Epilogue

Ten Years Later…

Harry walked into Hermione’s apothecary shop, Eliza helping her little brother James even as Sirius was helping Rose. Draco smiled from his potion lab’s doorway, making the nine-year-old girl’s heart melt a bit. She found out from her mother that all Malfoy men had that effect on women. As a result she had been trying to make Scorpius smile at her in order to see if this were a fact. Eliza was about to ask if his son was there, when James started trying to get away from her.

Remus came out from the back scooping up Rose who was showing all the signs of tiring out. This was no shock as the girl was so new to walking.

“How far did they have you walk today, pup?” he cooed to the little girl, who curled up on his chest.

Sirius rolled his eyes saying, “Only from the apparition point on the corner!”

Lupin laughed, rubbing her back. “He doesn’t know that it feels like miles to you!” He tickled the little girl who squealed with joy.

Neville came out a moment later from his greenhouse, smiling and greeting Harry.

“Where’s Hermione?”

“About to pull her hair out in the office,” he said.

“Invoices?” he asked and received a nod.

“Okay you four need to behave and pay attention to the adults here while I go to see if I convince your mother to hire a manager yet again,” he announced. “That means no flirting with Scorpius for scientific reasons…”

“Dad!” she exclaimed.

“I was telling that to Rose, dearest,” he said, making Sirius snort with laughter. “And no stealing potion ingredients in order to see if you can turn your siblings purple.” He was looking pointedly at his oldest son. “I mean it.”

“Yes, sir,” he muttered, putting back what he already took as he knew that his pockets would be searched later.

He went into the back, walking past the greenhouse that she had built for Neville straight over to the large office. Harry opened the door just as his wife let out a growl of frustration as she looked down at the numbers.

Walking over to her he asked her, “Why do you do this to yourself?”

He pulled over a footstool that he had bought for her years before and sat down on it, pulling her feet into his lap. He took off her shoes and began to massage them. Hermione let out a long sigh at the feel of his hands on her.

Leaning back, she murmured, “Luna offered to manage the store.”

“But?” he asked.

“The last time I left her here in charge, I was finding snargle traps for ages!”

He let a snort of laughter slip before he asked, “Well, what if I told you that I knew of someone that would look after the shop that is an excellent brewer…”

“A master?”

“Of course, my love,” he murmured. “And this individual has vast knowledge of plants and herbs, as has experience at taking charge.”

“Who is this paragon of virtue?” she asked him dryly.

Snape came into the office, muttering to himself that they were worse than the Weasleys. Her eyes narrowed at him, looking over to Harry. “Him?”

“Mrs. Potter, the last thing I wish is for you to think that I want this employment. It was your husband that came to me and pleaded with me to take this position.” He sneered at her. “Pregnant again? How very…Weasley of you.”

Hermione got to her feet and waddled over to him. “How very lovely to see you as well. Are you still leading that empty shell of an existence? Just how many times did you polish your Order of Merlin so far today?”

“Twelve,” he said with a smile that he was trying to hide, but failing to do so. “How are you? Did you take your potions?”

“Yes,” she said with a smile. “Did you hear? We finally are getting the twins we’ve been working for.”

“So I’ve heard,” he stated, helping her back to the chair. “I have also heard that you are on strict bed rest. What are you doing here?”

“Well…” She sighed. “Bill and Charlie came over to the house again. They tried to apologize…”

“They what?” Harry snapped.

“You know they are happily married as am I,” she told him with a kiss. “Now be a dear and see what has Eliza screaming at Sirius at the top of her lungs.” The moment Harry left the room, she exclaimed, “I’m so bored at the house! When I began to count ceiling tiles, I knew I had to get out of there.” She rubbed her back. “I also wanted to be closer to St. Mungos. I’ve been in labor since noon.”

It was Hermione’s scream for Harry that had him running back to the office. He found her kneeling next to Severus who was out cold on the floor.

“What happened?” he asked her.

“He fainted!” she exclaimed.

He looked from the former potions professor over to his loveable wife. “How long have you been in labor?”

She looked at him in awe. “How did you know?”

Harry went over to her, pulling her to her feet. “Severus is a former Death Eater, Hermione. He’s seen and done things no one should have to. But the man is terrified of women about to give birth.” He shrugged. “So just how long have you been in labor?”

“Since noon…” He scooped her up and carried her out of the office.

Three hours later Lilly and Minerva Potter were born. Harry held Hermione, stroking her hair back from her face as she fed one of the babies. The other new born was resting on his chest, quietly mewing. She turned to look up at her husband with a smile.

“We make pretty good kiddies,” he murmured.

“Yeah, but this factory is shut down for production,” she whispered, making him chuckle.

A moment later their family came into the room. There were flowers and well wishes. Their children moved closer, Eliza introducing Rose to the girls as Sirius told James that there were even more girls in the house. Sirius laughed even as he was trying to get over to his mother. Harry caught him easily setting him between them. Rose began to protest and Hermione moved the baby to the other side and wrapped her arm around her other daughter. Kissing her head, she rubbed her back.

“Eliza, love, when we get to the house…” Hermione said, but yawned. “You’re aunties Tonks and Luna are going to be coming over to help out. So you won’t have to worry about anything…”

“But I just organized it!”

Harry leaned over and whispered to his wife. “Were you ever like that?”

“Only with books,” she muttered. “And even then, not at age nine.”

“They won’t touch your space, poppet,” Remus told her. “I promise.”

Eliza went over to Remus, and got a bear hug from her godfather. Hermione looked over to Remus and mouthed a thank you to him. He smiled as he ruffled the little girl’s hair and gave the new mother a nod. Soon the group left Harry and Hermione alone so that the new parents could rest. Harry had the crib with both babies right next to them and Hermione in his arms.

Kissing her forehead, he murmured, “Thank you for giving me a family.”

She opened her eyes and looked into his green orbs. “We gave it to each other.” Kissing his mouth lightly, she added, “So what now, Mr. Potter?”

Smiling he leaned his forehead against hers. “Hmm, the world is our oyster, correct?”

“Very much so.”

“A nap seems to be in order,” he sighed.

With a soft contented murmur of agreement, Hermione Potter closed her eyes and fell asleep.

The End!
