The Ghost of Bellatrix

The room was completely dark and it was very cold. There was a strong decaying smell that burned her nose and she was terrified of the scurrying that she heard on the floor under her bed. Her hands were tied behind her and a dirty rag was shoved into her mouth. She fought the tears the flowed down her cheeks and tried to swallow back her fear. Her daddies would come find her and scare away the bad man. She knew what he wanted and she wasn’t going to help him.

Arabella told her to only help those in true need. His need was greed and it wasn’t from the heart. He was an evil man who only thought of his needs and not those of others. He had said that he was daddies’ uncle but she didn’t believe him. She knew that Grandfather did not have any brothers, nor did Grandmother. She knew that her Grandma had one sister and her Grandpa was an only child. He was not a part of her family.

She saw a ghost in the corner of the room looking at her in wonder. The woman had crazy hair and kind of looked like her Grandmother. “Who are you?” she asked in her mind.

“I am Bellatrix. Why are you in my home?” the woman asked her. “How can you see me?”

“A bad man brought me here. He wants me to help him find his families lost money. He said his wife hid it before she died. Are you his wife?”

The ghost nodded. “How can you see me?” she asked again.

“I am a medium. I see ghosts.”

“I won’t you where I hid the money. He doesn’t deserve it. He hasn’t been a loyal husband.”

“I wouldn’t tell even if you told me. He is evil and wants to use my gift for his gain. I will only help those who truly need me. My father told me that greed is a bad thing.”

Bellatrix looked at the pretty little girl with platinum hair and huge green eyes. “Your father must be very smart.”

“I have two fathers. One is the savior of the Wizarding world,” she said proudly, “and the other is a Malfoy. All Malfoy’s are smart,” she bragged.

“A Malfoy?” Bellatrix gasped.

“Yes, my father is Draco. My other dad is Harry Potter,” she said proudly.

“What! How can this be?” Bellatrix shouted. She was enraged at this. Her little blood traitor of a nephew was with Harry Potter? The man who killed her Lord?

“My dad’s are a soul bound pair. It is very rare. That is why I am a medium. Only a child from a soul bound pair can become a medium.”

Bellatrix stared with fire in her eyes. This was the child of the wizard who ruined her life. It was because of her father that she had died. If the boy who lived had just died when he was a child like he was supposed to have the war never would have happened and she wouldn’t have been at Hogwarts the day of the final battle. She never would have been dueling with Molly Weasley and she would never have died. “Do you know who I am?” she demanded.

“You are Bellatrix,” Lilly answered, confused. She had just told her her name moments ago.

“Yes, I am Bellatrix, but I am also your Aunt. Your grandmother was my sister.”

Lilly stared for a moment at the angry ghost. Which grandmother was she related to? “Are you Grandmother Narcissa’s sister or Grandma Lilly’s sister?”

“I assure you, I am no Mudblood!” she shouted in anger.

Lilly had heard that term whispered by her father once, but she wasn’t sure what it meant. The witch looked so angry she was afraid to ask her. She was afraid of this ghost and worried about the hate she felt radiating from the spirit.

“I am Bellatrix Black Lestrange! I am a pureblood! I come from a very old and noble family!”

“My father is the Black heir. He made me his heir and daddy made Sirius the Malfoy heir.”

“There are two of you?” Bellatrix demanded. Not only did the blood traitor reproduce once, but he did it twice?

“There are five of us. Siri and I are the oldest, then Jazzy and then Severus and James.”

Bellatrix screamed and yanked her hands through her hair trying to pull it out. She started spinning around and around in circles screaming at the top of her lungs. Lilly wished that she could put her hands up to block the horrible shrieking but they were tied. She watched as the ghost yelled a few more moments about blood traitors, half-breeds, and the boy who lived who should have died and then the ghost abruptly disappeared. Lilly felt a moment of relief until the door slammed open.

Rabastan Lestrange walked into the room and glared at the little girl lying on the bed. “Are you ready to help me yet?”

Draco and Blaise arrived in time to watch Arabella being driven away in a Muggle ambulance. The sirens screamed and there was a crowd gathered around. “Where is she being taken?” Draco demanded to a bystander.

“Probably memorial hospital. It’s the closest.”

“Where is it located?” he asked impatiently.

The man glared at Draco and said, “its on Seventeenth and Main. You don’t have to be so rude, man!”

“I assure you that I don’t have time for pleasantries! Did anyone here see what happened?” he demanded.

Draco felt a tug on the bottom of his sweater. “I saw,” a small voice said.

He looked down to see a little boy around Lilly’s age. He gently smiled and kneeled down next to him. “What is your name?”

“Ryan.”

“I’m Draco. My little girl was here with the lady who just left in the ambulance. Did you see what happened to her?”

The little boy’s eyes got big and he nodded. “A bad man took her and they disappeared.”

Draco groaned. “They disappeared?”

He nodded again. “They were here and she was trying to get away. Then the man pulled her tight against him and they disappeared. It was like magic,” he said in awe.

Blaise saw the stricken look on Draco’s face. This was going to be a mess. “I’m going to contact the Ministry. They’ll need to be here.”

Draco nodded. “I need to find Harry. I have a feeling if it was my uncle, he would have gone back to the Lestrange Manor. Can you find a floo and send for Hermione Longbottom and Molly Weasley? I’ll need them to watch the kids.”

“Sure. Where are you going from here?”

“Nowhere. I am going to call Harry and have him meet me here. He had the kids with him in the car. He can drive straight here. Bring Hermione here. She can drive them back to the Manor.” He pulled his cell phone from his pocket and dialed Harry’s number. He was thankful that Harry had talked him into this Muggle device. It was a very quick way of getting a hold of his husband.
“Where are you, love?” Harry demanded. “Siri is going crazy. He said Lilly is afraid.”

“I think that Rabastan Lestrange has her. Arabella is on her way to a Muggle hospital and I am where the abduction occurred. Where are you?”

“I am just about in London. Give me the address where you are and I’ll come to you.”

Draco looked at the building and read the number off to him. “What street is this?” he demanded.

“Oak,” the little boy told him.

“I’m on Oak Street in front of an apartment complex. I sent Zambini to the Ministry to report what happened and he is going to send Hermione and Molly here. They can take the children and we can go after Lestrange.”

“I’m going to kill him, Draco.”

“Not if I don’t beat you to it first,” Harry said hanging up the phone.

Draco looked down at the little boy who was staring up at him. “What?” he asked in frustration.

“My mum told me it’s a sin to kill,” he said.

Draco groaned and pushed his hair back out of his face. “You’re mum is right. Killing is a bad thing, but that bad man took my little girl. He is going to be sorry for it.”

The little boy nodded in understanding. “Dad’s are s’posed to protect their kids.”

“Yes they are, and I always protect mine.” He stood there in front of the building staring at the rundown neighborhood for a few moments before the Aurors appeared. There were six of them along with Blaise and Hermione.

“Draco!” Hermione cried throwing herself at him. “Oh gods, what are you going to do?”

Draco pulled the pregnant witch into his arms and said, “We’re going to get her back.” He could feel the emotion bubbling up inside of him as he tried to fight back his despair. He felt his eyes start to water and he pulled back. Malfoy’s did not cry, especially in public.

“What do you need me to do?” she said in her take-charge voice.

“Harry will be here in a few minutes. I need you to drive the kids back to the manor and stay with them until we return.”

“Do you know where they are?” she demanded.

“I have a pretty good idea. I think that he would take her to his manor.”

Hermione gasped. “But isn’t his home old? Hasn’t it been in the Lestrange family for years?”

“It’s older than the Malfoy manor. What does that have to do with anything?” he demanded.

“Oh Draco! The ghosts!” she cried.

Draco immediately felt the blood drain from his face and he closed his eyes in pain. He had not thought of that. “God’s help us,” he whispered.

“You need to get Arabella. She’ll know what to do,” Hermione said.

“Wait here for Harry. I’m going to apparate to the Muggle hospital and retrieve her. We’ll be right back.”

Hermione watched as he walked down the block and then disappeared. She gasped when she heard a little boy’s shouts.

“See! I told you they disappeared!” he said pointing towards where Draco had just disappeared.

She looked over at the Auror who stood closest to her. “I think you have your work cut out for you here,” she said trying to smile.

A/N: Please tell me what you think of the exchange between Lilly and Bellatrix. Should Bellatrix do something mean or should she be redeamed and try and save her from Rebastan?
