chapter 51
Chapter 51
It had been three months since the end of the war and the Handfasting of Sirius and Severus. Harry and Draco were sitting at The Leaky Cauldron each of them nursing a firewhiskey. While a part of them felt bad about leaving the girls at Safehaven they needed the break. Completely oblivious to the stares they were receiving they enjoyed the solitude.
“Harry do you think the girls are ok? I feel really bad about us being in London while they are at home.”
“Draco I’m sure they are fine. Besides Sirius and Severus live with us, Remus, Tonks, and Teddy are frequent visitors and ever since I gave your mother the address she may as well have moved in. And really do you think that Ali can’t take care of herself? Between her and your baby she has more power than even I do.”
Draco smiled his eyes lighting up at the thought of his wife then he grew serious. “Well yeah she is even more powerful since she became pregnant but you don’t share a room with her. Her magic is so unstable that the other day I woke up freezing because she had caused it to snow in our room.”
Harry burst out laughing “What? Why did she cause it to snow?”
“In her words ‘If everyone in this bloody house insists on raising the heating charms and having a bloody fire elemental here I will make damn sure I’M comfortable.’ I have quickly learned to stay out of her way when she gets in that mood.”
Harry smirked “I am so glad that our baby doesn’t affect Mione’s powers that way. I think I would be scared to even be in the same house with her if it did.”
Draco smiled “And now do you understand why I jumped at the chance to get away for a couple hours?”
“Yeah I do now. Why haven’t you sent her over to me? Maybe I could have helped?”
“For the simple reason that it doesn’t take much to set her off Harry and I really don’t want her hurting you.”
Harry grew thoughtful folding his hands in front of him and leaning across the table. Speaking softly he said “Do you really think that she could?”
Draco ran a hand through his platinum hair and sighed “Yeah I think that she could. About a month ago I found her in the training room. She had one of your simulations going and man was she pissed. She was shooting off curses and spells like nothing I have ever seen. What scared me though was when she had a simulation of my father. She calmly stood there and then let loose.”
“What did she do and why didn’t you tell me.”
“I didn’t tell you because she didn’t know I was there and what she did, she threw flaming ice at him Harry. I’m not sure but I am pretty positive that our son has inherited your fire element. I asked Pomfrey and she said that until the baby is born we won’t know for sure but she suspects that too.”
“How can the baby have MY power? I can understand inheriting Ali’s but mine? How is that possible?”
“This is just a guess mind you but Pomfrey thinks that since Ali is having a boy and Hermione is having a girl that when you and Ali combined your powers to fight Tom the elements mixed. Since Hermione is Muggleborn Pomfrey can’t tell what powers or how powerful your daughter actually is like she can with Ali. It’s the same reason no one knew how extremely powerful you were until you were born.”
Harry leaned back in his chair. “Well that does make since but why would she have hurt me if we trained together? Ali and I have trained together since we met” It was obvious that Harry was a little hurt by Ali not wanting to train with him.
Draco saw the hurt in his brother-in-law’s eyes and explained “First off Harry it wasn’t Ali’s choice to not train with you, it was mine. I told her no after Pomfrey told her that if you used your elemental power against her then the baby might see you as threat and attack you through Ali. That’s also why she has been keeping her distance from you these last few months. She doesn’t want to hurt you and yet she knows that she could. I tell you man after this pregnancy I am not sure I even want more kids. It’s reeking havoc on my marriage and it’s hell on Ali.”
Harry saw the despair in Draco’s eyes and laid his hand on top of Draco’s lending his support. “Now I feel really guilty because Mione isn’t going through this like Ali is. Her mood swings are something else though but I don’t have to worry about magical meltdowns though. I am so sorry Draco I just wish there was something that I could do to help.”
Draco quickly squeezed Harry’s hand then pulled away. “I know and thank you Harry. I love Ali so much that it hurts knowing I am responsible for this too. If I hadn’t made her pregnant then she wouldn’t be going through this.”
Harry gave Draco a wicked smirk and asked tongue in cheek “So what has this done to your sex life than? Mine is great.”
Draco laughed “Completely nonexistent. The baby sees me as a threat.”
Harry groaned in sympathy “Ouch. I am sorry. That has to suck.”
Draco nodded in agreement but before he could say anything they heard a loud “Oh my Merlin! It’s Harry Potter and Draco Malfoy!”
Draco and Harry exchanged looks and said in unison “Oh shit.”
