Half of Nothing
Chapter 5: Half of Nothing
Chapter Summary: Don’t you hate it when you get halfway through a story only to find that that’s all there is?
“Monsieur, would you care for another glass of wine?”
“No thank you, Garçon. I think we are fine with what we have.” Draco addressed the waiter briefly and quickly so that he could spend as much time, alone, with Harry as possible.
“So, Draco, you asked me to this perfect dinner and I feel a bit swept off my feet. Here we are in Paris, the most romantic city in the world, and you’ve been nothing but wonderful. I didn’t know that places liked this exist, a wizarding restaurant that floats, invisible above the Paris skyline. It is breathtaking. If you don’t mind, I do have to ask you a question, though. Why did you invite me here?”
Draco had been drinking some of his expensive red wine while Harry had been talking, but as Harry asked his question, he slowly lowered his glass to the table. In the silence, he stared at Harry a bit more, not letting the brunet’s eyes waver from his. He wanted to make sure that Harry had his complete attention on Draco.
Then, after a few sexually charged moments, Draco began. “Well, I’m sure you have noticed in the past year we have overcome our animosity toward each other and have been quite good friends. You have opened my eyes to the potential and even wonder of the Muggle world, and you have made me see things I normally would not have noticed. In fact, I don’t think I’ve had a friend that I feel so comfortable with than I do when we are together. In the past year, I have become a better man, Harry, and I know it is because of you.”
At the compliment, Harry lowered his head and began to blush a beautiful red. His heart began to race a little faster, because if he was honest with himself, he would admit that more than anything he wanted to be more than just friends with the blond across the table from him. But Draco’s intense stare roused him from his thoughts.
“So, after thinking about it, I realized something about myself. I realized that I have become fond of you. Well, I think fond is an understatement. I would have to say that my feelings for you are more than platonic. They have become amorous and full of desire. And so I brought you here to see if we could be more than ‘just friends’.” Draco said the last two words while making odd quotation marks in the air with his fingers.
After hearing what his secret heart desired, Harry lifted his eyes and smiled with a brilliance that took Draco’s breath away. In a quiet voice, he softly said, “I would like that, Draco.”
In return, Draco smiled back at Harry; his heart was pounding so loud in his chest he almost didn’t hear the other man. He was so elated to hear that his feelings were returned that he got up from his seat, leaned across the table, and as his lips came in proximity to Harry’s mouth …
