Of Pack & Pups
Chapter V
-Have you seen it yet?- cut in Anto’s voice suddenly as Amy shambled down the darkened corridor.
She couldn’t handle any light. Even the torches that lined the hallways were too much for her eyes at the moment and her other Senses…
Amy shivered.
That was why she kept shooting out spells to make sure that all of the torches ahead of her were always out so that she could be surrounded by darkness.
-Amy?- interrupted Anto’s voice again as Amy bent her head.
Thudding headache.
Her body felt like it was on fire.
Her muscles were screaming at her.
And her head wanted her to…
Fuck.
She just wanted…
Biting back a sob, Amy wrapped her arms around herself as her feet stumbled over themselves. She just couldn’t keep any kind of control going. Or any coordination.
What she needed was-
-Amy?- snapped in Anto’s voice again.
Amy’s head jerked.
There was no possibility of hiding from a Silent Conversation. Unless she could find the energy to shut down any chance of someone Connecting with her…
She was just too bloody exhausted to.
And if she did…
Merlin, the Kata would have a bloody fit. And considering how Anto and Oli were being over-protective with her, it would undoubtedly lead to…
It would make it worse if Bill and Charlie were pulled into this. They’d immediately argue that the best method to help Amy get through this Full Moon was for them to journey down to Hogwarts, and somehow see her.
And that wasn’t possible.
They wouldn’t be able to get the time to give her what they needed.
How in Merlin’s name could Bill and Charlie? If they did travel to Hogwarts, they would be swamped by the other Young Ones. They wouldn’t be allowed to have any time to themselves to seek her out and…
And Bill couldn’t risk the long Apparition. And the amount of time it would take.
Just like her, he had the Full Moon looming.
His body was giving him Hell and to put himself through worse just because…
Amy swallowed.
She couldn’t do that to him.
And Charlie needed to be there for Bill during his Full Moon.
-Please Amy- said Anto’s voice, shattering through the –hurt- she was already under and causing her to fall to her knees.
Her body slumped to the ground, her body half resting onto the wall.
She was a bloody mess.
And she knew it.
-Please Amy- Anto whispered, a softer touch onto her mind –I know you are in pain but I need to speak to you-
Taking a deep breath, Amy allowed her body to curl up on itself, her legs tucked underneath her as she seeked some kind of respite against the wall.
Damn.
Had to answer.
Was the Alpha Female and Anto…
With another attempt to bring in as much oxygen into her body as possible, Amy tentatively allowed Anto full access to her mind as she fought to coordinate some kind of response.
Just because Anto was in a bit of a tizzy over whatever was bothering him, didn’t mean that he wouldn’t take note of exactly what kind of physical and mental well-being Amy was in. And let Bill and Charlie know.
-Anto- Amy said.
Hell, she should be better at this. How many Full Moons had she gone through before and yet one bad one and she was a trembling mess?
-I’m really sorry about this, Ami- said Anto –but I can’t keep this from you. You need to know this-
Damn.
Even worse.
She –had- to know.
-Go ahead, Anto- Amy whispered –I’m listening-
Another pause.
-Remus has…left- said Anto.
Amy could feel her body fight to show her astonishment. And it would have, if it wasn’t already completely caught up with trying to not knot itself into a destroyed pretzel.
Damn this stupid Full Moon.
-Anto- Amy said softly –of course he has. The Full Moon is only…-
She paused to choke in another deep breath of air.
Her throat attempted to close on her. To make it all in vain as…
Hell, her body wouldn’t cooperate today with her.
-…Two days away- Amy finally managed to add –So it stands to reason that Remus will have left Hogwarts by now-
-I know- said Anto –I know. That would be completely usual, but…-
Amy could feel her body react again. But this time not due to her own physical well-being, but because…
What –kind- of conversation was this going to turn to? She knew that it was heated (Anto had all but announced it from the very beginning), but this…
This was going to be even worse.
-But?- said Amy.
A very large intake of breath on Anto’s part.
-But he didn’t leave because of the Full Moon- Anto said quietly.
What?
Of course Remus did. It was too close to the Full Moon and as he always spent the time surrounded by The Marauders at The Hearth…
He wouldn’t have left Hogwarts for any other reason. The Marauders wouldn’t –interest- themselves in anything that they would have to deal with immediately (the Full Moon Rule), and so…
Anto must be mistaken.
-The Pack would not allow anything to –interfere- with Moony and the Full Moon- said Amy –They wouldn’t-!-
-They didn’t do it willingly, Amy- said Anto –They had to-
And despite her pain, Amy could feel her lip curl.
No one could –force- a Marauder to do anything.
No one.
And yet…
-Who made them?- she growled.
Who had stepped over That Line (one that had been carefully drawn many years ago during Back Then by Remus Lupin and Amy Black)?
Who!
-Amy, I- said Anto before his voice seemed to fail him and he…stuttered.
But all Amy could think was…
-Who!- snarled Amy.
