Chapter 5
Hermione stood in the kitchen waiting for the boys to follow her inside. They were talking quietly again as they walked in. Draco looked at her quickly before moving into the next room. It seemed he didn't want to ask any more questions about her memory. Did he remember the time she was talking about? Maybe he didn't want to push her or make her feel uncomfortable. She didn't know and was getting tired of over-thinking everything.
“I'm going to make a cup of tea.” Harry said. “Do you guys want one?”
He began opening cupboards, pulling out teabags and sugar. At least he knew where everything was.
“I'll have a coffee, thanks.” Draco said, beginning to climb to stairs.
“Yeah I'll have a tea, please.” Said Hermione. “What kind do you – I mean, we – have?”
Draco continued up the stairs. It was still so awkward between them. She was having a hard enough time herself. She couldn't imagine what he was going through.
“Ah, let's see...” Harry said gazing across the labels. “Green, Chamomile, Earl Grey, Peppermint-”
“Peppermint, please.” Hermione said quickly.
Of course she would have every kind of tea under the sun, she thought smiling to herself. She wondered briefly what kind of tea Draco preferred.
She climbed the stairs quickly. Hermione and Draco stood on the landing alone together. She dared herself to look into his eyes and found he was looking into hers. She smiled and he returned one sweetly. He looked down at his shoes, his hands in his pockets.
“Do you remember anything else?” He asked, looking back up at her. “Any details?”
So he couldn't help but ask. She couldn't blame him. She would be worse if she were in his shoes. She took a deep breath and nodded.
“We were sitting there, holding hands. We...” She folded her her arms across her arms. “We kissed and watched the sun go down. It was sweet... romantic.”
She glanced up to his face and he looked at her the way he had in her memory. Purely full of love.
He drew his hands out from his pockets and walked to the first door, pushing it open. She followed him inside. This room was a study or an office. There were two desks, one on each side of the room, facing each other. She assumed they had one each for when they didn't have to go into work. On the opposite side of the room was a large window, letting the room fill with light.
There were bookshelves behind their desks. They too were full which brought a small smile to her face.
“What?” Draco asked, seeing her smile.
“We have a lot of books.” She explained, the smile still on her face. “Doesn't surprise me in the least.”
He chuckled.
“They're mostly yours.” He said, smirking. “Mine are all on the shelf behind my desk. The rest on the bookshelf behind your desk and in the sitting room, are yours.”
She looked at him. She was taken a back a little at the intense way he was looking at her. His smirk made him look devilish, in a sexy kind of way. She felt butterflies flutter in her tummy. She looked away to the door and headed out.
He lead her to the next door and paused outside.
“This is our bedroom.” He said. “I'll wait out here for you.”
He opened the door for her and she walked inside. This room was huge. Easily the size of the two guest rooms put together. There was an enormous four poster bed in the middle. The bedroom was decorated in beautiful yellow and white tones. It was so light and welcoming. There were two white dressers on either side of the room.
The carpet was cream and fluffy. There was a large fireplace in one corner with a white rug and a basket of logs and kindling in front of it. There were windows on either side of the bed with pale yellow curtains hanging from each side. Then she noticed that there were two doors on either side of the room. She went to the left first and opened the door slowly, the light automatically coming on.
“Oh my god!” She gasped.
She stepped into her walk in robe and looked around. It was massive! There were so many clothes and half of one of the walls was dedicated entirely to shoes. Both hers and Draco's. This was incredible. She was never one of those girly types, but she did enjoy shopping for clothes and shoes. It was organised neatly into formal wear, work wear and casual. She smiled, seeing one of her old jumpers. She felt like she had only wore it weeks ago.
She walked out and crossed to the other door. She opened it to find a huge bathroom. There were beautiful painted blue and white tiles, giving the bathroom a Greek feel. The bath tub was both wide and deep. She looked forward to soaking in there soon. She looked at the shower. Again, it was enormous. Could easily fit two people in there. She blushed and laughed at herself. That was probably what they had in mind when it was built.
She looked into their vanity mirror. She looked worn out. She traced the bags under her eyes and sighed. She would feel, and hopefully look, much better after her bath. She walked out and back into the hallway. She suddenly felt the urge to give Draco a hug. She held back and tried to analyse the feeling. He looked at her curiously.
“Everything okay?” He asked, touching her arm gently.
She nodded and walked side by side with him down the hall.
“I'm just getting some feelings.” Hermione said, unsure of how to word it. “They are unfamiliar, but somehow familiar. Like I feel this way, but I don't remember feeling it. I know it probably doesn't make any sense.”
He smiled at her and let her go down the stairs first.
“Not really, but it's something.” He said.
Harry had their cups on the bench in front of him. Hermione took up the cup right away and closed her eyes, enhaling the peppermint scent. She took a sip and felt the warm liquid warm up her body. When she opened her eyes, Harry looked at her.
“How are you feeling, Mione?” He asked, sipping his tea.
She sighed and then smiled.
“Not too bad. Tired... a little over whelmed, but I'm okay.” She said.
She looked over to Draco and watched him drink his coffee. He was leaning back against the counter. He was wearing a pale blue dress shirt and black pants. He was gorgeous, there was no other way she could describe him. She noticed this a little at Hogwarts, but his attitude and the way he treated her had always over powered any kind of friendly feelings towards him.
“I think I might take this up to the bedroom, if that's okay?” She asked him. “I'm dying for a bath.”
He nodded.
“It's your house too.” He said, giving her another smile.
She smiled back at him. She didn't feel as terrified as she did when she first arrived. She actually enjoyed watching Draco smile. And she suddenly realised she was thinking of him now as Draco. Not Malfoy. She started up the stairs.
“If you need anything, just yell out, yeah?” Draco called.
She looked down at him.
“I will.” She said, smiling at him. “Thank you, Draco.”
“I'm going to make a cup of tea.” Harry said. “Do you guys want one?”
