Destiny

**I'm giving up the ghost of love

In the shadows cast on devotion.**

Lily stood in the graveyard, her long, dark red hair falling forward to hide her ivory face as she stared down on the twin headstones before her. She took a deep breathe, the bouquet of blood red roses clenched in her hands. She slowly raised her eyes across the flakes of snow drizzling down around her to the stone angel. One graceful hand raised to the gray heavens while the other reached towards the earth. Finally she let her breathe out and held out the roses.

“I know you’ve watched over him these long years and I know that you’ve protected him from a lot but I think it’s time to finally let him go,” Lily said as she tucked the roses between the headstones. She traced her own name carved into the stone before her.

“It’s time for us all to move on,” she smiled as her black fingernails stood out in stark contrast to the white marble of the headstone.

“Almost ready to go?” Scorpius called, walking towards her with Albus on his side, they had just come from visiting Lucius’ tomb.

“Yeah, I’m ready,” she smiled up at them before joining them on the path back to the car waiting for them.

**She's the one that I adore

Creed of my silent suffocation.**

“Add the dragon tears after the vertivert,” Draco grumbled, stopping Lily’s hand as she was about to tip over the small vial into the boiling mixture, she looked up into his eyes as he stood at her side, she looked around at the other people taking the final test for graduation, they were ignoring them.

“What are you doing Professor?” She hissed, looking back to him.

“Just making sure you get my job,” he smirked down on her before continuing on down the line of students. She stared after him in shock before blinking down on her cauldron, trying to will the tears to stay put. She finished her NEWT and continued back to her dorm room. She had taken Head Girl in her 7th year. It was strange, she was the only one out of her siblings that had achieved something notable. Scorpius had been Head Boy of his year, beating out Albus easily. James hadn’t even taken Quidditch Captain even though he had played on the Gryffindor team religiously. It was also strange to think that Professor Malfoy was going to recommend her as the next Potions Master, even above his own son. She took a deep breathe and sat down on her bed, completely lost in thought. It was strange how her life had worked out, she looked up as the fire hissed at her.

“So how’d you do?” Albus grinned at her through the fire as she plopped down on the chair in front of it.

“I think I did rather well,” she smirked in return.

“I know you did great!” Scorpius’ voice came through somewhere behind her brother. She laughed and curled her legs under her.

“Are you coming tonight?” She asked, excited.

“Wouldn’t miss it, just make sure you don’t get caught,” Albus warned her, she rolled her eyes.

“I have the Weasley blood flowing through my veins, we never get caught in mischievous ventures,” she told him.

“Just be careful and we’ll see you tonight,” Albus said his good byes and she went off to have dinner.

**Break this bittersweet spell on me,

Lost in the arms of destiny.**

“Draco? Have you seen my tie?” Harry called, digging through his bag, the tall blonde rolled his eyes as he picked up a deep burgundy tie from the overstuffed chair in his sitting room and handed it out to him.

“I don’t know if what the boys have planned is a good idea,” Harry murmured, grabbing the tie and putting it on, Draco shook his head, helping him tie it.

“You’ve done much worse things when you were here if I remember correctly,” Draco reminded him.

“Yeah but...” Harry trailed off.

“Just make sure that you have the right spells on hand if anything gets out of control,” Draco told him, pecking him on the cheek before getting dressed himself.

**Bittersweet.**

Lily stood between her brother and dad, the flames rising higher into the air. She was fascinated as the rest of them. She didn’t think all that war propaganda would burn so beautifully but most of it was spelled with “look at me” charms and “Believe everything here” spells. Scorpius was kneeling as he sifted through the copies of the Daily Prophet before tossing them in with the rest. Draco was standing off by himself, his arms wrapped around his torso as he searched through the curling, browning pages for the countless numbers of moving pictures of his father, there were more of Potter in among the swirling words. His father stared back at him with that haunting, intense scowl as he slowly burned.

“He’s gone,” Harry breathed, falling in next to him, he looked over at the one true constant in his life. The man that had dragged him out of hell over and over again.

“Yeah but never completely,” Draco replied.

“Nobody’s gone completely,” Harry pointed out. Lily started laughing as she twirled around before grabbing Albus’ hands and pulling him along as they skipped around the huge fire. He grabbed his dad’s hand as he past and all of them danced around the fire.

**I won't give up; I'm possessed by her.

I'm bearing the cross; she's turned into my curse.**

“Lily Luna Potter, you have exceeded all of our expectations,” the Headmistress held out Lily’s diploma to her.

“Thank you Headmistress,” Lily answered, accepting her diploma and smiling up at her. She waved her black fingernails at her chosen family before walking to her spot next to the Headboy on the stage and sitting down. Harry was sitting next to Scorpius and Albus while on the other end of the crowd sat Ginny and the rest of the Weasley clan along with James. Hermione and Draco stood next to each other with the faculty. It had been a huge blow out with the clan bitterly divided when Lily went to live with Scorpius and Albus. Hermione had been the only bridge between the two sides.

“So how does it feel?” Harry asked after giving her a big bear hug when everyone was dismissed into the world.

“Great,” she grinned up at her dad before turning to her brother.

“You know...you don’t have to take the internship at Hogwarts,” he pointed out.

“Potions is what I’m good at,” Lily smirked at Draco who smiled in return.

“Just remember that it’s only a year long and then I’m out of here,” Draco reminded her. He had wanted to leave a long time ago from Hogwarts but they couldn’t find a suitable replacement for him.

**Break this bittersweet spell on me,

Lost in the arms of destiny,

Bittersweet, I want you (I'm only wanting you)

And I need you (i'm only needing you)**

“Lily! How long are you going to be?” Albus called as he rummaged through laundry in his bedroom, his sister walked in with a grin on her face.

“At least three hours, that should give you and Scorpius enough time to do whatever you want,” she teased as she hurriedly pulled on fishnet sleeves and straightened her short pleated black skirt with little silver skulls on the buttons.

“Just make sure you take care of yourself. We’re giving you this responsibility, if you can’t handle it,” Albus trailed off, looking her from head to toe. She looked like a goth princess, her long deep red hair piled on top of her head with little skulls peaking out. A black choker wrapped around her long, ivory neck and her make up wasn’t extravagant but tasteful with black eyeliner and sheer purple lipgloss. Her bodice was black linen and she also wore intimidating black combat boots.

“Don’t worry, I’ll kick them in the ass if they come near me and Rosie will be there,” Lily struck a fighting pose, Albus rolled his eyes.

“More like she’ll be in a corner with a different guy every ten minutes, keep an eye on her to, would you? I don’t want Aunt ‘Mione on my ass for this either,” Albus turned to grab more clothing from the hamper to sort just as the doorbell rang.

“It’s not my fault she’s a slut,” Lily called as she went to go answer the door.

“Hey, help me with the groceries,” Scorpius panted, carrying in food, Lily went down to the car to grab some as Rose appeared next to her with a crack, she giggle at her cousin.

“Grab some,” Lily grunted as she pulled more bags of food out, the crimson red head rolled her eyes and crawled into the car to help as Scorpius walked down.

“Oh how all the female population wept the day you came out of the closet,” Rose cried as he walked towards them. Scorpius’ hair was messily spiked with an expensive forest green button down shirt to offset his pale complexion and give a green tint to his intense gray eyes, complete with khaki slacks and black loafers. He shook his head, giving her a sexy amused smirk as he reached for a sack right next to her.

“Don’t worry Rosie, you’ll find a guy just like me someday for your very own,” he told her, straightening up.

“And dump him the next day like all the rest,” Lily called as she headed back to the apartment.

“I think we should get going soon,” Rose huffed as she sat the last of the groceries on the counter.

“Yeah, it’s getting dark, bye Al!” Lily called as she went to the door, her cousin following.

“Have fun,” he called back, she waved at Scorpius before disappearing out the door. He shook his head and went back to putting away food.

Break this bittersweet spell on me,

Lily took a deep breathe before dunk her head under water, slowly she opened her eyes and stared at the bottom of the pool before letting her body slip down below the surface. Her red hair turned a deep black as she swam down to the bottom and ran her fingers around until she found the secret latch and pulled. Bubbles flew around her as she pulled herself down into the darkness, she looked up at the bright lights of the Prefect bathroom before they disappeared out of her view.

She swam further down, thankful that she had remembered the gilly weed. She felt the current flow down under fingers and leveled herself into it, letting it carry her along until she was deposited into a room, the water flowing down into a grate as she took deep breathes to calm herself. Finally she lifted herself up and looked around the dark room before climbing to her bare feet. Marble statues stared down on her as she tried to keep her calm, finally she made it to the end where an empty throne of simple white wood sat. She looked up at the rays of pure afternoon sunlight streamed down to light up the ethereal throne.

“I know you’re there...why have you brought me here?” She called.

“Destiny,” voices, many voices whispered around her, she shook her head, resisting the urge to grab at her ears.

“What about my brothers? Why me?” She called.

“You are the one to carry on our legacy as Albus Dumbledore has done before you,” the voices continued.

“But I’m-” she broke off, shaking her head.

“You are the one, no one else,” the voices continued on for what seemed like for ever as she ran from the throne.

**Bittersweet.**

Song is by Apocalyptica, Bittersweet. Lol, I thought about making the following chapters a separate story but couldn't bring myself to be that evil...so you'll just have to find out what happens next...Oh and don't worry, it'll still be centered around Albus and Scorpius.
