Care of Magical Creatures

“I swear to God, if that bloody Pansy Parkinson ever threatens me again…”

Lavender and Pavarti merely sighed as they continued to get dressed.

Ginny was once again on a rampage and it didn’t seem like she would be stopping anytime soon. And since there was no way to stop her, all they could do was let her vent until she wore herself out.

“You know, maybe you should calm down before going to Care of Magical Creatures. You never know what Hagrid has in store for us.” Lavender murmured quietly.

Ginny sent her a small glare, but let out a labored breath.

“I suppose you’re right. Don’t want to be decapitated during the beginning of term.” She muttered. Gatherin her Monster book of Monsters, the red-head stomped to the door. Keeping a few steps behind her, Lavender an dPavarti followed.

“Welcome sixth-years to Care of Magical Creatures! Considerin’ this is yer first class, I’m gonna go easy on you guys.” Hagrid introduced, leading them deeper into the forest. “Now, I want you to meet Roan, Spart, Quix and Crant—the winged horses of Beauxbatons. Madame Maxime has graciously let me borrown them for a few days for my class. Now, get into groups of 6. Three Slytherins and three Gryffindors per goup.”

Ginny, Pavarti and Lavender immediately joined a group of slightly friendly-looking Slytherins. Yet as soon as she approached, a sneer was heard.

“Red. Fancy meeting you here.”

Instantly, Ginny whirled around to meet the icy eyes of Draco Malfoy.

“What the hell are you doing here, Ferret?”

He let out a theatrical sigh.

“Dumbledore believed it would be good for my character if I volunteered my spare time to this bumbling oaf. So now I’m an assistant.” He growled under his breath.

“Oh, cry me a damn river, Malfoy. Did you break a nail?” she scowled.

His ice eyes narrowed, but before he could say a word, he was called away.

Ginny just watched him leave, but was then surprised at the sight of Neville Longbottom.

“Hello Ginny!” he greeted excitedly.

“Neville, why are you here too?” she asked.

The seventh-year flushed lightly.

“These horses are the only things in this class I wasn’t afraid of, so Hagrid let me hang around after our class to help out you guys.” He explained easily, but then rushed away to help Hagrid.

Ginny just smirked at the sight of Malfoy’s grimacing face.

The class passed quickly and soon, Ginny found herself walking back towards the castle. But before she got even close, a horrified scream caught her attention.
Twirling around, she instantly saw one of the winged horses take off from the ground…with a body on its’ back. And judging by the screams, it was Neville Longbottom. Almost instantly, she caught sight of Draco Malfoy, double over on the ground and laughing.

Feeling her anger boil wither, er, she forced herself to hold off yelling at him until she got Neville back on the ground. Whipping out her wand, she pointed it to the castle.

Accio Harry Potter’s broom!” she yelled. Almost immediately, an object came flying to her.

Instantly grasping the handle, she got on and kicked off.

“NEVILLE! HOLD ON! FOR THE LOVE OF GOD DON’T LET GO OF THE REINS!” she shrieked, chasing the horse up towards the sun.

The seventh-year Gryffindor merely held on tighter.

Ginny could feel the sweat dripping down her back as she pushed Harry’s broom faster and faster.
Breaking from her speed for one final burst, Ginny pushed the broom into a nosedive. As Neville was tumbling to the ground, the wind whistled in her ears as the blood pounded in her head. In the last possible moment, she pulled back up, catching the seventh-year Gryffindor in her lap.

Not even hearing the cheers coming from below, Ginny let out a long sigh of relief as she slowly drifted back to the ground. Landing, she turned the welfare of Neville back to Hagrid as she stormed off looking for Draco Malfoy.

And she found him in the courtyard, chuckling with his friends.

Immediately, she confronted him.

“What the hell do you think you were doing back there?” she demanded, twirling him around to face her.

The Slytherin merely smirked and shrugged.

“I was just having a bit of fun, no need to get your knickers in a bunch.” He sneered.

“A bit of fun?! You call throwing a human being on a winged horse and having them rise over a hundred feet in the air A BIT OF FUN? NEVILLE COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED YOU HALF-BRAINED SOD!” she snapped, her voice rising and drawing attention.

She hadn’t noticed the clouds gathering from above.

“Yes well, he isn’t now, is he? Pity though. He deserves to be a Wizard less than that Mudblood Granger.” Draco drawled.

Ginny saw red. Blood pounded in her head and she felt herself just react. Her arm snapped back and before she could even think of stopping herself, her fist connected with Draco’s face.

Somewhere in the distance, somebody screamed as a lightening bolt stuck down.

The blonde reeled back and Ginny strode after him, the crowd parting like the Red Sea. Rain pelted them from above, but she ignored it as the crowds rushed back into the school.

“You sick bastard! Don’t you ever try something like that again! I swear to God I will hex you from here to fuckin’ China if you ever—”

Ginny’s words were accented by her fist meeting one or more parts of Draco’s body when suddenly, her entire body froze.

“Bloody hell, Harry, why did you freeze her? I wanted to see her kick the ferret’s ass!” Ron suddenly commented.

Harry merely sighed as he cast Wingardium Leviosa on her.

“As much I would’ve loved to see her kill Malfoy, I do not want to be an accomplice to murder. Now we better get her back into the castle before Snape shows up.” Harry explained, then cast an eye at the unconscious form of Draco Malfoy lying in the middle of the courtyard. “We’ll leave him there. Somebody will take care of him.”
As they were walking away, Hermione caught up.

“Did you see that sudden thunderstorm?” she asked as Ron took off in the lead. “There’s something different about Ginny this year…something powerful…”
