Kidnapped
Traffic was heavy and Harry was impatient. He wanted to pass all of the slow drivers but at the same time knew that he needed to drive safely with the kids in the car. If he did any passing he knew that Siri would say something to Draco and then Draco would have his ass. Draco loved to lecture and Harry hated to listen to it. He tried very hard to avoid Draco’s long-winded lectures.
The car in front of him was obviously being driven by an older Muggle woman. He could see her gray head bobbing barely above the steering wheel. She kept taping her breaks and slowing down way below the speed limit anytime there was another car coming towards her. He bit back a nasty comment about old lady drivers and took a deep calming breath. He was just so impatient to see Lilly.
He heard one of the sleeping babies stirring and knew that if one started howling, all three of them would. “Siri, can you grab a bottle?” he asked his son who was sitting in the very back row of the SUV.
“It’s Jazzy, Dad. She’s going to want to be held.”
“Well you can’t hold her in the car, it’s dangerous. See if she’ll take the bottle.”
“I’ll have to take my seat belt off,” he said.
Harry sighed. “Alright, I’ll pull over.”
“But if you pull over, we might be late and miss Lilly!” Siri said in a panic.
“If Jazzy gets going she’ll wake the boy’s.”
“I might be able to reach her without taking my seat belt off,” he said stretching.
“No, Siri, I’ll stop. We’ll make it quick.” Harry turned on his signals and pulled over to the side of the road using his hazard lights when he came to a stop. “Ok, grab the bottle and see if you can get her to take it.”
“If you move her car seat back here with me I can reach her better,” he said helpfully.
“That’s probably not a bad idea.” Harry looked out his mirror to check the traffic and when it was clear he opened his door and ran around to the other side of the vehicle. He opened the rear door and quietly tried to unbuckle Jazzy’s car seat without waking her brothers. When he had her unhooked her passed her seat to Siri and then climbed in the back with him. “Let’s hurry and do this. I’ll hand you the strap through the hole, and you click it into place.”
“Why don’t you just use your wand, Dad?”
Harry grinned. “Oh yeah!” He pulled his wand from his back pocket and flicked it and within seconds Jazzy was firmly back in place. Her big green eyes stared up at her father and Harry leaned down and kissed her soft cheek. “Are you hungry, baby?” he cooed.
A second later a bottle flew from Siri’s hand and went straight to Jazzy’s mouth. Harry looked at Siri in shock. “Did you do that?” Harry demanded.
Siri was just as surprised to have the bottle fly out of his hand as his father was. “No, Dad!” Siri said shaking his head.
Harry looked down at Jazzy. “Did you do that, love?” he asked in wonder. If she had, she was the youngest of all the children, so far, to perform magic.
Jazzy continued to stare at her father. Harry laughed. “I guess you were hungry,” he said watching as she inhaled her bottle. “Just keep an eye on her, Siri.” Harry climbed back out of the vehicle and shut the door. The boys had both slept through the switch and Harry was relieved that he didn’t have to deal with three crying babies. He looked both directions for oncoming traffic and when the coast was clear he jumped back into the vehicle. He pulled his seat belt in, checked one more time that the road was clear and was back on the road.
“Dad, we should have apparated.”
“We have to many babies and not enough adults. Each baby needs an adult holding onto them. You can’t apparate by yourself either.”
“We could have brought Aunt Mione and Neville with us.”
“That would have been nice, but Arabella won’t allow anyone outside of the family to visit.”
“But Aunt Mione and Neville are family, Dad!” Siri said indignantly.
Harry smiled. Siri was always loyal to those he loved. “Yes, they are, but she doesn’t want any family that doesn’t live with us to come.”
“Grandfather asked me if I knew where she was,” Siri told him.
“What?” Harry demanded. “Have you been in the portrait gallery again? Siri, it’s not safe there. The Malfoy ancestors don’t want a half blood for an heir! They could harm you!”
Siri shook his head. “Nah, they said I was all they had since Grandfather couldn’t produce any more children than Dad.”
“They’ve accepted you?” Harry asked in surprise.
“Yeah. Who else is going to carry on the family name? They said that because you and Dad are soul bound that it was honorable for me to be born a half blood. They aren’t happy about it, but its not as bad as if you were not soul bound. They said the Potter family was pure until your dad married Grandma Lilly.”
Harry snorted. “You know how I feel about all that pure blood crap, Siri.”
Siri sighed and in his long-suffering voice said, “It’s what is on the inside that counts, not the purity of your blood. There are good and bad people in every race and blood status across the world and it is up to me to decide if they are honorable enough to be my friend. I am not to choose my friends based on whether or not their blood is pure.”
Harry tried to fight back the laugh that threatened to come forth. “At least you have been listening to something that I have said.”
“I always listen to you, Dad,” Siri said with a grin. “Except when I forget too.”
Harry rolled his eyes and grinned at his first-born. “You’re something else, Sirius.”
Siri took that as a compliment and smiled down at his baby sister who was staring at him. “That means he loves me,” he whispered, kissing her small hand.
Draco kept the port key in his hand and paced the study. He was anxious to see Lilly and he was tired of waiting. He wanted desperately to wrap his arms around her small body, inhale her sweet scent and never let her go. It had been to long since he had seen her and he needed her. He loved all of his children, but Lilly would always have a special place in his heart. They had been alone together for almost five years and they had bonded in a way that he had not with the others. The babies were still to young, and Harry and Siri had bonded the way that he and Lilly had.
He knew that it was a great thing to be born as a Medium, but he reverently wished that this honor had passed his family by. He would much rather have his children at home with him living a happy normal life. Well as normal as it could be having soul bound fathers, one of them being the savior of the Wizarding world. He knew that others would seek them out just because of whom their father was, but Draco was used to that. He had spent most of his life with people trying to befriend him because of the Malfoy name. His children would have it two-fold. They had the Malfoy name, but they also had the Potter name, and as much as he hated to admit it, Harry was much more popular with society than he was.
Draco smiled at that. He found it one of life’s biggest ironies. Harry hated the attention and people noticing him, but he was one of the most recognizable Wizards in the United Kingdom. Everywhere that they went someone approached him and either thanked him for ending the war with the defeat of Voldemort, or to ask for his autograph and picture. He was always kind and gracious about it, but Draco knew how much it bothered him to be singled out that way.
He looked up at the hall clock and sighed. An hour to go still. Time moved so slowly when you were waiting for it. He was too amped up to concentrate on anything so he continued to pace.
“Master, Mr. Zambini is here. He is wanting to see you, Master.”
“Tell him that I am unavailable and that I will contact him later.”
“He said to tell Master that it is important.”
Draco glared at the house elf. He was not in the mood to entertain company and didn’t want to stand here arguing with the elf as to the importance of Blaise’s visit. “I am unavailable,” he hissed.
The elf nodded and popped out of the room. He knew when to push the Master, and now was not one of those times.
Draco shook his head in disgust. The Malfoy elves used to be so obedient and now, thanks to Harry, they argued and talked back. Harry didn’t think of them as elves bound to the family, but as nice family retainers that were really a part of the family. He didn’t believe in treating the house elves cruelly, but he didn’t believe that they were part of the family either. They were there to provide to the comforts of the family and that was all.
“Draco! Draco!” he heard shouted. “Draco!”
Draco was furious. He did not want to see anyone right now and he was not happy about someone forcing their way into his home, old friend or not.
“Draco! I need to speak with you, it’s an emergency!” Blaise shouted.
Draco sobered instantly. He could hear the fear in Blaise’s voice. He rushed from the study and out to the front room. “What is it?” Draco demanded.
“I was just in Muggle London, I have a mistress there that I see a couple times a week.”
“Blaise, this is hardly the time to tell me about your sexual escapades!” Draco said in disgust. “I am about to step out for a few hours and this isn’t a good time.”
“That’s just it! I saw Lilly and an older woman. They had just come out of the building where my mistress lives when a Wizard stunned the old woman and grabbed Lilly. He apparated with her and left the old woman lying on the ground!”
“What!” Draco shouted, his heart had just stopped beating.
“I haven’t seen Lilly in awhile, but I’m sure it was her!”
“Who was it that took her?” Draco demanded.
“I think that it was Rabastan Lestrange!”
“What?” Draco gasped in horror. His uncle had Lilly? God’s, he was the worst sort of man and the last person on this earth that he would feel safe having his child with. He was terrified for the safety of his daughter.
“It’s been years since I have seen him, but I am sure that it was him. I had thought he was dead.”
“He disappeared after the final battle. My Aunt Bellatrix died along with Rodolphus, but Rabastan disappeared and nobody had heard from him since. Come Blaise, take me to where this happened. Where is Arabella?” he demanded. It was imperative that he retrieve his daughter as soon as possible.
“Arabella?”
“The old women with Lilly!” he said impatiently.
“I left her there while I came straight her for you.” Blaise had wondered often where the oldest Malfoy daughter was, but Draco and Harry had always had an excuse. He was more curious than ever now. Why would Draco and Harry allow an old woman to have their daughter in a Muggle tenement?
“Dad!” Siri screamed. “Someone has Lilly!”
“What?” Harry demanded. “Don’t scream you’ll wake the babies.
“Someone took Lilly! They stole her, Dad!” Siri cried hysterical. “Hurry, Dad, she’s scared.”
“How do you know?” Harry demanded.
“I can feel it. I can always feel how she feels.”
“I didn’t know that you two were connected that way,” he said almost to himself.
“Dad! She needs us!” Siri cried.
“Siri, do you know where she is?” Harry said soothingly trying to calm Siri down as he still drove the SUV.
“It’s dark and she’s afraid. She doesn’t like who has her.”
“Do you know who it is?”
“No. She doesn’t either.”
“Siri, I am going to pull the car over, and then I am going to lock all of the doors and leave you here for a moment while I apparate home to your father. I need to get him to help us.”
Siri cried. “Don’t leave us, Dad!” he shouted as tears of anguish streamed down his face.
Harry was torn. He didn’t want to leave Siri with the babies in the condition that he was in, but he needed Draco. “Flunky!” he shouted. The house elf was the best way of getting Draco.
“Master called Flunky?” he said, appearing seconds after Harry’s call.
“I need Draco!” Harry shouted louder than he meant to.
“Master Draco is not home.”
“What?” Harry demanded looking down at his watch. “It’s to early!”
“He left with Mr. Zambini.”
“Why the hell would he do that?” Harry demanded.
“Miss Lilly has been kidnapped.”
Harry groaned and Siri screamed. “Oh shit!” he whispered.
