Piece By Piece The Wall Comes Down

CHAPTER 6: Piece By Piece The Wall Comes Down

Remus had not slept well. His little walk had resulted in the need for a shower where he had taken his unruly member in hand and brought himself to a rather unsatisfying release. He dreaded climbing back into bed beside her, but hoped she was deeply enough asleep that the dreaming phase was over.

It had taken him awhile, but he had finally slid into a deep, healing sleep. At some point through the night, unnoticed by him, Hermione had shifted across the bed. When morning came, and he opened his eyes it was to find the little witch draped across his chest, he wild mane of curls covering his face. He was relieved when his senses revealed that her fertile phase had indeed passed, his three days of torment on that front were over. It did not prevent him from responding to her though.

It wasn’t only her cycle that drew him to her. At first it had been, he had noticed it shortly after she turned eighteen. And then slowly he had begun to notice other little things about her. He had always admired her keen intelligence and cleverness, but she was essentially a child and he had truthfully noticed little else. Then at the end of one summer she had arrived at headquarters a grown woman. And unfortunately for him, she looked every inch of it and he could no longer tell himself not to stare at her. He had found himself watching her, admiring her and much to his chagrin, desiring her.

It wasn’t just that her body had filled out in the most delightful way, but the way she moved, the way she spoke, the way she looked at him. All those things had changed, had matured. For the last four months he had been taunted and teased by her covert stares, the way she would brush up against him when they passed in the halls. Those seemingly innocent touches and hugs that lingered just a little past the point of being casual. She had set the groundwork, made certain he was aware of her, and that his body was VERY aware of her.

He couldn’t deny, or hide for that matter, his awareness of her at that moment, as it was now rudely tenting the sheet over his hips. Remus wouldn’t have been all that surprised to wake up and find her snuggled into his back, or into his side, it did get cool at night, even in the summer. But to have her completely sprawled across him was unexpected. He pushed her vanilla scented curls off of his face and looked down at the top of her head. Maybe it would be easier just to stop fighting it, and let it happen. But he would hate himself for it, and she would hate him too. He wasn’t a man worthy of any woman, much less Hermione.

He slowly slid from beneath her and eased his way from the bed. She opened her eyes and scooted up to lay her head on his pillow.

“Good morning, Remus.” She said softly. “Did you sleep well?” She was tickled to see him in a pair of gray pajamas. Leave it to Remus to sleep in old man PJs.

“Did you?” He asked. She smiled as she remembered the sweet dream she had dreamt of him.

“Oh yes, very well indeed.” The low, husky tone of her voice sliding along his spine like warm molasses. Remus stood there staring for just a moment before turning away and heading to the bathroom. Hermione watched him leave, laughing softly at his retreating back.

While Remus was busy shaving and the like, Hermione made the bed and slipped into the kitchen to make a light breakfast. She was leaning against the counter with a cup of tea when he exited the bedroom wearing slacks and a button down shirt. His wizard’s robes were going to look odd in a muggle town and she was glad he had not donned them. She liked the casually dressed Remus.

“Anyone ever tell you that you fuss over your toilet like a woman?” She asked, smiling at him.

“Sure, Sirius tells me all the time.” He said, eyeing the bacon and eggs appreciatively. Hermione reached behind her when she heard his toast pop up and set it on his plate. “Somehow I keep thinking that if I am presentable, maybe people will overlook the lycanthropy.” He said, taking a seat at the table. She put his plate in front of him, along with a dish of butter and a pot of jam.

“You wouldn’t worry so much about what people thought of you, if you knew how little they actually did.” She said, smiling.

“Now where did you pick up that little bit of wisdom?” He asked.

“Dr. Phil.” She put her cup into the sink and headed into the bathroom.

“Who the hell is Dr. Phil?” Remus mumbled as he ate his breakfast.

He put his dishes into the sink when he was done, and was on his way to the sitting area with his tea when he heard the bathroom door open. He made the mistake of looking over just in time to see her cross the hall wearing nothing but a fluffy red towel wrapped around her body, he sodden curls hanging down her back.

“Damn it.” He went to the loveseat and sat down. He rested his elbows on his knees and buried his face in his hands.

Hermione knew she couldn’t overdo it with her choice of clothing. If she wanted Remus, then she would have to entice him without it appearing deliberate. She stood in front of her closet and stared inside. Reaching in, she withdrew a cream colored sundress with a full skirt and delicate ribbon straps. The back dipped low and made it impossible to wear a bra. But then, that was a benefit of youth, things were still perky and in their place.

She took her time dressing, making certain that the slinky fabric hugged every curve just right. She pulled the unruly mess of curls on her head back into a ponytail that she tied off with a cream ribbon. Satisfied that she looked casually seductive, she snatched up a pair of low heeled strappy brown sandals and exited the bedroom.

Her soft vanilla perfume reached him even before he heard the door open. He was still sitting on the loveseat, staring at the wall and trying not to imagine her naked in the other room. He was failing miserably. He stood, as a gentleman should, when he heard her enter the room.

“So are we ready to go into town?” She asked, placing one hand on the wall as she bent down to pull on her shoes. Remus exhaled slowly at the sight of her. The soft, creamy colored fabric of her dress clung to her ripe young curves like a second skin. The loose, flowing skirt hit just above her knees, wrapping around her thighs with every movement.

“You look….lovely.” He complimented softly, his eyes drawn to the plump swells of her breasts beneath the clingy bodice.

“Oh, thank you Remus.” She smiled brightly and headed to the door. He couldn’t breathe! He gasped and could not force any more air into his lungs. The back of the dress…well there wasn’t one. He could see only soft, ivory skin from shoulder to hip, where only a small satin bow rested. She had a sweater draped over her arm, and he desperately wished she would put it on, but it was summer and he knew that it was unlikely unless they were in an air conditioned establishment. She looked back at him over her shoulder. “Coming?”

“Uh….yeah.” He shook it off and followed her out, locking the door behind him. He needed to make a point of staying at her side. If he had to walk behind her, staring at her bare back and the soft sway of her hips, he would have her beneath him before the day was through.

****So, the easiest way to get them closer is to send them into town, where everyone thinks they are newlyweds and their cover story requires them to act as such. Now I don’t know how much experience you may have with the Irish, mine is limited to family and friends, but I have never met a group of people more likely to embarrass you LOL. Bawdy jests, poems and songs are a given as well as frequent comments about things that in the US would raise an eyebrow or two…..course I don not want to pigeonhole an entire culture, so it could just be my wild relatives…..who frequently get tossed from pubs and the like, : )

ANGELBABY- I do have another LM/HG in mind soon LOL so stay tuned

NONABLOCH- I was in the middle of another SS/HG when Remus popped up and it wouldn’t leave me alone until I stopped what I was working on and wrote this story. I have no idea where it came from, and unfortunately I am unable to write more than one at a time LOL Remus had never before been a character that ‘called’ to me like the bad boys did lol…..nor had David Thewlis as an actor…..until I read an article on him and was pretty impressed. Im glad you are enjoying it, when it is done I will finish up the SS/HG.
