Chapter 5.: OWL-test


She ran up to the Astronomy Tower. She took the Time-Turner out and sighed.

“There goes nothing.” she said and turned the Turner fourteen times. Everything turned black and after that she was spinning in a sea of colors. She kept her eyes closed as much as she could during the trip and after about two minutes everything went silent again. She opened her eyes again and stood in the same Tower but now in daylight. She placed the Time-Turner in her pocket and looked at her robes. She needed robes the students wore twenty-six years ago. She headed for the laundry room on the second floor, hoping that the students wouldn’t see her before changing robes. She didn’t meet a soul. She was in the process of taking a clean Gryffindor robe when her eyes caught the Slytherin ones.

“Better wear Slytherin’s.” she said to herself as she changed. It felt really strange when she looked in the mirror. She was a Slytherin now. Suddenly she heard a loud voice through the hallway.

“Will all fifth-years go to the Great Hall for their OWL-exams.” Hermione had to act like a fifthyear again otherwhise she had to go to class now. She headed to the Great Hall and entered. There they all were: James, Peter, Remus and Sirius. They were picking on an other Slytherin boy, but where was Snape?

“Please take your seats. You’re late, Mister Snape!” Snape, a very young one, came running into the Hall and took the desk in front of Hermione. He was very pale, maybe because he was so nervous. His hair was a bit shorter than usual and not that greasy as it was in her own time.

“Turn your questions and begin, now.” It was the voice of an unknown wizard. She gave a last look at Snape before turning over her piece of paper. ‘DEFENCE AGAINST THE DARK ARTS - ORDINARY WIZARDING LEVEL’ it said at the top.

“Piece of cake.” whispered Hermione to herself and grinned.

“Is it?” said the nervous young Snape.

“Mister Snape, be quiet now.”said the unknown wizard. Hermione had finished her exam far within the allowed time, as usual. She saw Snape sweating like hell. She briefly looked over his shoulder and saw that he, just like herself, had wrote at least a foot more than all the other students had.

“Five minutes.” Said another wizard but this time she knew who it was. It was professor Flitwick, walking past their tables. James was re-reading his work and smirked. Snape on the other hand was rocking forward and backward in his chair.

“Quills down, please.” Every student lay their quill down and rolled up their pieces of parchment. Poor professor, she thought to herself as the tiny professor was knocked over. After professor Flitwick was to his feet again,and the exams collected, they all left the Great Hall. Hermione turned to look for Snape and their eyes locked. Only a few seconds later, Snape turned his head, a little embarrassed.

“So, you said it would be ‘a piece of cake’. Do you still think that way now? Who are you anyway?” he asked with his icy voice. Hermione swallowed. She hadn’t thought about that.

“I’m Hermione and I was just transported to Hogwarts.” Snape narrowed his eyes.

“When did you arrive here?”

“Just before this OWL-test. I studied in the train.” Snape looked at her robes and frowned.

“Well, I guess I’ll see you around later.” He said and left her alone in the Entrance Hall.

“Always been a bastard..” she whispered and followed him and the Gryffindors outside.
