Chapter 5 - An Unwelcome Visitor
Soft lips pressed against Harry’s chest and Harry groaned at the soft touch. He ran his hand through the soft strands of hair presented to him and gripped them tightly. A moan was the response to his rough treatment. Harry grinned and pulled the hair upwards to bring the lips to his own.
The pale lips opened his easily, their tongues playing, and twisting around each other. Another soft moan was released when Harry sucked in the other tongue. He reached down to grab the smooth pert buttock and used it to push the other forward, pressing their bodies together. They both let out a deep groan that vibrated around the room.
Harry looked into silver eyes that were shining with arousal. “Draco …”
A chuckle answered him. “Harry …”
Harry wasn’t surprised when he awoke alone on the couch. Ginny had told him that she didn’t want to sleep with him the previous night, and Harry acquiesced to her request with no complaint. He understood the reason why and really couldn’t blame her. Besides, it wasn’t the first time he was banned from their bed, and Harry was beginning to contemplate staying on the comfortable couch permanently.
Stretching out the kinks in his body, Harry rose from the couch with a giant yawn. Today they were going to take James to platform nine-and-three-quarters and Harry knew he would need his energy to take his family to King’s Cross.
Harry padded softly across the floor of his home as he began his daily routine of waking his children. When he arrived at Leo’s room, the boy was, as usual, already ready, and he gave his father a soft smile as he entered the room.
Just like his father’s.
Memories of the blond began to fill his head as he thought about the times that Draco had rewarded him with a smile. Harry began to smile himself, but didn’t realize it until Leo mentioned it.
“What are you smiling about?”
Harry shook his head. “Nothing. How about we head to breakfast?” Harry turned towards the door and led Leo to the kitchen. His memories of Draco were something he treasured and liked to keep to himself. Harry knew that Draco didn’t often show the side Harry saw when they were together to others, and Harry intended on doing the same. It was a little selfish of him, but he didn’t care.
“Do you have everything ready?” Ginny asked James as Harry and Leo sat down at the table. James nodded and proceeded to gobble down his food. James ate fast normally, but when he was nervous it was worse.
“Do you have your wand?”
James once again nodded and brought up the slender piece of wood to show to his mother. Harry thought the wand was beautiful, made out of yew and eleven inches. Harry had watched with great joy and nostalgia as James was fitted for his wand. The memories of when he had first gotten his own wand were filled with recognition, that yes, he really was a wizard.
“Good. I don’t want anything to go wrong on your first day of Hogwarts.” Ginny smiled softly near the end of the sentence and she leaned over to caress James’ cheek. “Oh, my son is growing up!”
“Mum! I’m not a baby!” James whined as he tried to control his blush.
“No. Not anymore.” Ginny continued to caress James’ cheek as he sat still and let her be sentimental before they were in the public’s eye.
“How are we getting to platform nine-and-three-quarters?” Leo asked.
“The Ministry has provided us with a car for transportation.” Harry let a bit of sarcasm seep into his voice near the end.
Leo raised an eyebrow at the statement, but refrained from saying anything. Harry was glad. He didn't think he would have to explain the fact that the only reason they were getting the car was because Harry Potter's first son was heading to Hogwarts, and they wanted everything to run smoothly for his family. Harry thought it was a bit ridiculous how people were still not over the fact that he was a hero, but who was he to stop the inevitable reaction of saving the entire British Wizarding world?
After everyone finished their meal, there was a flurry of activity as James tried to pack some last minute items into his trunk while Ginny hurried him along. James had a bit of a problem as he tried to put his owl, Athena, into her cage. She was normally always free, never locked in her cage as James had a small perch for her in his room. When they tried to coax her into the cage, she flew away quickly, and eventually Harry had to use the Levitation spell to float her into the cage with Albus sealing it shut.
It got worse once they got into the car, with Athena squawking loudly in the back seat with the children. Nothing James said to console her worked and it was Ginny who silenced the bird with a quick flick of her wand. Harry grinned as he noticed Leo mumbling in the back seat with a murderous glare directed towards the window. He was sure that Leo was thinking of ways to put the bird out of its misery, because he read some questionable curses falling from the boy’s lips.
Walking past the platforms in King's Cross was no easy ordeal, as there seem to be crowds of Muggles all around. Many of them gave strange stares to Athena as usual and Harry ignored them, leading his family to platforms nine and ten. Their system was for everyone to step through the barrier one by one as inconspicuous as possible. Harry was the last one to go through, slipping into the barrier by leaning against it.
Ginny and James hurriedly put away his trunk and Athena in the luggage compartment of the train and joined the small family in a huddle. Ginny hugged James to her chest and kissed the top of his head as Albus nudged Leo and pointed towards the train.
“Do you think its run by magic or a conductor?”
“It has to be run by magic. Hogwarts is a magical place so everything associated with it has to be, right?” Leo said, looking up at Harry for an answer.
“I'm not quite sure, but I bet Hermione knows.” Harry pointed his chin at the Weasley family walking towards them. He noticed the look that Ron gave Leo, but didn't comment on it. As long as he didn't try anything towards Leo, Harry was content to be civilized with his best friend. “Hello, Ron, Hermione.” Harry smiled down at their children. “Are you ready for your first day of school, Rose?”
The girl nodded, a big smile on her face. James rolled his eyes at her enthusiasm, pretending to not be excited as well. “It's school. Why would anyone want to be ready for it?”
“Hogwarts is a wonderful place where you can learn to be a wizard and meet future friends, James,” Hermione said wistfully. “Anyone allowed to go should be very grateful for such an opportunity. Your parents met here, and their parents, and their parents' parents.” Hermione smiled softly.
“Don't try to pretend that you aren't excited too!” Albus grinned. “You wouldn't shut up about how nervous you were last night!”
“Shut up!”
Everyone laughed at James' embarrassment. They spoke for a while, telling their children stories from their own Hogwarts days. When Ron tried to bring up Malfoy, Harry gave him a look that made the redhead stop his train of thought and start to speak instead about the first time Harry caught the Snitch, with his mouth.
When the train signaled the moment for everyone to board the train, Harry and Ron helped Rose and James jump onto the train after all the hugs and kisses given to them by their mothers.
“Bye, Lily! Bye, Albus! See you during break!” James yelled one final time as the Hogwarts Express made a turn, disappearing from view.
“I hope he does all right,” Ginny said with a sigh.
“Don't worry.” Harry placed a hand on Ginny's shoulder. “He's just like his mother. He'll be just fine. McGonagall won't let anything happen to her students.”
Ginny nodded, leaning against Harry's frame. They stood there for a moment until all the other parents started Apparating away. Harry called for the rest of his children and they all made their way back towards the car. The ride home was silent but comfortable with everyone in their own thoughts. Harry thought that the day was fairly good, with no confrontations unlike the last time that they had all met.
A very good day, indeed.
~*~*~*~
Two weeks had passed since James left for Hogwarts. Harry had received many letters from his eldest son, who informed him of possibly every little thing that had happened during James' first few weeks. At times, Harry would feel resentment towards James for the very fact that he had a father to write to while when he was attending Hogwarts; he himself had had no one besides Ron and Hermione. It wasn't until after his third year that Harry had an adult to write to. Finding out that Sirius was his godfather filled the hole in his heart that was left for his parents. Harry finally had someone to write to and about all his problems. He finally had an adult to speak to and not one that only cared because he was the Harry Potter. Yes, Mr. and Mrs. Weasley were always supporting him, but they were Ron's parents, and their own child came first. Harry didn't brood too much on his resentment and instead happily wrote back to his son; he was happy that his son was having a good time at school.
Ginny had allowed him back into the bed the day after James left, but had been giving him the silent treatment. Harry noticed that she would sometimes stare at Leo as if she couldn't believe that he existed. There was no way that Harry could deny Leo to be his son, what with the boy having the same eye color and untidy hair, both of which were obviously trademarks of Harry’s. Harry was proud of Leo for not losing his composure under the intense stares that Ginny would give him and instead ignored them.
Albus, Lily, and Leo became very close over Leo's stay and Harry would sometimes see the boys walking to the Quidditch pitch with Lily following, dragging her teddy bear behind. Harry watched them play along with Lily and once had actually joined in a game. Age had yet to catch up with him as Harry did the Wronski Feint for the kids without injuring himself. Ginny would sometimes come out to play for a bit, but she was too busy training with the Harpies to ever have time to play a small game.
Harry hadn't expected any visitors; Ginny had gone out with Lily to go shopping and the boys were playing their daily Quidditch game, so when he heard a knock at the door he was a bit confused as to whom it might be.
Shock ran through Harry's body as he opened the door and took noticed of the new visitor. Blond hair was falling over silver eyes that were full of amusement as their owner smiled softly at Harry’s expression.
“Hello, Harry.”
Harry let go of the breath that he didn’t realize he was holding. Draco. Draco Malfoy was standing on his doorstep. Harry never thought that he would see him again, and yet here he was. Draco tilted his head a bit and leaned on the cane at his side.
“Planning on letting me in?”
Harry quickly moved out of the way and opened the door wider to let Draco through. As the blond passed by him, he could smell a faint trace of cinnamon waft to his nose and his senses were on fire. Draco smelled delicious, and Harry’s body remembered the scent clearly and recognized its owner with great interest. Harry tried to relax, but memory upon memory bombarded him as he continued to stare at Draco, his emerald eyes darkening.
“I had planned on writing a letter, but I thought it best to tell you everything in person.” Draco turned around and faced Harry, his small smile never wavering from his face.
“What was it that you wanted to tell me?” Harry finally found his voice.
“Well, I’m sure you would like me to explain the reasons and how Leo came to be.”
Harry nodded. “What about your condition? What’s wrong?”
“I’ll speak about that as well, but first I would like some tea.”
Harry nodded and led the way towards the kitchen. Draco followed him silently and made his way to a chair at the table. When the sound of a cane hitting the floor reached Harry’s ears, he quickly spun around to see Draco falling towards the floor. Harry hastily went to Draco, catching the blond easily in his arms and cradling the lean body against his chest softly.
“You all right?” Harry looked worriedly down at Draco’s face, making sure that everything was okay.
“I-I just fainted for a moment. I’m fine, Harry.” Silver eyes locked with emerald and stayed looking at each other. It seemed that they couldn’t resist the slight pull that brought their lips together and they both gasped with shock. It had been a long time since their lips had pressed together and it felt amazing. Harry groaned when he heard Draco let out a small whimper and licked Draco’s bottom lip. Draco let Harry slip his tongue into his mouth and they both moaned at the sensation of feeling the other’s tongue sliding against their own.
Draco lifted his arms to wrap around Harry’s neck as Harry tightened his hold on Draco. Harry’s senses were quickly overcoming him as he began to kiss Draco a bit more forcefully and slipped his hand under Draco’s shirt. Harry pulled back from Draco’s lips when the need for air became urgent, but it didn’t stop him from kissing along the pale jaw and neck that was presented towards him.
“Harry … We need to–“
Draco let out a deep moan when Harry bit down on his collarbone. Harry knew Draco liked whenever he bit him as it always brought the most erotic noises from the blond.
“Harry, pl-please. I need to t-tell you about–ah–Leo…”
Harry contemplated stopping so that he could figure out the mystery of Leo’s existence, but Draco’s skin tasted so good. After a moment of sucking and biting, Harry let go of Draco’s neck, grinning at the wet mark that was left in his wake. He could practically feel Draco’s erection and it reminded him of his own pressing into his jeans tightly. Normally, Harry would have ignored Draco’s request and just continued, but they weren’t under normal circumstances, so with one last kiss to the already bruised pale pink lips, Harry settled Draco down into the chair and went towards the stove to prepare their tea.
“Remember the way I like it?” Draco grinned at Harry, who responded with a grin of his own.
“Milk and three cubes of sugar; I remember, Draco.” Harry walked towards the table and placed Draco’s cup before him as he sat down across the table.
They sat for a while, staring into their individual cups of tea as they let the silence draw out. Harry looked up at one point and watched Draco trace the rim of the cup. Harry let out a deep sigh. Draco raised his head at the noise and Harry smiled at him. As if the smile was his cue, Draco began to speak.
“To explain why Leo exists, I have to explain a bit of Malfoy history.” Draco took a deep breath and let it out slowly. “When some of the pureblood families began to gain more power over others, the Malfoys decided that having a lot of heirs spread about would give them even more power over the other families and even across countries.
“It worked out for the best for a while, until some of the male and female heirs began expressing their taste for the same gender. Now, some were furious that there were homosexuals in the family, but the more rational and power-hungry side decided that this little bump would not stop them in their road to power. So they created a spell or, as some might say, a curse on all the members of the family. Anyone who was to be homosexual shall still give birth and produce an heir to the Malfoy family. This meant men were able to carry children and women were able to impregnate. Also, men could impregnate other men and women could be impregnated by other women."
Harry’s eyes were opened in shock. He didn’t know whether to be angered by the selfish act that Draco’s ancestors had inflicted on their heirs or to be thankful for the child he was given from the curse. However, he couldn’t think more on the subject as Draco had begun to speak once again.
“Leo wasn’t planned. I hadn’t known about the curse until after I was pregnant with him; I would have been more careful if I had. After we had … parted ways, I had been feeling a bit ill for a couple of weeks. My mother brought me to the family physician and it was then that the ‘good news’ was given to me. I was shocked, and Mother had fainted.” Draco smiled a bit. “The doctor had explained that Leo was conceived four weeks prior to the visit. That was the last day that we had sex.”
Draco, Harry realized, wasn’t looking at him. The blond had decided that the grooves etched into the table were a lot more fascinating than Harry’s face. Harry couldn’t blame him. Their last night together was, put simply, amazing. Harry could remember taking Draco slowly and how the blond had completely surrendered to him, more than Draco normally did. Draco had felt so good and the moment was one of Harry’s clearest memories of the time together. If he hadn’t known better, he would have said that their last time together almost felt as if they were making love.
Harry shook his head from the last thought. Instead of dwelling on his confused feelings towards Draco Malfoy, Harry decided to ask the one question that had been nagging him for a while.
“Why didn’t you tell me sooner?”
Draco let out a deep sigh that made his body slump a little in defeat. “It’s not like I hadn’t thought of it. It just always seemed as if there was never a good time. I knew I couldn’t deliver the news by owl because I thought this was something I should tell you personally, but by the time I finally got the nerve to tell you, the Daily Prophet sent out a newspaper with an article about how you and the Weasley girl were going to have a baby. At the time, it was best not to tell you.”
“You still should’ve told me.” Harry reached forward to grab Draco’s hand, giving it a little squeeze. “Why did you wait until you weren’t fit to take care of him yourself that you decided to tell me? And you also haven’t told me why you are sick.”
“I’m not sick … just weak, I suppose.” Draco raised his silver eyes to look at Harry. “It’s simple really. Men weren’t supposed to give birth so it’s a strain on my health and magic. My magic is trying to heal my body but the process takes a long time for most cases and so it leaves me weak.”
“Draco … I’m so sorry.”
Draco raised an eyebrow at Harry. If Harry had learned anything during their time together, one thing was when one of those fine blond eyebrows were raised it meant Draco was annoyed which also meant trouble.
“For what, Potter? For getting me pregnant and having the most amazing child? Everything isn’t your fault and there is nothing for you to be sorry about. We didn’t know this would happen, but I don’t regret it for a second!” Draco had raised his voice near the end and was breathing deeply. Harry moved from his chair and bent down in front of Draco, placing his hands in Draco’s.
“I understand that, Draco, but I can’t help but feel responsible for what you are going through right now. If I hadn’t gotten you preggers, than you wouldn’t be weak and yes, from what I can gather, Leo is an amazing child. It’s just that I hate to have the ones I care for suffer.”
Draco didn’t look at Harry for a moment, but now he was staring straight at him. Harry let Draco move his hand from his grip and place it upon his cheek.
“A bloody Gryffindor ‘til the end.” Draco smiled and leaned in closer, brushing his lips against Harry’s. Harry pressed his a bit harder wanting to feel more of Draco’s lips again.
“Harry!”
The two men froze at the sound of the woman’s voice. Harry pulled back with wide eyes to look at his wife staring at him with the groceries in her arms and Lily standing behind her leg. Draco had lowered his head and placed it upon Harry’s shoulder. Harry couldn’t find it in him to move the blond’s head so Ginny wouldn’t be annoyed at the gesture.
“What are you doing?”
Harry couldn’t speak. His throat felt constricted and he was beginning to breathe a little faster. Ginny had caught them kissing in the kitchen, and, as if the situation couldn’t get worse, his daughter was staring at him with confused eyes.
“I, uh, was serving Draco tea.” Shite, thought Harry. He had never called Draco by his first name to anyone else and he could tell that Ginny was shocked.
“Did you just call Malfoy, ‘Draco’?” Ginny stepped forward and dropped the bag of groceries onto the table. “Harry. You’d best start explaining why I come into my home to find you snogging with ferret-face.”
Harry's eyes began to narrow at the nickname. Had he not spend the majority of marriage requesting his wife and her family to let go of the silly feud towards the Malfoys? The Malfoys had not even spoken to the Weasleys since the war, and yet the Weasleys continued the estrangement between the families. When Harry was about to remind Ginny of this fact, Draco stood up from his chair and turned to look at the angry redheaded woman.
“I find it quite offending to be called such a name when I haven’t made any comment on you being a weasel.” Ginny began to narrow her eyes at the name and was about to retort when Draco continued speaking. “And if you must know, I was simply explaining to Harry about Leo.”
“I don’t see any reason for your tongue to be down my husband’s throat--“
“Actually, it was his tongue down my throat.” Harry could see Draco’s smirk upon his face and groaned. Just what he needed, a teasing Malfoy. Harry noticed that Ginny was slowly turning red. Oh dear …
“Listen here, Malfoy. I don’t know what you did to Harry, but he’s married and he would never cheat on me with someone like you. So tell me the spell that you have on him and take your child and leave this place.”
Harry was shocked. Did Ginny really believe that Harry was under a spell by Malfoy? Did she not believe him? Or trust his words?
Draco raised an elegant eyebrow and placed his other hand, the one that wasn’t holding the back of a chair to balance himself, on his hip. “You really think that someone like me could simply place a love spell on the ‘Great Harry Potter’ himself? You silly girl.” Draco’s smirk grew. “Just accept the fact that Harry and I had sex, dated and now have a child together.”
Harry stood and placed his hand on Draco’s elbow. “Draco, stop it.” Draco gave Harry one look before nodding and looking away from Ginny who was staring at Harry. Her eyes were beginning to fill with tears.
“You-you really cheated on me …”
“Ginny, I told you. It was during the break.”
“You were still married to me! We had James! It was a break, not a break up, which means you don’t get with someone else!”
Harry remained silent. Ginny’s yells had attracted the boys who had just finished their game. Lily was now standing with Leo and Albus, scared and beginning to tear up. She had always hated it whenever Harry and Ginny fought, and it broke Harry’s heart to see his daughter that way. He noticed how Leo was staring happily at Draco and was making small movements towards his father, but didn’t dare come closer because of the argument.
“I can’t believe you, Harry!” Ginny continued. “I can’t believe you had an ungrateful bastard of a son--“
SLAP!
Harry stared as he watched Ginny’s cheek turn red in the impression of Draco’s hand. Ginny still had her head turned into the direction of the force of the assault and Harry could see the surprised expression on her face. Draco was standing before her, breathing heavily.
“How dare you insult my son. Any decent adult would never insult a child.” Draco spoke the words softly, but with a hint of anger interlaced between them, but his intimidating stance was broken when his knees started to buckle in exhaustion.
Harry stepped forward quickly before Draco could fall and lifted the blond up into his arms. He didn’t make any eye contact towards Ginny, but he did speak to her. “You can be mad at me all you want, but if I ever hear you say something towards my son again, I will turn my back on you.” Harry started walking towards the hallway that led to the bedrooms, Leo following close behind.
Albus and Lily stood staring at their hurt mother for one more moment, before also leaving the kitchen and following their father. They didn’t know what was going on, but they did know that their mum had said a bad thing and the blond man that their dad was carrying was upset.
Ginny stood in the kitchen alone, silently looking at the floor with her head bowed.
To be continued
A/N: The reason that Draco is ooc, is for the very fact that Harry and he have already gotten past their barriers towards each other and Draco knows Harry won't make fun of him for his weakness. Draco's weakness also doesn't give him that much to act like a perfect Malfoy as you can see from the way he dealt with Ginny. It zaps his energy to keep up a mask at all times, but that doesn't stop him from doing it at times. Please review!
