basics

So. this chapter is definitely a lot less action, a lot more basics and plot. Sorry. but it has to be done. The next chapters will be full of action.
---------------------------------------------------

When Hermione had first come back to Hogwarts, finding that she would share her common room with none other than Draco, she hadn’t cared at all. Harry and Ron had been worried, but, after the summer she’d had she realized there were more real enemies to face than that pale haired boy. He was different too, his personality was much more sober, he didn’t even try to provoke her, after all he didn’t have a following anymore. His friends had abandoned him and he was alone, so she had watched him immerse himself in solitude, trying to fend for himself alone. She started talking to him, at first she was afraid, but he didn’t bite anymore. And slowly, ever so slowly, they came to terms with one another, it wasn’t a friendship, but it was an understanding.

But then, as soon as classes got into full swing, Hermione started bringing boys back night after night. And that’s when he became more distant. Above all, she wanted him, he was her conquest, everyone else was easily accessible, but he refused her every time. She tried and tried, and teased him beyond belief, tried to tug him in, to accept her offer, but he always relented. Then the dreams had started, the bad dreams she could never escape and he always came to wake her. Every night he was there, every night, and slowly her lust became more of an emotional attraction. The little chats they shared, their constant ends with one another, him finding her an emotional wreck at night, her watching him when he slept, in the end Hermione began to savor the moments she saw him. But it never prevented her from fucking anyone and everyone, it was her only escape.

Hermione swung her legs and landed gracefully on the side of the bed, the cold stone floor waking her.
“Draco” she called out, walking slowly towards the bathroom.

He stood there, in front of the mirror, washing his face, scrubbing with ardor, almost brutally. As he splashed the water onto his face, rubbing the soap off his face, he looked up, noticing her standing in the doorway.

“Hey” he said with a smile.

“Hey” she answered, gasping as she caught sight of herself in the mirror. The black tear stains formed two black lines running down her face. Her cheek was swollen from the punch, and her hair was matted behind her head, dried blood on her neck.

“I’m a mess, don’t look at me” she said, putting a hand over her face and walking towards the sink.

“It’s not like I haven’t seen you like that before” he retorted, a sly drawl to the way he pronounced his words.
“Looks like you didn’t get your beauty sleep” he smirked. She pushed him over, playfully.

“I had a…. rough night” she said with a smile, trying to forget last night, forgetting was the only thing she was good at. Forgetting was the only thing that let her live day by day.
“I’m taking a shower, so if you don’t mind, unless you care to join me?” she added with a wink, tossing off her lace underwear and black skirt, the shirt was still downstairs in the common room.

She stepped into the shower, letting the hot water hit her, much like it did every other night, but she never did it in the morning. Her eyes were closed, her mouth was slightly open, letting the hot water fall down the curve of her lips, entering and leaving. She reached for the soap, but instead her hand fell on that of another.

She opened her eyes and glanced over, seeing Draco.

“Let me clean it up”
Slowly he rubbed away the black tears, muttering a soft incantation to help the swell of her cheek go down. He continued rubbing the soap, down to her neck, being careful around the cut she had gotten the last night, scrubbing the dried blood off, making her skin clean.

Hermione watched him, she didn’t close her eyes, she never closed her eyes around Draco. His skin was pale, but as the sun hit his skin, it glowed. He was tall and lithe, just enough muscle, but not an overlarge amount. She wouldn’t even go into his member, smooth and long, longer than most she had been with, but so beautiful. The only way to have described him would be
“Delicious” she muttered under her breath.

She grabbed the shampoo and worked it into his hair, touching it’s silkiness, massaging it into his scalp. He did the same, taking the red out of her hair, returning it to it’s auburn state. Working his way through her curls, keeping his eyes on her face, never looking below.

The soap dropped on the shower floor, sticking to the tiles. Draco bent over to pick it up, and as he raised his body he noticed the cut, the long sinewy red lines that ran down her thigh. He looked back up, back into her sad eyes.

“How did you-”

“Shhh, Draco, not now, not now” she whispered, her eyes looking just above his head.
She made a motion to touch him, to run her hands down his chest, but he grabbed her wrists and pulled them back up.

She pouted, bit down on her bottom lip, on what would have been irresistible to anyone else, but not Draco. He turned and left the shower and the bathroom altogether. Leaving Hermione standing there with her thoughts going in circles.

As Draco dried off he thought back onto the day he had gotten his letter informing him that he would be Head Boy and the a certain Ms. Granger would be head girl. At the time, the idea wasn't truly thrilling, living with one third of the trio who had despised him, and he had despised with equal vigor. However, upon arriving back at Hogwarts, there were some things that could not go unnoticed.

Granger was different, there was something about the way she acted, she didn’t appear afraid and yet she too was solitary, she isolated herself far more often than before. He was attracted to her, but it was purely based on appearance, she was by far the prettiest girl in school now. But just as he was ready to advance on her, he realized she was a whore. Night after night, he started hating her, hated that she was so free and didn’t feel any attachments. But then the nightmares happened, at first he thought it was just a bad dream, but they kept coming back. And he always came to pull her out of them. Little by little, he started to feel closer to her, she was the only person who let him in. She tried endlessly to seduce him, to claim him as another prize she’d won over, and as much as he wanted it, he never let her. Because for once, he found himself genuinely caring about someone, he cared about what she was doing, he cared about her well being. And slowly, his passion for her developed into full outright like, and dare he say, a tinge of love? He didn’t understand it, where it came from, what it was, but he knew it was there. Somewhere between her failed attempts at seducing him and helping her get through the nights, it had grown.

“What’s that?” Hermione asked, motioning to the paper Draco was reading.

“It’s heads duty to collect names for those staying over Winter break"
“I’m guessing Potter and the red haired clan will be staying behind?” he asked, staring down at the paper.

“You mean the Weasleys? No, they won’t be staying, they’re all going to visit Charlie in Romania” she said, her mind elsewhere.

“So why aren’t you going with them, I thought you guys were inseparable?”

“They asked me, but I didn’t want to go. I didn’t want to go out into the world with them, I’d rather stay here, I feel safer here.” she said, her eyes drifting to the window.

“Safer Hermione, safer from what?”

“Nothing, nothing, I just, just don’t want to go out there, I’m not ready…….. I guess you’ll be going too” she added, her voice lighter.

“No, I have nowhere to go, I have no one to go to. I’m staying here.”

The door swung closed behind him,
“good. Good, that’s good” she said to no one at all.
