Chapter 6
As Hermione and Draco walked down the hall together toward her chambers Draco was trying to figure out exactly why Hermione wouldn’t talk to anyone but him, and only through their connection.
“Hey Princess, you do realize that now that we can’t be far from each other that now we have to share your chambers together” he said hoping to get her into conversation.
Hermione only looked at him and nodded her head once.
And so they continued in silence together, Draco knowing not to ask personal questions to the Princess of the Dragons, decided that in time she might start to talk again. Once they reached their chambers they both looked around, Hermione because she never actually got to look around other than when she first woke up, and Draco because when he first came to get Hermione before the meeting he was focused on her and never took the chance to look at his surroundings.
The room they walked into was beautiful, it was a living room/sitting room. The walls and carpet were a sparkling white color. On the wall right across from the door was a large floor-length three-pane bay picture window with gold window seats. The view was of a large maze type garden. One the same wall as the door, on either side, was wall length golden bookcases full of muggle and magical books ranging from all types of Genres. On the left wall to the door was a golden fireplace with a large golden Persian rug in front of it. Around the fireplace and rug was a large cushy overstuffed golden couch and two large overstuffed golden chairs.
Right above the fireplace was a painting of a young woman with waist length golden hair sitting under a willow tree next to a lake. She was wearing a full length red dress that fit her nicely. The sitting was night time and the moon was full. The woman was humming to herself while running her fingers across the lake surface. Every once in a while she would look up toward the woods off to the side, as if waiting for someone.
On either side of the fireplace were golden doors. On each door was a silver plaque with their names in written in elegant script. Hermione’s door was nearest the window, while Draco’s door was nearest the bookcases. On the wall across from the fireplace was another sparkling white all with only three golden doors on it. Each door had a silver plaque with elegant script on it. The door nearest the other bookcase was a potion lab. The middle door was a planning room. The door nearest the windows was a kitchen. After looking around the main room they decided to look into the others.
Draco’s Room
First they walked into Draco’s room. The walls were light silver. The carpet was a dark blue almost black. The bed was right across from them on a small platform with three steps leading up to it. The bed was a large king size four poster bed with navy blue drapes with silver crescent moons on it. The sheets and pillows were silk and were silver. The comforter was a royal blue. On either side of the bed were full length windows - one on each side. With silver drapes on them.
On the left wall was a large walk in closet. The closet was actually a small room with shelves on all the walls and racks for the clothes. All his things had already been moved there. On the right wall was a door leading to a bathroom.
The bathroom had two sinks in black marble with lighted mirrors above each one. All the walls were silver. On the wall across from the sink was three black doors with silver elegant scripted plaques. The door nearest Draco’s room read “Shower”. The middle door read “Toilet”. And the door furthest from Draco’s room read “Bath”.
On the wall across from Draco’s Room held a black door with a plaque reading “Hermione’s room“. Draco then noticed his door on the bathroom side was black with a plaque saying “Draco’s Room” and on the side of his bedroom the door was silver with a plaque reading “Bathroom”.
“Well I guess they make sure we have our privacy” Draco said lightly. Hermione said nothing but if you looked closely you could see the ghost of a smile before it was gone.
‘Well so far so good, maybe soon she’ll start to smile’ Draco thought hopefully. They continued through the bathroom to Hermione’s room.
Hermione’s room
They went to Hermione’s room. It was the same room that she woke up in. Right across the room was a walk in closet (like Draco’s but with all her things) on their left was the bed on a platform, and on their right was the door leading to the living room. Like every room so far each door had an elegant scripted plaque. They went through the living room and to the kitchen.
The Kitchen
As they entered the kitchen they noticed the room was bigger than it should have been.
‘Of course,’ thought Draco, ‘It is magic’.
The walls were lined with counters covered in all the appliances they could think of. In the middle of the room was a red cherry wooden table with four matching chairs. Inside the kitchen were also two house elves.
‘Oh no. What will Hermione say about that’ Draco, of course remembered that back in school Hermione was totally against House-elves. But as he looked at her he noticed that she didn’t look upset at all. She looked bored with the kitchen and elves.
‘Yes She’ll do just fine being a leader’
Once they left the kitchen they decided to go to the planning room.
Planning Room
As soon as they shut the door to the planning room the door disappeared. All the walls were covered in maps, surveillance monitors, pictures of the enemies, plans from both sides. In the middle of the room was a small table also covered in scrolls. It showed everyone from the order, death eaters, and her “dragons”. Hermione looked on in awe. Draco noticing, answered her silent questions.
“It’s where we plan the next moves for each side. The order thinks they make their own moves as does Voldemort; but really we plan for them. As Snape told you before: Both sides are just pawns to our side. We control the war, and who wins each time a small battle between the two sides occur. Now that you are hear, you and whoever you choose for your personal guard “Dragons” that would protect both of us incase someone tries to hurt you, giving me time to escape with you, can meet in here and play the “game” as we have come to call it.
Hermione nodded and turned around looking for a way out. Draco walked up to the wall where the door used to be and pressed a small button, making the door repapered open. They then made their way to the last room.
The Potions Lab
When they entered the potions lab they were both amazed. It was larger than any potion lab they had ever seen before. All down the middle of the room was one large table with many small burners on them with cauldrons on top. All along the walls were shelves with ingredients ranging from everyday common ingredients, to rare ones, to believed to be extinct. The shelves were from floor to ceiling, including the wall supporting the door.
On the very last wall across from them down the long room were two door, both of course with silver elegant scripted plaques. One was to a supply room; containing more cauldrons, vials, stirring rods, etc. The other room was full of potions books and had a table in the middle. This room was designed to research potions and create potions and antidotes.
“Well I know that technically these are your extra rooms, and I only have a bedroom in here, but maybe if you don’t mind I could hang out in here sometimes?” Draco asked her, nervous for some unknown reason.
Hermione just looked at him for a moment before touching her necklace, then touching his, then hers again. It took him a moment to realize that she wanted to tell him something.
“Sorry, I’m just so used to keeping my mind blocked that I forgot to allow it to allow you in.” He said sheepishly, realizing now why she hadn’t said anything through their link since leaving the meeting. After he opened his mind he heard her voice.
~That’s better. Of course you can use this room. If we must stay together at all times then why should these rooms only belong to me when you live here to? All these rooms will be shared together, except our bedrooms which will remain solely ours. Just please don’t bring anyone else here without asking.~
“Of course, I wouldn’t dream of doing such a thing. And thank you. You didn’t have to allow me full access to any room except my bedroom, and even then you could have made me sleep on the couch, and the bathroom. I’m only here to protect you. These are still your chambers.”
~ Nonsense! You live here, these are your chambers as well!~
With that she walked out of the Potions Lab signaling end of discussion.
By the time Draco made his way back into the living room, Hermione was already sitting in one of the overstuffed chairs and staring blankly into the fire. Draco tried to see what she was thinking, but found that their connection only worked that way when she allowed it to.
Draco sighed at seeing her revert to how she was when they found her with the Order. He walked over to one of the bookcases. He pulled out a book on muggle Psychology and stretched out on the couch to read. About an hour later there was a knock on the door. Draco looked over at Hermione to see that she had stiffened, but that was the only sign that she heard anything.
Draco put his book down after marking his page and went to answer the door. On the other side of the door was a cloaked, masked figure.
“What is it that you need” Draco asked emotionless
“I must speak with the princess.”
“Why”
“I have news from the order”
Draco nodded once and allowed the now identified man into the room. The masked figure looked toward his princess with sad eyes.
‘How could anyone do this to her?’ he thought.
“Princess, I have urgent news for you.”
Hermione turned her head and looked at the mystery man. She looked to Draco and then back to the guest and motioned for him to sit. He sat on the opposite chair and Draco resumed his position on the couch, minus the book.
“My Princess, I am a “member” of the Order Of The Phoenix and I overheard something that I thought you may like to hear personally instead of waiting for the next meeting. However, it is kind of personal and I’m not sure whether or not you want to hear it in front of an audience.” He said hesitantly, glancing over at Draco when he said audience.
Hermione just started at him patiently.
Draco getting the hint that the masked figure seemed not to, decided to explain.
“She doesn’t care if I hear or not, for I will find out anyway. Now quit wasting her time and talk already.” Draco said annoyed, but also sensing that he knew this person and trusted him.
Hermione glared at him for his attitude.
Ok, so maybe he didn’t translate her look exactly like she was thinking, but hey, just because he is being nice to her, and soul bounded with her, and having her be their leader didn’t mean he changed his attitude any, in fact he was the same old Draco- well not really- but you get the picture.
“Alright. Well the Order has revealed that they killed your parents and no the Deatheaters.” At this Hermione stiffened even further and started to look contemplative. At no other sign the figure continued,
“They also discovered that you are more powerful than Merlin himself, and well, they are planning to get you back, make you think that they are sorry for how they treated you, suck up, then elect one of them to rape you and take your virginity. I believe right now the vote is for Potter to do the job since he is the boy-who-lived., but they are still deciding since many-almost everyone-volunteered. Anyway, they plan to use your Virgin blood to win the war, since they know you wouldn’t use your powers to help them willingly.” After saying this he bowed his head for a moment. Then said quietly, “My Princess, I’m sorry about all this, if there is anything I can do please tell me and I would do so gladly.”
He stood up and prepare to leave, but as he turned for the door an arm grabbed him and made him stop and turn around.
Hermione had stood up and grabbed his arm, when he turned to face her she released him and motioned for him to take his seat again. Before allowing him to sit, however, she reached up and pulled his hood down revealing short curly dark hair. Then she pulled his mask away and stepped back.
Draco gasped and half said/ half shouted “Blaise!”
