How I See the World

By the time Ron and Harry completed the process of waking up and going downstairs to retrieve breakfast. Echo and Draco had already completed theirs and were quitely conversing.

"You think they're going to try and kick me out?" Draco asks not actually surprised.

"Yes, it's engrained in their nature not to like you for past deeds, done by both yourself and your father. You'll have to work with me and not against me, it will take a lot to convince the others to let you stay, Sirius was the easy one."

Echo grabs a few articles of clothing out of her drawers and goes to the bathroom to change.

"How do you not run into things if you can't see?" Draco asks perplexed by Echo's grace and ability to avoid obstacles.

"I use my telepathy the same way bats use their voice to see things in the dark. I send out a mental 'signal' and it gives me a view of the world. I 'see' the world, but in snap shots. I use these snap shots every half a second, or when I go out into the world where I need it to be faster than that, I take an animal, normally a snake and use their eyesight as my own. They lay on my shoulder and they're kind of like a seeing eye dog."

"I can't imagine what your world is like."

"I could show you," Echo exits the bathroom in fresh clothes, a knee length gauzy dress and jacket.

"How?"

"Like this..."

Draco saw Echo close her eyes and then his sight went away.

"What did you do? I can't see!"

"Don't move... I'm going to show you what I see..."

Then Draco saw a pulse of light, white, that outlined the things he saw. He could see himself sitting on the bed, but there was no color, just white. Suddenly his sight returned and Echo retreated from his mind.

"That's how I see the world..."

"I wish you could see the color, you'd love it... Do you miss not being able to see?" Draco asks.

"How can I miss something I can not remember?" Echo looks sad as the words leave her lips, "Shall we go downstairs? I think we've delayed this long enough."
