Rumor's Confirmed
CHAPTER 51
The sound of footsteps on the marble flooring of the Grand Foyer had everyone turning just as they reached the arched entryway. Pausing at the top of the steps that led down into the Grand Ballroom of the Ravenwood Estate, home of the Durin family to see Commander Jacob Adama's grandsons.
Captain Roark Durin Peverell Potter, and his brother, Hadrian Peverell Potter had wide smiles on their faces, and more than a few gasps sounded from men and ladies alike. A soft murmuring began as both young men came down the three steps, silver and emerald eyes finding and locking on the two men who so impatiently waited for them.
Lt. Colonel Rodolphus Lestrange and Major Rabastan Lestrange had turned as one, and seeing the two young men they had come here to wed appear began to move at the same time. Moving down the steps of the dais where they waited with Raphael and Schyler, their sherry brown eyes, normally expressionless, full of their emotions, just as Harry and Roark's were.
They came together in the middle of the red-carpeted aisle between the many rows of seats that held their family, and the guests that had come for the wedding., their eyes never once leaving each other. Roark slowly lifted his left hand, the lights dancing over the precious jewels of sapphire and diamonds. Beside him, though he could not see it, Harry was doing the same, the ring on his finger sparkling blood red of the rubies and the rainbow color of the diamonds.
"I have missed you so." came so softly, at the exact same time, and only heard because of the absolute silence that reigned.
"Just as I have missed you, my beloved," came their responses, each leaning in to brush light kisses to their lips.
"You look...stunning," Rodolphus said as he took the hand resting against his cheek to press a kiss to the ring he wore.
"Hum...so do you," Roark returned, leaning up to press his lips to his smooth jaw, murmuring, "positively yummy in your dress uniform."
Rodolphus threw his head back as he erupted into hearty laughter. "Tell me something, baby, what is it with you and the word yummy?"
A shrug and a grin. "It just happens to be the word that pops into my head when I see you in uniform. What? Don't you think I look yummy?"
"Darling, you look positively delectable in anything that you wear," he leaned in so that only Roark would hear his next words, "or when you wear nothing at all." He chuckled when Roark's eyes flared with desire, his cheeks heating with a blush. "When I get you home...and ALL to myself...I intend to prove that to you in great detail."
"Rodolphus," he breathed, his voice going very husky.
"Come along now, darling, we have a marriage ceremony to get through first."
Laying his hand on the arm he presented to him, Roark heard Rabastan say, "Let's get this show on the road so we can take you two home and ravish you to our heart's content."
"WELL," came his Aunt Athena's voice into the chuckling of several men, and the giggles from more than a few of the ladies, "there is absolutely no doubt in MY mind that they are very deeply in love with each other."
"Nor in mine," Ila said, her smile nearly as wide as her daughter's was, suddenly wishing that Lily and James were alive to see this.
The guests turned as one as Roark, Harry and the two men they were to wed moved up the steps to where Admiral Roark Durin stood waiting, a smile curving his lips as the four came to a stop before him.
"Rodolphus Declan Lestrange, Roark Christopher Durin Peverell Potter, Rabastan Archer Lestrange, Hadrian James Peverell Potter," he began in a deep, resonating voice, "you have each come here to be married in the Ancient Kobolian marriage-bonding right. Before we can begin that with clear intent, I must, in good conscience, ask this question of each of you, and each of you must answer."
He looked at each of them in turn and saw their nods. "Do any of you have any doubts? Are you clear of heart, mind, body, and soul? For if you do, and are not, then you must speak now of them, or forever be silent?"
"I have no doubts, and am clear of heart, mind, body, and soul," Harry and Roark said as one. "We have come here with the intent to be sealed in the Ancient Kobolian marriage-bonding right."
"I have no doubts and we are clear of heart, mind, body, and soul," Rodolphus and Rabastan spoke next. "We have come before you to be sealed in the Ancient Kobolian marriage-bonding right."
"So be it. Let us begin."
