CHAPTER 5

He shot up with a cry, sweat covering his face, his bare chest.  Blindly, he reached out to press a bottom on the com pad on his bedside stand, then waited for an answer, his head resting in up raised knees trying to calm his racing heart, the dream already fading from his waking memory.

"Yes?" came sleepily over the com.

"Ethan?" he murmured, sudden tears filling his eyes, though he tried to stop them.

There came a sound of blankets being tossed aside.  "Rory?" came immediately.  "What is it, little brother?" he asked, already sounding more alert.

"I need you," he whispered.  "Please, I need--"

"Code your door, kiddo," he said instantly, getting to his feet as he reached for his robe to pull it on.

Roark had barely finished entering the code to open the locked sitting area of his quarters when the door to the sleeping chamber slid open.  "Light's low.  I'm so sorry," he said softly, lifting his head to see Ethan moving across the room as the lights came on.

"Never be sorry for needing us, Rory," he told him as he took a seat on his bed, slipping his arm around him to draw him close to his side.  "That is what family is for, to call on when we're needed.  It was a bad one?" he asked as Roark's head turned onto his shoulder.

He nodded, lifting his head when he heard the sleeping chamber door open mere microns later.  "You called them?" he asked as first Harry, then Severus, Sebastien and Robin, Kili, Roan, Dylan...he gave a blink of surprise when Charlie followed Dylan, then Logan, and...he blinked again, looking from Logan to Ryder, then back again, before turning his eyes on Dylan and Charlie, his brow arching.

"Not one word, Imp,"  Logan warned him, pointing a finger at him as Dylan shook his head, a slow smile curving his lips at the look that entered their youngest brother's eyes.

"Oh no.  Of course not.  Not a word, except that I am glad you two have, FINALLY, like Dylan and Charlie, pulled your heads out of your asses and admitted what you felt, though I was NOT expecting you to be sleeping together."

"Roa...rk," Logan whined, much to the amusement of his family, and his lover.  Both Dylan and Logan smacked their hands to their lover's bare chests, Logan saying, "Do stop it.  There is no need to further encourage him."

"Oh, of course not, sweetheart," Ryder said with a chuckle.

"And personally," came Charlie's amused deep voice, "I don't think he NEEDS any encouragement.  He just loves to stir you all up."

A snort sounded as Roan, glad he had left Bill asleep in his bed instead of waking him once his emergency alert had gone off.  He moved to the bed, sat on the edge to his right, reaching out to run a hand through his hair.

          "Another dream?"

He nodded.  "Just like always.  Like I was in the middle of it, watching it happen, but not able to say, OR do anything, let alone stop it."

Harry was there then, and Ethan, looking at him with a smile, left his place to let Harry slip into the bed.  "Was there anything specific you can remember?"

Roark turned his head onto his shoulder, his eyes slipping closed as he tried to draw the dream out of the recesses of his memory.  Silence reined for a few microns before he gave a frustrated sigh.  His eyes came open, his hand lifting to rub over his face.

"No.  It was...IS the same as always, except..." he drifted as a wisp came to him, and he paled, going nearly white.

Suddenly very afraid himself, Kili moved to kneel beside the bed. reaching out to cover his left hand.  "Except...what, Rory?" he asked.  "Did something new happen?"

          "Dolph," he breathed.

"What about Rodolphus, Roark?" Dylan moved closer, taking a seat on the end of the bed, laying a calm hand on Kili's shoulder, then reached out with the other to lay it on Harry's knee, for he could see, and FEEL them becoming very agitated.

He needed them to calm down, if for no other reason than to keep Roark as calm as he APPEARED to be...appeared being the operative word, especially as he could feel that Roark was not at all calm, his mind was a roiling...

"He was there this time," he murmured, silver eyes taking on a distant look.  "He was just...THERE.  For the first time since I began to have these dreams, he was there."

"What was he doing, Roark?" Severus asked, his voice soft as he lay a hand on Harry's shoulder, giving it a squeeze, and when he looked at him, he shook his head.  He next looked to Kili and Dylan, giving them a barely perceptible head shake.

          Or so HE thought anyway.

"Don't think for one micron, Severus, that I didn't see you telling them to remain silent, because I did.  He wasn't doing anything.  Do you all remember that hill behind the Academy?  The one that overlooks Caprica Bay?"
