Chapter 4: Extreme Home Makeover And Staff Meetings

Chapter 4: Extreme Home Makeover, And Staff Meetings
Ten days passed quickly, as they both knew they would. Hermione took one last look around her tiny London apartment and heaved a sigh of sadness. This apartment had carried her through university, her first alcohol, her first real kiss. And she knew it was time to leave. She shrunk all her bags and put them into her pocket, leaving the apartment furnished for the next tenant. She apparated to Hogsmede and started the journey to the gates of Hogwarts.

Severus Snape had tried, he really had tried, to get her out of his head, but it was difficult when the last ten days had consisted of him writing the course outlines and schedules for the classes. Her name kept cropping up for every new stinking first year dunderhead that was about to arrive at Hogwarts.
She was arriving today, he knew that much. As for when, the house elf assigned for staff arrival Totts would inform him of her arrival.

Hermione was so nervous. She stared at the gates of Hogwarts and felt a flood of memories and emotions come rushing back to her. Her laughing, studying, crying and fighting. Her life had been shaped and moulded here, and she owed all that she was today to the cold walls of the castle. She walked through the gates, charmed magically to recognise her signature as staff and let her through and when she made it to the doors of The Great Hall they opened to her and revealed a house-elf dressed in rags showing a rather large, gappy smile.

“Miss Granger, I is Totts and I is be showing you to your rooms please miss. Could miss please give her bags to Totts and I is taking them to your room?”
Hermione smiled and handed the elf her small charmed bags, with a click of Totts’ fingers they disappeared and Totts started showing Hermione the way to her room.

They arrived at a portrait of a rather snobbish witch who was shown in profile with her large nose in the air. The picture gave no reference to who this woman was, but she was clearly someone who thought she was of great importance.
“Password” She said, with an air of someone who thought their time was being wasted

“Unknown” Totts replied and the portrait swung forward and Totts lead Hermione through to a sitting room.

“Here it is miss. Your bags has been put away miss and you may decorate as you is pleased miss. You is needing anything?” She asked

“No thank you Totts I think ill just settle in. Thank you for helping me”

The elf squeaked at the praise and disappeared giving Hermione a chance to check out her quarters.

They were boring. Very boring. Cream and Eggshell coloured the place except for the brick fireplace in the sitting room. Her bedroom was the same. Even the armoire and dresser were a dull cream. The bathroom was impressive, with a bath made for at least seven people and a large glass shower inside it; it was still the same combination of boring whites. She walked back out and sat on her white loveseat and looked at her white coffee table, where a piece of rolled up parchment was the only thing adorning it.
“Miss Granger,
Welcome to Hogwarts. It is customary for staff to decorate their own rooms. To do so you simply tap the furniture with your want and concentrate on the colour. There is also a selection of additional shrunken furniture in the top drawer of your bedside table.
The first staff meeting has been moved forward and will be tomorrow night at 7.00pm in my office. You are required to attend and I request that you do not be late.

Severus Snape

Headmaster, Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry”

“Oh…cool” Hermione said, excitement already brimming at the idea of having her own furniture. She walked back into her bedroom and opened the first drawer of her bedside table. She noted that the furniture was categorised into office, lounge and bedroom. She decided to change her bedroom first. Selecting new furniture and placing it there. She then found her new bed, it was a massive California King Size bed and as she enlarged it she was amazed at how it looked. It was just the frame and mattress but it looked so comfortable, and when she sat on it, it was the perfect fit. The mattress hugged her and she felt as though she were sinking into heaven. She chose Egyptian cotton sheets and a goose feather quilt, as well as a few blankets which she left folded on the foot of the bed. She coloured her sheets and pillowcases a stark white and had her bedspread laced with Gryffindor Gold and Red. She decorated her wooden furniture with red oak stain and painted her walls a soft gold.

Her bathroom she left mostly white, but made towels and bathmats fire engine red

Her sitting room was designed with romantic reds and purples complimenting the dark brick fireplace. She chose a large bookcase to cover one wall and found that as soon as she enlarged it all her volumes stacked themselves alphabetically and neatly inside. She was exhausted after decorating and flopped down on her newly red lounge and put her feet up.
After 20 minutes of intense relaxing Hermione decided to take a walk around the castle, reminisce and familiarise herself with the classroom she would be working in as well as her office.

Snape decided to take a walk to the great hall, and make sure all the appropriate preparations were being made for the feast in 7 days time. He walked down the stair case at half his normal gait, revelling in the ability to not be tough and imposing all the time. His mind wandered as he walked the familiar path from office to hall and he was suddenly brought back to reality when some chit barged into him, startling him and causing her to fall right on her arse.

Her office was gorgeous, but messy, walls and walls of books and papers stacked high and disorganised and when she questioned the portraits in the room they simply shrugged and said that Filius had his own method of organisation and she should just find her own. She left the office muttering and walking fast trying to figure out and effective cataloguing system for the hundreds of books that covered ceiling to floor. So engrossed was she in her work that she wasn’t looking where she was going and slammed headfirst into a soft, warm, brick wall. She promptly fell flat on her ass and slowly raised her head to find out who she had hit.

“Miss Granger is there any particular reason why you felt the need to assault my person with no motive whatsoever?” his voice flowed over her like silk and as she climbed sheepishly from the floor

“I’m sorry Headmaster I wasn’t paying much attention, I was trying to discover a way to catalogue the volumes in my new office” she said, trying to avoid his glare.

He folded his arms and leaned casually against the wall. The simple gesture changed him completely; he was no longer an imposing giant but a slightly dangerous man.

“Any ideas so far?” he asked her, genuinely interested in her theories on Filius’ organised chaos. Even the house elves refused to touch it.

“I was thinking miniaturise and alphabetise, but upon further inspection not all of the books are in English, some are in Elvish, Mermish, Goblin, and all the ancient languages. I was considering categorising them via their language but they’re all on different topics too….”
He raised a hand and cut her off

“Miss Granger, Filius was notorious for his mess. For some reason wherever he went he left a trail of brilliance and destruction.” Snape smirked as he remember a house elf tentatively complaining about the mess Filius left in his rooms. All the house elves were ordered to voice any complaints or requests and they found this to be a bit of a paradox

“So then how do you suggest I organise it?” Hermione said, mirroring his casual stance, and looking him in the eye.

“I suggest that you organise it in whichever way you have organised your own private stores. Keep it all similar or the same because when you have it all different, that one day comes where its just not working for you and it all goes to shit.” He said smiling.

Hermione was shocked at his curse. But moreover that he was so casual with her. She supposed it was because he was now her boss and was trying to develop a working relationship. But in Hermione’s stomach was in knots, with butterflies and her heart was pounding a million miles an hour. She was nervous to talk to him; worried he would see into her mind and receive the images of her wrapped around his body, covered in a slick sheen of sweat.

“Thank you sir. I’ll try” Hermione said, making her move to leave for her rooms to eat dinner.

“You’re welcome. And Miss Granger, you don’t have to call me sir. Headmaster will do just fine. Use my title, I'm your boss now, not your teacher” He said, moving away from her. He saw her nod and made his exit before she somehow saw inside his mind and saw him thrusting into her, breathing heavily with her and sharing in her exquisite orgasm.
Hermione had roast beef and potatoes for dinner, she ate her meal in silence and wandered to bed in a daze, reliving each moment he spoke to her, the way his demeanour changed and he suddenly became comfortable.

At 7pm the following day Hermione was seated in the headmaster’s office, quill and parchment in hand, her legs crossed neatly and her hair tied up in a bun. She was shaking her foot impatiently as the staff slowly dwindled in and greeted her warmly. They asked her questions about her life after Hogwarts, how Harry and Ron were and general other questions about her life which she answered quickly, waiting for the headmaster to enter the room.
He came in sweeping robes and hurried apologies. He looked almost normal, his hair tucked behind one ear, and glasses perched on his rather angular nose made him look much less dangerous.

He addressed the staff and handed out timetables, course outlines and special case students. He told them all that the feast would be occurring in 7 days time and any questions about any of the material provided should be addressed to him before that time. As the meeting relaxed and became more informal, staff asking questions about feasts and upcoming students, gossiping about holidays spent in France and Spain he suddenly commanded their attention once more.
“I have almost forgotten it. As we know this year marks the fifth year since the fall of “He Who Was A Royal Pain In The Arse” and as such I have offered to host the festivities here. They will take place on the 24th of December, Christmas Eve and everyone and anyone is invited to attend, staff, students and general public included. It should be quite an evening.”
Hermione smiled at this, she knew that it would give her an excellent opportunity to converse with the staff and see some of her friends again. She was looking forward to it immensely, but first, she had to get into the swing of teaching.

The meeting slowly broke up as Hermione continued to scribble furious notes and questions on her parchment. She had asked all she could of her fellow professors and now required only one more opinion, the headmasters.

“Headmaster Snape?” She inquired quietly; he turned to her and raised his eyebrow, indicating that she should continue.

“Hi….I’ve gone through your subject outline and it doesn’t mention anything about practical exams, just theoretical, for first and second years, am I not allowed to perform them?” She inquired gently struggling to meet his eyes through her nerves.

“We generally do not perform practical exams for first and second year charms students, just for the reason that the examinable charms are few. However if you wish to perform these exams you may, although you must submit an exam schedule and all the charms must be submitted to me beforehand.” He replied to her his eyes performing their usual penetrative scan of her body. He seemed to have inherited Dumbledore’s ability to make the subject of their gaze feel like they were being x-rayed

She smiled at him and gave him her thanks. She left the headmasters office and strolled back to her rooms. Waiting for the week to run down so her first school term could begin
