Horrid Detention

Chapter 6: Horrid Detention.

It was after dinner and time for Sarah to go to her detention. She had changed out of her uniform that was covered in purple goo and into a new clean set uniforms and washed her hands and face. Sarah looked around her room for her scarf. She couldn’t remember where she had put it. It was getting really cold and she wanted her scarf to keep her warm. She looked up at the top of her bed and saw her green and silver scarf hanging from the top of the post. She stood on her bed and pulled down the scarf. She accidentally slipped and hit her head on the post.
“Ouch.” Sarah rubbed her forehead. “I’ve got to stop being so clumsy.” She looked at the post and saw that there was a snake’s head burnt into the wood. It looked exactly the same and the marks on her body and book. “What the hell is all of this snake crap?” Sarah asked herself. She wanted to get to the bottom of all of this snake’s head business but first she had to get to her detention with Draco.
Sarah left her room and walked out of the common room. She walked through the hallways on her own. It was really dark inside and the only light source was the little pillars of fire lining the wall’s with a 5 meter distance in-between. She walked into the green house and looked around. There wasn’t anyone there yet. So she sat down and waited for Sprout and Draco to come. Sarah began to get hot in the dense air of the green house. She pulled off her scarf.
Sarah looked around at all of the tables. They had millions of grooves in them and purple good stuck in the grooves. She sighed at the thought of how long it would take to clean all of the tables. She was lost in her own thoughts when she heard something behind her.
“Ahem.” Someone cleared their throat. Sarah spun around and looked at the dark corner of the room.
“Bloody hell Malfoy.” Sarah breathed heavily. Draco leaned against the wall in the dark corner of the room. “Where’s the professor?” Sarah asked.
“I don’t know but she left us a note.” Draco held up a folded piece of parchment.
“What does it say?”
“It says that we have to clean the whole green house perfectly and if it’s not done well we have to clean it again, we can’t use magic.” Draco read in disgust. “Oh and she wont be supervising us tonight.”
“Right.” Sarah nodded. ‘Probably thinks he’s to good to clean.’ Sarah thought about Draco. Draco seemed to read her mind and walked past her hitting her shoulder. She saw that his blond hair line was a coloured a light shade of purple. Sarah burst out laughing. “I see you couldn’t get the goo out.”
“No I couldn’t.” Draco snarled. “Come on I’m not going to clean this up on my own.” Draco mumbled.
“I’m surprised that you would even think about cleaning. You wouldn’t want to get your clothes dirty.”
“Shut up” Draco snapped. Sarah laughed silently. She stood up from the stool and walked around to find something to start working on. The green house was a very romantic place if you thought about it. Sarah and Draco didn’t notice how beautiful it was. Vines from strange plants crawled up the walls and the ceiling. Beautifully odd flowers bloomed everywhere making the green house look very colourful.
The ground was littered with leaves and petals. Sarah picked up a broom and began sweeping the leaves and petals to one corner of the room. She cleaned the floor until the ground was clear and you could see the crooked floor boards. Once everything was in a corner Sarah picked up the leaves and petals and threw them into the rubbish bin.
To Sarah’s surprise Draco started to help her clean up the leaves and petals. They kept cleaning the whole green house until it was sparkling cleanaco aco making a few rude comments on though out. Sarah kept herself amused by laughing at Draco’s bad temper.
It was pitch black outside once they had finished. Sarah rested against the table and sighed in relief. Draco walked away somewhere. She looked around the near room. It was massive when it was clean. She wiped the sweat from her forehead and closed her eyes for a while.
Suddenly there was a loud crash and every source of light disappeared. Sarah opened her eyes and looked around frantically.
“Draco?” Sarah called. He didn’t reply. “MALFOY!” Sarah shouted. “This isn’t funny.” Still no reply. Sarah was becoming scared now. She tried looking around to see if she could see anything at all. It was still pitch black and the only light that she could see was coming from the moon and that was extremely dull. She walked around the room using the tables as a guide. “DRACO!” Sarah shouted again. This time she heard a voice behind her. She span around but couldn’t see anyone there. She felt a hand on her back. She was about to scream when the hand covered her mouth.
Sarah struggled and turned around to look at who grabbed her. Draco was standing there with his finger to his mouth indicating that they should be quiet. He pointed over to a corner of the green house. Sarah was about to scream at him for scaring the life out of heraco aco urged her to look over to the corner.
Sarah searched the corner but she saw nothing but black. They heard a loud crash of breaking glass. The glass from the ceiling came down and shattered on the ground. Light flooded into the green house and a huge force of wind gushed through the room. Sarah screamed and jumped. After about a minute of silence Draco walked over to the hole in the ceiling.
“What the hell was that?” Draco asked staring out of the in tin the ceiling.
“Why are you asking me?! Why did you scare me like that for?! I nearly had a heart attack!” Sarah ranted. She was still scared as she walked towards Draco.
“Sorry, but you just had to shut up.” Draco replied dully.
“Yeah thanks but I was scared.” Sarah softly brushed Draco’s arm as she walked past him. Draco looked down at her and saw how scared she looked. She was fiddling with her fingers and biting her lip. Her eyes searched his face for a small shred of security.
Sarah noticed that the moon light accentuated Draco’s strong features. His eyes were gleaming with something that she had never seen before. She had the sudden urge to do something to him and she knew that it would turn out bad.
Sarah leaned forward and kissed Draco’s lips. Draco started kissing back. They kissed for a few seconds until Draco realized what he was actually doing. He was kissing a muggle born.
“What the hell do you think you’re doing Mudblood?” Draco pushed her away from him. Sarah felt a painful stab in her heart and stomach.
“What was I doing? You kissed me back Draco Malfoy!” Sarah snarled. Draco looked up at her. She had never called him by his whole name so she must have been really angry. “How dare you call me a Mudblood? I may be muggle born but I’m 20 times better then you.” Sarah walked out of the green house feeling angry and hurt. “Go and hang out with your stupid sluty girlfriend Pansy.” Sarah felt as though she was going to cry but didn’t. She couldn’t believe what Draco had said. She had never been called that before. Being a muggle born was never a problem for her. She wished that she was back at Durmstrang. She slowly walked though the hallways. She heard footsteps coming up behind her. She turned around and saw Draco.
“I ah thought that we should tell Dumbledore about what happened…I…I mean what we saw, so we don’t have to clean it up again.” Draco said as he looked down at the ground. Sarah scoffed.
“Fine Malfoy we’ll go so you don’t have to clean up again.” Sarah said with a sarcastic tone as she rolled her eyes. She walked down to the dungeons to find Snape’s office and ask for directions to Dumbledore’s office.
Draco walked behind her. He did feel guilty for what he had said and that was a first, but he couldn’t get into it with her. His father would kill him. He liked the kiss for as long as it lasted for. He liked her.
Sarah walked down the long dark passages looking around so she doesn’t get caught by a prefect. But Draco was a prefect so they would probably be able to get out of it. Sarah stopped walking at the front of Snape’s office. She knocked on the door twice.
“Who is it?” Snape’s voice droned.
“Its… ah… Sarah Harrison and Draco Malfoy sir.” Sarah replied. The door swung open and there was Snape standing there glaring at both of them.
“What are you two doing out at this time? Mr. Malfoy you should know better, you are a prefect.” Snape snapped. Draco didn’t know what to do but frown.
“Ah, professor we just had a detention. We came here to ask you to escort us to Dumbledore’s office. Something had happened in green house four.” Sarah informed. Snape looked down at her.
“Very well.” Snape looked curious as to what happened but didn’t ask anything. He stepped out of his office and closed the door behind him and began to lead Draco and Sarah to Dumbledore’s office. Sarah was so glad that he didn’t ask any questions.
