Prompt: Prompt table B: 30 prompts. Prompt 21; Open

Pairing: Arthur/Merlin

-Open-

Trudging through the forest, ground slick with mud from the rain pouring from the sky, Harry gave a despondent meow as his paws slipped out from under him and he tumbled into a puddle in front of him.

Clawing his way out of the water, Harry shook his small furred body, and cursed his luck. Only his luck would make him get hit by a spell which tossed him back into a time where witchcraft got you killed. Only he would get spotted using his wand to dry himself off from the water. And only he would have an Animagus form of a cute little kitten that wouldn't allow him to scare off attackers or defend himself from the villagers that had tried to grab him to burn him alive for using his 'wicked witchcraft'.

Shaking his black furred body, Harry took off at a run, hoping to find a shelter soon enough so he could get dry.

He had walked for about an hour before he came upon a village and a castle. Slipping by the guards, Harry made his way towards the open doors of what seemed to be the stables. He was sure he could curl up in something to get warm and dry off and wait out the storm before he tried to find a way home.

Walking further into the stables, Harry gave a purr as he caught sight of a warm looking red cloak or cape on top of a table. Shaking off the rest of the water clinging to him, Harry hopped up onto the table then settled onto the cloak, using his teeth to move the warm fabric close to his body.

Settled onto the cloak, Harry closed his eyes and started to drift off before he heard to loud voices coming closer to him. Opening his eyes with an annoyed hiss, Harry glared at the two men approaching him. The blond seemed to be berating the brunette about something.

“Honestly, Merlin how did you forget this down here?” The blond asked, reaching out to grab the cloak.

“I wasn't aware you wanted me to carry your cloak, sire.” The brunette said with an eye roll.

“Oh yes because I just have you as my manservant so you can walk behind me looking pretty...ouch!” Yanking his hand back, the blond looked towards the cloak holding his hand close to his chest.

Giving another annoyed hiss, Harry curled up into the cloak with his back to the two men.

“Hey! That's my cloak you little mongrel!” The blond said with his own, unimpressive, growl.

“I think he's claimed that spot, Arthur.” The brunette said with a little laugh. “He probably came in looking for shelter from the rain.”

“I don't care why he's in here I just want him off of my cloak.”

Opening his eyes again, Harry gave a growl and lifted his paw, showing off his sharp claws.

Bending down, the blond, Arthur, looked him in the eyes and said, “Shoo that's mine.

“Maybe if we bring him inside he'll let you have it.”

“I'm not bringing this flea infested mongrel into my castle.”

“Technically your father's castle.” Merlin said, ignoring the glare. “I'll take care of him, sire. You won't even know he's here.”

“What do I get if I let you keep the beast?” Arthur asked with a slight grin.

Moving forwards, Merlin pressed against Arthur and said, “I can give you whatever you want.”

Leaning in, about to press their lips together, Arthur pulled back with a yelp as the creature jumped onto his body before leaping forwards to land in Merlin's arms, rubbing against him with a loud, rumbling purr.

Laughing, Merlin scratched the cat under the chin before turning to walk away. Without looking back, he called over his shoulder, “I'll thank you properly later, sire.”

Looking over Merlin's shoulder, Harry watched the cursing blond he now knew was the future King Arthur. He might not have planned this trip, but he was sure he could keep himself entertained with the blond until he finally found his way home.
