Common Room
A/N- Sorry for the long lapse in updates, but here is a chapter for you guys.

She found that every time she tried to transfigure a razor to use, it would turn into a marble then disappear. She had no idea why it was doing that. The need to cut was so great that she even tried magic to open just a single line into her skin, but it failed as well.
"Must have something to do with that damn Wizard's oath," Hermione grumbled to herself as she tried to focus on her DADA homework. Her nerves were so shot that she had broken four quills just working on a single question due mainly to her run in with the ferret faced git named Draco. The knowledge that tomorrow she would also be speaking to the Headmaster was also adding to her frayed nerves.
Hermione frowned down at her homework before rolling up the parchment. The assignment wasn't even due for another three days, so she could afford to quit for the evening. The Gryfinndor common room was unusually quiet for this time of night, but once again, Hermione didn't really mind the solitude. She looked across the room to where Ron and Harry were bent over a game of Wizard's chess, and felt a pang of regret that she hadn't really talked to them in awhile.
"I really haven't spent much time with them" she chided herself as she slowly approached the duo. Hermione chewed at her bottom lip before saying softly,"....Hi?", making it sound more like a question rather than a greeting. Harry looked up and flashed a smile for a millisecond before his eyes grew story. "He still blames himself," Hermione's heart ached at the thought, but before she could say anything, Ron had jumped up. He let out a whoop of joy before pulling Hermione into a bone-crushing hug. She couldn't help but flinch a little bit at the contact; something that Ron was blissfully unaware of as he pulled a chair over for her to sit in. Harry, however, noticed the flinch, and looked worriedly at her.
It was true that Hermione hadn;t been the same since her parents had been murdered, and Harry felt responsible, but he had no idea how to tell Hermione how sorry he was for her. Being an orphan was new to her, and she had loved her parents greatly. Harry sighed softly as Hermione sat down in the chair. This was the first time Hermione had voluntarily spoke to her friends, as she felt so guilty as she listened to Ron. Her eyes flicked over to Harry, who gave her a sad smile before pushing his glasses up the bridge of his nose.
"It's your turn, mate," Harry said softly to Ron, who paused long enough to use his bishop to capture one of Harry's rooks before he started babbling again. Hermione forced a smile on her face as she nodded, or gave a few one word answers to the torrent of words that were flowing out of Ron's mouth.
Harry studied the board for a second before he used a knight to put Ron's king into check. "Normally, he would have had me beaten by now," Harry thought to himself. "He's just so happy that Hermione is talking to us." "Check!" he said softly. Ron's eyes flicked over to the board, and moved his king out of check, but before he could start talking again, Hermione rose from the chair.
"I'm.....sorry that I haven't really talked to you guys," she began nervously, twisting her hands together nervously. "I'm....still trying to cope with everything...and I just wanted to tell you guys that..." She paused as her eyes filled with tears. "I.....love you guys, and I'm..so...sorry...I..." She broke down and began to sob quietly.
The chess game was immediately forgotten as Ron and Harry both stood up and hugged Hermione together. No other words were needed between the newly reforged Golden Trio. Ron and Harry just held her as she cried....but she couldn't tell them everything...not yet anyways. As much as she wanted to tell them, she couldn't. This was the first time that she had even cried in front of them, and that was enough...for now.
The fire in the Gryfinndor common room crackled merrily as the bond between the Golden Trio slowly began to knit back together...slowly but surely.....
