The Orb of Fate by SnapesAngel
Disclaimer: As everyone should know I do not own any of these characters, they belong to J.K Rowling. (Unless I see fit to add some from my imagination, but honestly, if Rowling would want to use them I wouldn’t be complaining) Please don’t sue me considering I don’t have anything worth having.
eve/roarke: No, poor Ginny doesn’t know anything. But Harry didn’t know that and he was frustrated and… well you saw what happened. Dumbledore has things to take care of which is why he can’t see Harry right away. There is a logical explanation to why this Orb has more power than Dumbledore and Voldemort together. (ooops did I say that *smile*) You will understand in later chapters.
Kat: Thank you. I love writing it with suspense too. But its’ easy to do so considering it’s from Harry’s point of view and he is just as confused as you are. Not me though, I have all the answers *lol*. And Thank You for noticing! I also believe Petunia has more feelings for Harry then she is letting on. I did consider her giving Harry a hug but that didn’t work. To sappy for the story and for her I think.
Katie K: *smiles* Thank you. I do like writing the story so it’s nice to know that you enjoy reading it.
Anon: I’m really sorry that I don’t know who you are but thank you for the review. And hope you think the following chapters also are interesting.
Eci_Frog: Yes it is a great way to start the weekend and I do hope its forever until Monday *lol*.
Thank all of you for the reviews. I love them and they make me write faster or I should say they give me inspiration to write faster. I thought I would explain something to you now. I was going to have Harry finding out about everything in the previous chapter but then I wrote Ginny into it, which I think work fabulously, it was suddenly longer then I expected so I posted it. I know what you’re thinking “So write longer chapters!” I could but I like writing shorter chapters and then being able to update more often. If I write long chapters I would probably only be able to update once a month because I get quite bored with it and my inspiration fade away. I hope you agree this is better. I also knew about my busy week and if I didn’t update when I did you would have to wait much longer. So I thought it would come in this chapter. Alas it doesn’t. Don’t start hating me now but this is a real cliffie if I have ever seen one. Harry will find out in the next one! I promise! Enjoy!
Chapter description: Harry loses his temper and they don’t seem too listed to him.
~ * ~
The next day Harry woke up a couple of hours earlier than everyone else. Instead of going back to sleep he sat, pondering, by a huge fireplace in his favourite room of the house, Sirius\' old bedroom. Nothing in the room any longer reminded one of a bedroom, but the feeling of his godfather\'s presence was stronger there than in any other part of the house. Harry had a lot to ponder about too. So many things had happened and he didn’t have any answers.
It wasn’t until eight or so in the morning, Harry didn’t know how long he had been sitting there, that Mrs Weasley peeked into the room.
“Harry, there you are.” she said looking relieved. “I was starting to wonder if you had left.”
“Why would I do that?” Harry asked as he walked down the stairs.
Mrs Weasley shrugged her shoulders and determinately avoided him with her eyes.
Ginny didn’t greet him at the breakfast table and he couldn’t blame her. He felt quite bad about last night and wished he could explain, but if she truly did not know about the prank Harry didn’t want to inform her either. She would probably laugh and that would just make him angry again and it was unfair to be angry at Ginny.
After a breakfast of which Harry couldn’t manage to eat anything, Dumbledore finally arrived. It was Lupin who fetched him from the kitchen and almost pushed Harry into the room where The Order usually had their meetings.
“Harry.” Dumbledore greeted him with a slight smile. He didn’t offer him any treats like he usually did, and Harry was thankful for it. He couldn’t stand the pleasantries. He wanted to know what was really going on and he wanted to know it NOW!
“What is it? What’s going on?” Harry asked impatiently “Is it Voldemort?”
“No, it’s not Voldemort.” Dumbledore said. “Do you have the letter with you?”
‘What did that matter?’ Harry thought angrily. ‘Why was everyone on about a simple letter stating that he should pack his things and wait?’ “I didn’t bring the letter from you, no.” He simply stated.
Dumbledore watched him thoughtfully. “I’m not referring to the one I sent you. Do you have the letter from The Keeper of the Orb with you?”
Harry sat dumbfounded for a couple of seconds. “Is that what this is all about? The Twins prank? Honestly, you had me believing it was something important!” He stood up in an attempt to leave the room but Lupin was in his way.
“Harry, the Twins didn’t send you that letter.” Lupin said while trying to make Harry sit down again.
“No. We believe it to be authentic, but we need to confirm that. In order to do so we need you to bring the letter here.” Dumbledore said.
Harry was more then confused.
“Please fetch the letter.”
Harry did as he was told even if he didn\'t understand the meaning of all this. What did they mean \'authentic\'? “Bill sent it.” He added as he handed the letter over to Dumbledore.
“Of course he did not. Bill is in Egypt again working for Gringotts.” Lupin explained.
Harry completely lost his temper. “I don’t care if he’s on the fucking moon. He.wrote.that.letter! Either you believe me or you don’t, I don’t really give a crap! But if you won\'t tell me what’s going on NOW I will do something drastic!” He didn’t have any idea about what he was going to do but it still felt good saying it. Lupin and Dumbledore exchanged worried glances. The Headmaster was the first to speak.
“I understand how you feel.” At this Harry simply snorted but Dumbledore continued. “I will explain everything if the letter is authentic. It does look like it is but we can’t be sure. To check it\'s validity you have to take out your wand and point it at the letter saying, ‘The Orb is truthful’. Then we will see if it is correct or not.”
“But I can’t use magic outside of school. I’ll be in front of the Wizengamot again before I can even blink”
“No, Harry, you are allowed to use this type of magic for this special occasion. The Ministry of Magic will understand.” Lupin said in an attempt to calm Harry. Harry did trust Lupin and Dumbledore so he pulled out his wand and pointed it at the parchment even if it felt ridiculous doing it.
“The Orb is Truthful.” He said and a white light travelled from the tip of his wand to the parchment, covering it with a bright light. It took five seconds for the light to disappear and instead of the ancient looking scribbles at the end it said in glowing red letters: ‘The Orb has spoken. Its will shall be done’.
Dumbledore sat down quietly in his chair, removed his glasses and sighed heavily.
“Is it…?” Lupin started.
“I’m afraid so, Remus. I’m afraid so.”
