The Half-Blood Prince and the Pure-Blood
Chapter 6
Draco, Hermione, Narcissa and Severus stayed for a week before they returned to Hermione’s parents home. The Order and Ministry were now full aware of the double attack and both already had plans.
“Cheyenne, could you bring me some tea with honey and lemon please?” Hermione asked as she made her way out to the gardens.
“Yes Lady Hermione.” Cheyenne replied.
Hermione made her way outside to the gardens and sat on the bench in front of the fountain. Narcissa was upstairs laying down and Draco and Severus were in the library studying on ways to weaken Voldemort. Cheyenne brought Hermione her tea then returned to the house. Hermione sat on the bench, drinking her tea and thinking.
‘I hope we can beat Voldemort. God, what is happening to me? I’m becoming a fucking weakling. These nightmares are getting worse and worse. What do I do?’ she thought sadly.
“Hermione, you all right?” Severus asked as he sat beside her.
“What’s happening to me Severus? Why am I suddenly starting to fall apart?” Hermione asked brokenly.
Hermione began crying. She dropped the tea cup which shattered on the ground. All Severus could do was take her into his arms and hold her.
“Oh Hermione. There’s nothing wrong with you. You’ve been so strong through all of this. It’s okay to break down from time to time.” Severus said gently.
“No! It’s not all right! I shouldn’t be breaking down like this! I’m suppose to be strong!” she cried.
“You can’t be strong all the time love.” he said soothingly.
“You are. How do you do it?” she asked.
“It took years. I learned to be strong because of my father. He used to beat me and my mother. These beatings started once he found out that my mother was a witch and I was a Wizard. All those years made me tough.” he answered.
Hermione continued to cry as Severus held her. After a few minutes she was sound asleep. Severus gathered her into his arms and carried her back into the house. Once she was safely tucked into bed, he returned to the fountain.
He sat on the bench. For the first time in thirty-five years he cried. He buried his face in his hands and let the tears fall. He felt helpless. He had no idea how to help Hermione through this. That was how Narcissa found her best friend.
“Sshh. It’s all right Severus.” Narcissa whispered as she gathered him into her arms.
Everyone ate lunch in different areas of the house. Draco and Narcissa ate in the dinning room while Severus and Hermione had lunch in their room. All lessons and training were canceled for the day.
“Hermione, you feeling better?” Severus asked.
“A little.” Hermione replied.
“Love, you have to stop being so hard on yourself. We now have the Order and the Ministry behind us. Things won’t be so difficult anymore.” Severus said gently.
Hermione only nodded. Severus kissed her forehead as she laid her head against his shoulder. Hermione felt so safe in his arms. In his arms nothing could hurt her. Nothing or no one could touch her. That night at dinner, they received a letter from Voldemort. He wanted all four of them at Riddle Manor in three days. It was time. The letter said the attacks would begin at noon on September 2nd. Hermione immediately wrote two letters. One to Minerva and the other to Rufus.
“This is it. In two months this will all be over. One way or another huh?” Draco asked.
“Yes. Just remember the training Severus and I have taught you. This will be over soon.” Hermione answered.
As everyone slept that night, Hermione lay awake in Severus’s arms. She was scared. Scared the light would fail. If that happened she swore to herself that Draco, Narcissa and Severus would be sent to the cottage. Herself too if she survived.
‘If anyone’s listening up there, please. Please watch over the light, Draco and Narcissa. And most importantly, Severus. He’s the most important person in my life. Let him come through this war alive. I couldn’t bear it if anything should happen to him. Grant us the strength to do what must be done to destroy Voldemort once and for all. Please.’ Hermione prayed, hoping her prayers would be answered.
Four days later found the four back at Riddle Manor. Draco would be with Hermione and Severus at the battle at Hogwarts. Voldemort was pleased at the training Draco had received under Hermione and Severus.
“My followers. In two months time we will make our move. The Order and Ministry will fall. We shall come out victorious!” Voldemort cried.
The Death Eaters clapped and cheered. Hermione smiled and clapped. Playing the role of Dark Princess well. Severus, Draco, and Narcissa played their roles perfectly as well. All four knowing that one wrong move would be disastrous.
“Tonight we shall feast, dance and drink. Celebrate my followers. Tomorrow we shall begin training for our victory.” Voldemort said.
Everyone adjourned to the ballroom. The feast was grand. Hermione and Severus sat at the Head table with Voldemort. As the feast continued, Voldemort and Hermione talked.
“So my dear, have you and Severus talked of the future?” Voldemort asked.
“No Tom. We’ve been focusing on the war. Perhaps when this war is over, we can look to the future.” Hermione answered as she sipped her wine.
“I only want your happiness my child. You are the closest thing I have ever had to a daughter.” Voldemort said gently.
Hermione simply nodded and smiled. After the feast, the dance began. Hermione danced with Severus, Amycus and even Peter Pettigrew. After her dance with Peter, Voldemort approached her.
“May I have this dance Lady Hermione?” he asked.
Hermione nodded. The two stepped onto the dance floor as a waltz began to play. Voldemort and Hermione moved gracefully across the floor.
“What is bothering you my dear?” he asked.
“It is nothing Tom. I’ve just been having some trouble sleeping lately. Do not worry.” she answered.
“But I do worry. Have you spoken to Severus?” he replied.
“Yes. The Dreamless potion doesn’t seem to work on me. Severus says he can have a stronger one brewed in a few days. Once he gets the ingredients. They are on their way now.” she explained.
“Good. I would hate for you to be un-rested. I do not want anything to happen to you. Perhaps you and Severus should turn in for the night. You will need your rest for tomorrow.” Voldemort said as he led her back to Severus.
Severus and Hermione said good night to Voldemort, Draco and Narcissa, then headed for Hermione’s private wing. Once in the bedroom, Hermione changed out of her robes and into her night shirt. Severus joined her a moments later.
“You all right?” Severus asked.
“No. We’re cut off from the Order and the Ministry. If Tom changes the plans, we have no way to warn them.” Hermione answered sadly.
“Do not worry. Voldemort will not change his plans. For now, just rest love.” he said.
Hermione moved into his loving arms. Once more she buried her face in his chest and wept. Severus held her. He hated that there wasn’t more he could do to ease her fears. As the night wore on Hermione finally gave in to sleep. Severus prayed she would not be haunted by her nightmares that night.
The next day the training began. Hermione and Severus had prepared Draco as best as they could. Draco was ready. Voldemort was pleased at his progress. All day the Death Eaters trained. At the same moment the Ministry and the Order were training as well. Both sides preparing for war.
And so it continued. For the next two months both sides trained harder than ever. Somehow, Hermione had received a letter from Harry two weeks before the battle. Along with a package. Hermione and Severus sat by the fireplace in their rooms and read the letter.
Dear Hermione and Severus,
I hope you two are well and safe. We’ve been training long and hard. We’re ready. How’s Malfoy and his mum? Remus and Tonks said to tell them hi.
How are you holding up Mione? Just remember, everything will be over soon. In two weeks, this will all be over. McGonagall found an ancient spell that will help defeat Voldemort.
Hermione, Severus. If something happens to me, I’m leaving you two everything I own. Remus said he didn’t want Twelve Grimmwauld Place. Too many memories of him and Sirius.
Please don’t argue. The paper work is already and you should receive your copies within the next few days. Onto the package. Inside are three amulets. These will protect you. The spell will destroy not only Voldemort, but anyone who wears the Dark Mark.
We miss you. Stay safe and soon this will all be over. Take care.
Love,
Harry
Hermione and Severus removed their amulets. They placed them around their necks. They were meeting with Draco that evening after dinner.
“I hope all goes well. I can’t believe Harry has done that.” Hermione said.
“As do I love. I think Mr. Potter just wants to be sure you’re taken care of.” Severus replied.
Hermione sighed and snuggled deeper into his arms. Dinner that night was surprisingly quiet. Everyone was exhausted from all the training. After dinner, Draco went with Hermione and Severus to their rooms.
“Here. Harry sent it. It’s suppose to protect you.” Hermione said as she handed Draco his amulet.
Draco put it on and read the letter. After he read it, he sighed and faced Hermione and Severus.
“So this is it then?” Draco asked.
“Yes. I guess so.” Severus answered.
“I’m scared.” Draco said.
“I know Draco. So am I. All we can do is follow our plan. This will all be over with soon. “One way or another.” Hermione said as she hugged Draco.
Draco stayed a little longer then headed on to bed. Hermione and Severus event to the bedroom, stripped down and climbed into bed.
“Make love to me Severus.” Hermione whispered.
“Gladly.” Severus said.
The two slowly and passionately began making love. Both completely forgetting everything that was going on in their lives. Everything but the love and passion that surged through them both.
