Trepidation Moon

Sorry this is so short, everyone. It\'s been a very long, very BAD week.

“How the bloody hell are we supposed to find out where he is in all of these. There are fifteen on my chart alone,” Harry growled, running his hands through his hair in frustration.

Draco leaned back against the desk for a moment and thought. “I may have an idea,” he said, going over to the fireplace and rummaging around on the mantle for the Floo powder.

“What are you planning, Malfoy?” Hermione asked, eying him curiously.

“Planning to contact Severus,” he said, finally finding the Floo powder.

“Why?” she asked.

He gave her a slanted look. “Can you think of anyone who can get into and out of just about any bad situation quite so well as he can?”

“Not in a million lifetimes,” Harry grumbled.

“You have the answer then,” he said, tossing the powder in and sticking his head into the fireplace.

Snape\'s nonexistent eyebrows went up when seeing Draco\'s head appear in the fireplace. “Draco, to what do I owe this unexpected visit?”

“Father\'s been taken,” Draco said, frowning darkly.

Snape sighed, “In so many ways. I presume you mean by his current nemesis.” At Draco\'s nod he shook his head. “What do you need me to do?”

“Search the properties we own in and around Scotland and the Hebrides. We\'ve narrowed it down to that point but aren\'t certain exactly where he is in those numbers.”

“Get a list of them to me and I\'ll go through them. Gods know you children can\'t be trusted with anything involving stealth. If the culprit contacts you in the interim I\'d like to know about it.”

“Certainly. Thank you,” Draco said, starting to pull his head out of the fireplace.

“Oh, and Draco,” Snape said.

“Yes?”

“Marry Miss Lovegood as soon as possible. Only a woman of her oddities could withstand yours.”

Draco grinned. “Even if I have to Imperious her first.”

Snape waved him off and Draco pulled his head out of the fireplace grinning.

“He\'s agreed to search for us,” Draco said, waving his wand over a blank piece of parchment and watching as the properties ran the length of it. “I\'ll get this to him.”

“What are we supposed to do in the mean time, Malfoy?” Harry asked, looking none too happy about the whole affair.

Draco shrugged. “We wait, Potter. Surely they taught you learned helplessness in auror training as well as they did Granger and myself.” He stuck his head back into the fireplace and gave Snape the list. Then walked over to where Luna was curled up on the couch and sat next to her, leaning wearily against her shoulder.

“Are you terribly worried about him?” she asked, smoothing back his hair.

Draco sighed. “Yes and no, Luna. I\'m naturally worried about him being in what has to be a bad situation. However, this is my father we\'re talking about. If anyone can figure a way out of anything or at very least survive it, it\'s him.”

Snape looked over the list of properties that Draco had given him thoroughly. Then he checked them against the maps of said properties that were unplotted that Lucius had given him countless ages ago in case either of them had needed to hide. Considering a few of the properties had been unknown even to the dark lord. His eyes narrowed thoughtfully as he mused on which one he would choose to carry out something of this nature. He mulled over the whole thing, trying to recall which had dungeons or at very least holding cells. It would take one or the other to keep Lucius from tearing the place apart.

He scanned the list again and put an X next to the ones he would save until last. When he had the list narrowed down to three places, he started off.

The first two yielded nothing out of the ordinary, not even in the dungeons and secret rooms. As he approached the third, however, an odd tremor began to vibrate through even his nonexistent form. He looked thoughtfully at the place from a corporeal person’s view point. Only one way in that was visible, through the front gate. Jagged rocks surrounding the outer edge of the property by the sea. Those same rocks would make any approach of the small cave and cove dangerous. He knew for a fact though that Lucius’ father and grandfather had used the property to smuggle various items in and out of their possession. The property was naturally defended on three sides. It would be the perfect place to hide something. Or someone.
