chapter 6

The next day went fairly quickly, Remus letting Harry in on his study plans.
They would be covering:
Defensive and Offensive Curses
Charms
Transfiguration
Animagus Training
Wandless Magic
Tai Chi

\"We will do all of them every day, you understand. I\'m not going to go easy on you just because you\'re so adorable,\" the last part said while ruffling Harry\'s hair, \"I\'m going to push you to your limits.\" Harry swatted the older man\'s hand away and smiled at him.

\"I expect you to push me. I\'ve spent too long catering to everyone else\'s whims and expectations…it\'s time I found out exactly what I\'m made of instead of relying on luck all the time.\"

After that they basically went about studying and planning some more detailed lists for each subject.

After dinner a small barn owl came swooping in from the kitchen window to Remus\' shoulder. Taking the note proffered, Remus petted the owl and let it go on its way.

\"Well, it seems our esteemed Potions Master will be gracing us with his presence tomorrow morning at 9am sharp. He\'ll bring me my potion and I\'ll go up to the school for the full moon, and he will stay here for three days.\"

Harry tensed up a little at this news, but knew he had to do this in order to shut Voldemort out of his mind. \"Very well, then. I guess my letter worked. I\'m feeling a little tired, Moony. I\'m going to bed. Good night, and have a good moon.\" Stretching, he rose from his chair, gave Remus a hug, and went upstairs to bed. Remus fell asleep not toO longer after.

*

He was early. It was only 6am, but Severus Snape decided now was as good a time as any. He was surprised when the door opened for him, seeing as he hadn\'t knocked yet.

\"I thought you might be early, but I didn\'t want you to wake Harry just yet,\" came the werewolf\'s explanation. He gestured for the dark haired man to enter. \"Tea, Severus?\"

\"Thank you, yes.\" Snape followed him into the kitchen and sat down. He offered Remus his potion to be taken before he left. The tea was acting like a buffer between the two enemies. Neither one the type to engage In inane small talk, Remus jumped right in to the serious topics.

\"Severus, I know you have some very definite ideas of what the boy is like and how he grew up. I can\'t explain it to you, because it\'s not my place. I just want you to keep an open mind. If you have any questions, I\'ll answer them when I get back, but feel free to ask Harry as well.\" Clearing up his teacup, Remus headed for the door. \"Let him have at least another hour of sleep, and then you can terrorize him.\" Downing his potion, Moony walked out the door and apparated to the castle.

Snape took his time taking in his surroundings now. It was an average home for a Muggle, very clean. What was odd were the family photos everywhere that didn\'t include his annoying pupil whatsoever. How was it that two out of the three relatives were so hideously obese, and Potter was skin and bones? Wandering into the living room, he saw the books and papers everywhere. On the coffee table, a small parchment caught his eye. It was some kind of list.

What the Wizarding World should know about the real Harry Potter.
1. He grew up a prisoner in his own home.
2. His family hates him.
3. He, in fact, has been abused by said family since he was a baby.
4. He hates being the center of attention. Being a celebrity means no privacy.
5. He isn\'t stupid. He holds back because people expect him to.
6. He isn\'t oblivious. He knows what people say about him and what is going on around him.
7. He has no inclinations towards dating Hermione or Ginny.
8. He is, however, gay.

By the time he was done reading the list, Snape\'s eyebrows had reached his hairline. This would definitely be something he would need to ask about.

Walking up the stairs, he wondered how he would recognize Potter\'s room. It was then he spied the door with all the locks on the outside of the door. Opening the door, he saw Harry sleeping, his face relaxed and peaceful. It wasn\'t often that expression crossed the young man\'s face, but that didn\'t stop Snape from waking him up and ruining it.

\"Potter! Wake up this instant!\" snapped the professor. Harry\'s eyes snapped open and he sat up quickly, wand in hand. \"Put that away, get dressed, and come downstairs. We start your training as soon as you\'ve eaten.\" With that, Snape turned on his heel and marched downstairs. Harry blinked a few times, registering the last few minutes, and then figured it was in his best interest to follow directions.

When he got downstairs, Snape was sipping his tea, flipping through one of the books Harry had bought on Wandless Magic.

\"You will be studying this, I take it?\" Snape asked, never once looking up from the book.

\"Yes, that and a few other things. I want to be prepared for anything when I meet with him. If he takes away my wand, he might not give it back like he did before,\" Harry calmly replied while eating his oatmeal.

Snape muttered something that sounded like \"good\" but Harry wasn\'t sure. He could already tell this was going to be a long three days.

\"Let\'s get started. I suggest we move into the living room for this.\" Not waiting for a reply, the man walked out of the kitchen, expecting Harry to follow.

“Just as he had the previous school year, snape pointed his wand at harry and cried “expelliarmus!” And just as he had before Snape bored into his head like a drill over and over again, only stopping to let Harry eat and remind him how useless the exercise was, \"seeing as you can\'t keep me out at all.\" By the time he went to bed, the teen was thoroughly exhausted and had an intense headache.

*

Finishing his breakfast the next morning, Harry walked into the living room to start the day. First though, some things needed to be talked about.

Snape had his wand ready to say the spell and start the torture, when Harry actually spoke.
\"Stop, we need to talk. Put that away.\"

The wand was lowered and the sneering man sat down and looked at the raven-haired boy expectantly. \"And what great knowledge will you bestow upon me today?\" Snape drawled out.

\"What were you looking for yesterday?\" Harry had thought long and hard this morning about yesterday\'s training. Something had felt off, like Snape had an actual purpose other than humiliating him.

Snape snapped his head up, keeping his mask on so that his surprise was kept hidden. When did the boy become so observant?

\"Don\'t just sit there, answer me! If you expect me to respect you, well, then, you owe me the same as well. If you have questions, ask them. Don\'t go rummaging through my mind for things that are none of your business.\" Harry was gripping the chair tightly in his anger, but was hoping it didn\'t show.

It took Snape a few moments before gathering himself together. \"And would you really answer any questions I asked? Hmmm? Me, the “Greasy Git” and the “Vampire Extraordinaire?” Snape sneered when Harry’s eyes widened. “Yes, I know what you all call me. So tell me, At what point should I expect honesty from you, The “Golden Boy” who gets away with everything and exploits his fame to get what he wants? Answer me that, Mr. Potter,\" the man bit back.

\"That is all bullshit and you know it. Why can\'t you get it into your head that I am not my father!\" Harry was yelling now, not bothering to hide his annoyance at the gall his professor had to still assume such things about him. \"He was an arrogant, spoiled bully, yes I know. But I didn\'t grow up like him. I grew up here. Look around, dammit. Do you see any pictures of me? No. Do you see any hint of my existence here? No. Because that\'s what my relatives want. Me not to exist. There, maybe you should go talk to them, you seem to have a lot in common, what with your hate for me and all.\" Harry was breathing hard now, on his feet and heading out of the room. \"If you had no intention of helping me then you shouldn\'t have come. Go back to your dungeon and make someone else miserable. I\'m going upstairs to study. Goodbye professor.\" And with that he disappeared up the stairs and closed his bedroom door. He didn\'t come back out at all that evening.

Bemused, Snape left Privet Drive for his dungeon quarters to try and wrap his head around this new Harry Potter that was so completely different than the Harry Potter he knew from Hogwarts.

AN: I am so sorry it took so long. My brain is not cooperating and is jumping ahead to chapters that are not going to exist for at least a week. Grrr. I am working on getting the ones for now out though. There should be a birthday one, and two or three for the summer, then school will start. Thanks for your patience. I\'ll comment on reviews next time.
And thanks to Scully, my awesome beta!
