Chapter the Sixth: Preview
A/N: Don't worry, this is just a preview. More will be coming... eventually. My track record for updating has been spotty, but I'm going to try to change that. I want to get this thing finished. This will eventually turn into a longer chapter. Kepp checking back people!
Travel Plans 6/?
The section containing the books from the non-Mortal Realm was visibly not as large as the other. But that was made up for in the potency of the knowledge contained therein. Here lay the guides for the summoning of the Greater Powers, invocations of Divinity, sacred texts, and infernal doctrines. This was the place that held the most interest for Harry. Here was where he would learn Necromancy and the Daemonic Arts. Not even Voldemort had dared to tread those Dark waters without the guides and treatise contained in this Library.
Necromancy turned out to be surprisingly easier than he thought. It was a matter of having a connection to death, and power strong enough to animate a corpse. Not many had the power, concentration, or knowledge to pull a shade back from the Afterlife, but that too was chronicled in the Library.
Daemonic Arts where both simpler and more difficult. A demon had to be called by name, offered the proper sacrifice, and contained within the proper ritual circle. All of that was simple enough for a first year to do. The difficult part was in powering the containment circle. It drew exclusively on magic and will; the summoner's power having to almost literally beat the demon into submission. If one were able to summon and control a demon, it was a mark of very high standing among dark Arts practitioners.
Every so often, Harry would see the Director peeking into te Library. He was sure she was checking up on him, but he paid it no mind. Once he was satisfied with his knowledge of Necromancy and the Daemonic, he moved onto invocations of the Divine. Once that project was started, she stopped peeking in as often, but her frown was more severe. Harry thought she didn't approve of a mortal delving into such arts. Meh.
Once again, when he left the Library, not a single moment had passed from when he had entered. Jason and Juno would still be getting ready and packing. Another side trip into Knockturn Alley seemed called for, seemingly the best time to prepare to make use of his new knowledge. A tiny apothecary dealing in the Dark Arts made a significant profit with the amount of raw ingredients he bought, as well as containers and vials. A popular shop catering to the richer of the vampire elite supplied him with vials of blood of various species of creatures. And a pet shop sold him some future ritual sacrifices. Flourish and Blott's strangely enough had the inks and chalk he needed.
He rendezvoused with his companions for lunch and then told them of his plans. “We are going to go to different realms, staring with the Plane of Shadows.”
