To Devour The Soul

A/N: I’m such a horrible little author!! I took so long to get this one out but it’s not my fault, my sis who some of you might know as electricme, or slyfxo recently put her unfinished story up for adoption and after that fell through she gave it to me to play with so that kind of took over my muse for a while. I will not be posting that story until this one is done so have no fear, but keep a look out for the newly rewritten “Something New.” Also I was going to reveal what Harry’s being is in this chapter but I am going to be mean and make you wait ;3 sorry guys!

Oh there is a part where the dialogue is in [ ] let’s just call this Harry’s inner being guiding him.

When the duo pulled into Jacob's driveway a rust colored Mini Cooper was parked in front of the house.

"Who the hell is that?" Jacob growled out as he roughly parked the rabbit.

"That would be mine love." Jaden smiled and bounced over to the little compact car.

They walked over to the car and peeked into the window Jacob looked over at Jaden and realized he had no idea who this boy was, he needed to know more about this boy. Jaden caught his look and smiled softly. "Come on let's go see if the rest of my things made it over."

Jacob frowned. "Can you even drive babe?"

Jaden paused thinking about it for a minute he found Dumbles had taken the time to implant the ability to drive along with the years of schooling. 'Thanks old man.'

"Of course love now come on let's see everything else."

When they pushed open the door to the house they immediately heard music and howling. Silently the boys crept into the living room where Leah was singing and dancing along to a music video while she cleaned the windows. Jaden eyes fell on the girls toned legs, and wide hips. The little tank top she wore was tight enough that he could see her stomach was rippled with muscles, her soccer shorts barely covered he shapely bottom. Jaden blinked, 'Yep definitely still into girls.' Jacob snapped Jaden out of his trance when he started giggling.

Leah turned around mid howl and glared at the boy "What are you laughing at brat?"

Jacob smiled "She wolf?"

Jaden watched as the two friends shared an inside joke. He felt a pang of loss remembering how he, Ron, and Hermione had shared that same look so many times together. 'Merlin I miss them.' Shaking off the bout of homesickness Jaden smiled at Leah.

"What are you doing poppet?"

"Cleaning up this pig pin while Billy and Charlie are out fishing, Jade you had some things delivered today I know you saw the car already, the rest of your things are up in your room."

Jaden raised a brow "Who put them up there?"

Leah smiled "I did."

Jaden slowly made his way up to his room lost in thought. It had taken both Charlie and Bill to lift one of his trunks and there were at least four upstairs. Leah claimed to have lifted them all by herself all the way up the stairs and down the hall. Jaden swore under his breath, Leah was strong as hell. 'What the hell is going on around here?'

In his room there were four large red and gold trunks that looked just like his Hogwarts trunk, stacked around the room. From behind him Jaden heard Jacob let out a whistle "Wow, need some help here?"

Looking back at the taller boy, Jaden pointed to a trunk at the far end of his room. "You start with that one and I will start over here, just put the clothes on the bed."

The first trunk was filled with clothes and pictures. Dumbles had packed all of his pictures of his friends and family, of course they would not move until Jaden performed the charm needed to animate them. The painting at the bottom of the trunk made Jaden smile, it was a shrunken down version of the painting that stood in The Burrow. It was of him, Ron, Hermione, and Ginny sitting in the Gryffindor common room. Ron and Hermione were sitting on the couch, Ginny in an armchair off to the right and Jaden was positioned of the floor sprawled out smiling at the other three teenagers.

The painting was based on the picture that had been taken by Colin the last day of sixth year, Jaden still could not remember what they had been laughing about but Dumbles had loved the picture enough to have it made into a painting.

"What the hell is this thing?"

Looking over at Jacob, Jaden smiled he had found his meditation tools. Inside the large black case were three balls, one a clear crystal ball, one an aquamarine colored ball, and a ball that looked like pure metal. "I use those to meditate, it's good for stress, and help me control my temper."

Jacob blinked then shrugged and put the case on the floor "Right, I'll just leave you to your hocus pocus."

Jaden pursed his lips 'You have no idea Jake.'

Once they emptied out the trunks there were still two boxes. Sitting down on the bed Jaden ripped into the first box while Jacob stretched out with a tired groan.

"Man you have a lot of clothes, and they all still have the tags on them, how much do you shop?"

"Well I had to wear my cousin's old clothes when I was young because my aunt and uncle didn't deem me worthy of new clothes, so when I got a chance I bought a whole new wardrobe."

Jacob had an odd look on his face "I'm sorry I didn't mean to bring up bad memories, I figured you came from a rich family with the new car and private school."

"I have money now because of the inheritance my parents and godfather left me but my aunt and uncle were just your average middle class people."

Finally cracking open the box Jaden pulled out a new cell phone. Jacob perked up when he saw the phone. "Nice phone green eyes, now we can text each other while we are at school."

Jaden shook his head at Jacobs's excitement, the other box had a small jewelry box inside with a note from Dumbles that simply said 'Control, my boy, does not always come from the obvious wear these and be safe.'

Slipping the bangles on his right wrist he pulled off the charm bracelet he normally wore and watched his shrunken wand crack open. The feather from the core fell onto the silver ruin cover bangles and became a little feather charm. 'That sneaky bastard! So the bracelets will serve as my wand now, interesting."

Jacob had missed the whole thing, playing with Jaden's new phone. Getting back to the task at hand, Jaden got back to putting away the remainder of his belongings. The last thing he had to do was hang the painting; Jacob finally put the phone down and took notice of the picture.

"Who are they?" Jacob came around to get a better look.

Jaden could not fight the found smile that spread across his face "They are my best friends Ron, Hermione and Ginny."

Jaden did not know if the look on the other boys face was a good or bad sign "So they go to school with you too."

With a nod Jaden moved over toward the window his eyes wondering over the dense woods surrounding the house.

Jacob glanced over and smiled "Come on Leah should be done cleaning by now; you get to meet Emily Sam's fiancé tonight, we are having dinner over at her and Sam's house."

Getting up the two meet up with Leah downstairs she was leaning against the sink dangling Jaden's keys from her finger. With a smirk that reminded him of the Malfoy's Leah spoke "These are your keys Jade, show me a license and we can get out of here."

Narrowing his eyes at the devious girl, Jaden pulled out his wallet and thank Merlin that Dumbledore was a clever old codger. Flashing her his valid driver's license, Jaden snatched the keys from her hand and dashed to the door dragging Jacob behind him. The car was small but it was a nice fit for the two, even with Jacob's height and weight.

"You sure you can drive this thing?" Jacob looked slightly grey

"Of course love, just point the way."

Quickly snapping his seatbelt on Jacob pointed to a little red car across the yard. "Just follow Leah."

The drive over was short and uneventful, Jacob of course didn't relax until Jaden parked in front of the house. Jaden swallowed the giggle that bubbled up when he saw Jacob struggling to get free of the car. His amusement must have shown because Jacob sent him an irritated look. Smiling sweetly he clung to the smooth hand and they followed Leah into the modest house. Jacob leaned down and rasped out a quick warning not to stare. Confused he looked around trying to figure out what he would find so shocking.

Sam spotted them and quickly made his way over. "Welcome Jaden it's good to see you again so soon. I would like you to meet my fiancée Emily… Emily this is Jaden."

Jaden looked at the small woman behind Sam and smiled. Looking at her he could tell she had a pure soul. The scar that marred her beautiful face didn't take away from the loving expression. Smiling Jaden allowed her to pull him in close for a hug as she gushed over him.

"It's so nice to finally meet someone my own size around here! Welcome to the family Jaden."

The room was full of laughter at her excitement. Jaden instantly knew he would be close to her, maybe not as close as he felt he would be with Leah but still she would be a major influence on him while he was here. He made a note to give her some healing salve for her scar, it would not completely disappear but it would soften it so it wasn't as harsh.

"It's nice to meet you too love, you must be the only one around here not on steroids."

Her tinkling laugh only made him like her more. She gave him a mischievous wink and led him to his seat at the table. The shear amount of food on the table made Jaden desperately miss his dinners at The Burrow. Molly always made a ton of food and the warm family atmosphere always made him feel welcome, watching the people around him smiling and laughing brought painful tears to the back of his eyes.

'I have to get out of here.'

Leaning over he pecked Jake on the cheek and excused himself the bathroom. Emily smiled and pointed it out for him; quietly he closed the door behind him and looked for a way out. He spotted a small window above the tub and quickly squirmed through. Once he was out of the window he slowly made his way into the woods surrounding the house. When he was deep enough into the woods that he was sure that he could not be seen, he dropped the barriers on his magic and let it reach out around him.

["What troubles you kitten?"]

["I miss my family mother; I don't think this was a wise choice for me."]

Deep rumbling giggles echoed through his mind. ["Do not fear kitten, this is where you are meant to be. Believe in me I won't led you astray."]

Hot tears streaked down the boys face as he wondered further into the trees. ["How can you be so sure mother? I feel like I don't know who I am anymore, like I'm living in a fantasy world and can't get home."]

["You will find your mate and companion here kitten. Do not dwell on others, right now you must focus on yourself. This is a turning point in your life; this is what will determine your future happiness."]

["It's Jacob isn't it; he is the one you sent me here to meet."]

He could feel the smugness cloud him thoughts and he stumbled on ["I am only here to guide you to true happiness, I cannot tell you the answers. Trust your instincts child what are they telling you?"]

Jaden came to a stop.[ "Jacob belongs to me."]

Satisfied purrs filled his head ["Good kitten, when the time comes you two will have a beautiful family together."]

Jaden had just began to walk again stumbled to the ground.["WHAT?"]

["You heard me know turn around kitten, what lies ahead of you is not what you seek."]

["What do you mean mother?"]

The warm presence of his guide was fading from his mind ["I have to go kitten, be careful my Harry."]

The silence of his mind made Jaden pause, looking around he saw how dark the world around him was he had been walking for at least an hour. Looking around there were no animals around, he could only feel a presence ahead of him. His guides words echoed through his mind 'Turn around kitten…'

Curious Jaden creped forward pushing through the trees Jaden came face to face with Edward Cullen.

"Shit."

Edward stood in front of him shock clear on his face. "What are you doing here?"

Narrowing his eyes, Jaden walked closer to the boy. "I was just out for a walk, what are you doing out here?" Tilting his head to the side Edward said "My home is nearby, are you lost Jaden?"

Jaden felt the weariness creep up his spine 'I need to get out of here.'

Edward was circling him like a hunter would his prey "You are such a mystery to me. I have only known you a day but you have taken over my thoughts." Jaden was slowly backing away from the boy, the hunger in his eyes putting him on edge.

"What do you want from me Edward?" The golden eyed boy hissed and stalked closer "I want to know why you are torturing me. What have I done to be damned by a demon such as you?" Jaden felt the tree pressing into his back as Edward pressed in close, he was trapped.

"Demon? You really think I am here to torment you, to devour your soul?" Edward rubbed his check against Jaden's; breathing in deep he pressed his forehead against the other boys. "One such as I has no soul for you to devour."

Jaden blinked at the confession 'What the hell is he on about?

["He is not what he seems kitten; you need to get away from him."] Jaden fought the urge to roll his eyes.

["How exactly do you expect me to do that?"]

He was met with silence. 'Trust her to leave me when I actually need her.' Edward was staring at him strangely, almost obsessively.

"Where do you go when you do that? It felt like you weren't there, what are you hiding from me?"

Turning away Jaden began to walk back down his original path. "What are you talking about, and stop following me. I don't think Jacob would welcome you in his home and you know it." Edward growled behind him.

"You're not answering my questions."

Jaden shrugged "I don't owe you anything. Besides what would precious Bella say if she knew you were out here following me around like a little lost puppy?"

Edward paused then "She actually likes you, she said she thought you would be a good match for Jacob."

Jaden smiled and glanced back over his shoulder "She is a good match for you Edward, now go home"

Edward nodded "Be safe little one."

Jaden glared ahead of him "I'm not little jackass."

Walking on he felt his guide enter his thoughts again. ["Well that was boring. Couldn't you have done some voodoo on him or something?"]

Jaden did roll his eyes this time ["Voodoo? What is wrong with you? I couldn't curse him because I don't want to give myself away, I need to stay hidden longer than a day mother. Can you make this walk a little shorter please, I get the feeling Jacob will be pissed when I get back."]

He felt the excitement shoot through his guide ["Oh goody! Fireworks at last, of course kitten leave it to mommy."]

Jaden fought down the nausea he felt as the forest rushed past him, when everything settled back down he found himself looking at the back of Sam's house.[ "Home sweet home kitten."]

["Thank you mother."]

Jaden felt the mental kiss to the forehead.["Anytime kitten, now go to your Jacob he is most worried about you."]

["You just want to see me get in trouble."]

Soft giggles soothed his frayed nerves ["Go kitten."]

Taking a deep breath Jaden stepped through the tree line, as soon as he came into full view of the house Jacob was on him. The panic driven boy snatched Jaden clean off the ground."Put me down love, I'm fine."

Jacob stiffened in his arms "What the hell is that smell? You're making my nose burns." Glaring at the boy Jaden's blood ran cold at his guide's amused giggles running through his mind.

Blinking at the other boy Jaden answered. "Well I was walking for a while; I know I don't necessarily smell like roses right now."

Jacob furiously shook his head "No you smell like Cullen, he..um… wears this really strong cologne that makes my nose burn. What were you doing with him?"

Jaden found himself the target of, not only Jacob's, but everyone's glare. His guide was practically bouncing with glee 'Damn her!'

"I got lost and found him in the woods, we talked a little and then he helped me find my way home."

Jacob gave him a hard look, finally he relaxed and pulled Jaden close again. "Alright fine but from now on stay away from him and his family, they are not who you think they are."

His guide couldn't hold her comment at Jacob's word ["Neither is he kitten, do not be fooled."]

"What happened green eyes, why did you run out like that?"

Jaden ducked his head in embarrassment "I was watching you guys together and it made me homesick. Honestly I was just going to step out and get some air but I wondered off a little farther than I planned."

Leah pushed Jacob out of the way and pulled Jaden close, she rocked his from side to side like a mother comforting a child. "It's alright Jade, I know it must be hard being away from everyone you know but you are a part of our family now too."

He was ashamed at the choked sniffle that escaped at Leah's simple comfort. She didn't seem to mind though as she pulled him into the house to finish up dinner. The rest of dinner flowed without incident and finally Jacob and Jaden made their way to his car with a chorus of goodbyes from the rest of the pack. A fog fell over his senses on the way home, the drive home and his trek to bed was completed completely on autopilot when he finally made it to bed Jaden pulled the heavy metal ball onto the bed. The ball floated between his outstretched hands.

He finally relaxed and let his barriers fall once again; letting his stress of the day flow into the metal he felt his guide purr in satisfaction.

["This is going to be good for you kitten, trust me. You may stumble on your journey here but I won't let you fall. Believe in me."]

["Of course mother."]

["I do like that song the girl was dancing to earlier. How did it go…oh yes I remember now. 'There's a she wolf in your closet. Awhooo! '"]

Jaden smiled at his guides howl and finally let the ball fall to the bed with a tired sigh, snuggling into his pillow he drifted off to sleep with his guides amused words echoing threw his thoughts.

["Cleaver girl, she practically gave it away."]
