend, doesn't make it less of one," Hermione grinned, knowing she'd not really answered the question. "And before you ask, no, we're not together," She could practicaly see the question forming in their minds.
With that, she turned to open her last gift. It was a teddy bear. Though it seemed odd to her, she knew noone who would send her a bear, she liked it. She'd once had a large collection of bears when she was little but her parents had talked her into getting rid of them once she was 'too old for bears'. She beamed at the stuffed animal. Inside the wrapping, was a small note.
I wrote your name in the sky,
but the wind blew it away.
I wrote your name in the sand,
but the waves washed it away.
I wrote your name in my heart,
and forever it will stay.
~Bold as Radiance
Hermione folded the note and put it into her pocket. She had to share it with Ginny later.
"Who's that one from?" Draco asked.
"I have no idea. A secret admirer it would appear," She answered.
A/N: Just so you know, this story really won't have much of the war in it, except Lucius' information. And that will only come up sometimes. So in light of this, the ending to the war will not be serious. It'll be rather amusing, actually. Also, I've decided that I'm cutting out the sequel and will just make this on longer than I had intended it to be. The prequel will still be put up though. The bit about Charlie's gift and why he would get her that, is covered more in the prequel. Also, the poem was written by Jessica Blade. It isn't mine. And finally, no, Hermione will not stay in the dark for long about who her admirer is. She's far too smart to not figure it out. But just because she knows doesn't mean anyone else will know she knows. :)
