Chapter 5

~Chapter 5~

Draco Malfoy was not prepared for the sight that greeted him when he rushed into the dining room with Hermione hot on his heels. A part of him wanted to tear that little shit of Krum’s up into little pieces while another wanted to cheer his son on.

Scorpius Dante Malfoy was currently slapping the shit out of Aleksander Krum. The corners of Draco’s mouth turned upwards into a smirk as he saw his son’s fist fly across the boys face. The loud scream must have come from Aleks when Scorpius first attacked him. Draco was definitely going to take his son out and buy him anything he wanted tomorrow. Draco could see from here that the boy’s face was going to be bruised tomorrow.

Draco’s moment of pride was interrupted by Hermione slapping him on the shoulder. “Draco! Don’t just stand there; pull that little monster off my son!” Draco was about to retort with a smart comment but the stern look on Hermione’s face told him to save it.

“This is not over, Mia. Our conversation is not over, know that,” Draco said with menace as he walked over towards the two fighting boys. He approached them and watched as Hermione’s little shit of a son didn’t even bother to put up a fight. He just screamed and whined like a little baby. How in the hell does a boy younger than you and smaller than you whip your ass on the dining room table? Draco chuckled before reaching down and pulling his son up by the nape of the collar.

Scorpius continued to swing even as Draco held him suspended in the air by his collar. “Scorpius, son, it’s me. Stop fighting.” Scorpius opened his eyes and looked at his dad before burying his face in Draco’s neck. Draco kissed the top of his head and whispered into Scorpius’ mind, ‘I’m so proud of you son.’

“Draco, why the hell was your child beating my child at the dinner table where they should have been eating, and where the hell is Cassandra. She should have stopped them!” Hermione said in outrage.

Draco sent her a playful smirk, “Hermione Granger, watch your language around the children.”

“Hermione Krum and Draco, I’m not playing. Answer my question.”

Draco opened his mouth to answer her but Scorpius turned around in his arms and answered for him “I’ll tell you. He was talking about my sister. He called her dumb and ugly. And then he said some stuff that I couldn’t understand cause it wasn’t in English,” Scorpius said looking at his dad. “You know Daddy like when you and Cassy speak Spanish really fast and I can’t keep up or when you talk to Uncle Blaise in Italian. I didn’t know what he was saying.”

“I know son. Aleks was probably speaking Bulgarian. He learned it from his daddy.”

“I didn’t understand him, but I knew he was talking about me and my sister. I told him to stop but he didn’t. Then he threw his fork at her and it hit her in the face. Cassy ran away from the table. I told him that it wasn’t nice because you said it wasn’t nice to throw things at people. He told me to shut up then he called her some bad words. I told him to be quiet, and he didn’t so I decided to make him be quiet.”

Draco was about to praise his son again, but Hermione cut him off. “Draco, I seriously hope that you are going to punish that ingrate of yours.”

“I’m not an ingrate Miss Mia. I’m a Malfoy man, and Malfoy men aren’t ingrates,” Scorpius said with strong conviction. His arms crossed his chest daring her to say otherwise. Draco had never been more proud in his life.

“I will punish my son Mia, when you punish yours for throwing a fork at your daughter.”

“I’m sure Aleks didn’t mean it,” Hermione said as she cradled the spoiled boy to her chest.

“See it is this attitude right here that explains why Cassandra will be living with me until further notice. You can fight and yell at me all you want Mia, but it is not going to change. Sorry.”

“You know what, whatever. Fine, let her stay with you. I’m taking my son and leaving.”

“Hermione, I don’t know what the hell is wrong with you, but you need to get some help. This is getting ridiculous. Your son throws dangerous objects at your daughter, and you have the nerve to say nothing! Get out of my house. You are not welcome until you get your shit together, and I seriously mean that.”

Hermione huffed and puffed before walking towards the floo. Her head was held high, but Draco felt that it should hang low in shame. Her actions right now were inexcusable.

After ensuring that Cassy was okay, Draco put both of his children to bed and went to have a drink in his office. As he stared into the flames he remembered the day when Hermione changed. If he knew what he knew now, he might have tried to stop the damn wedding.

Draco waited around the corner until he was sure that all of the women were out of the room before he walked in. He found Hermione in her wedding dress staring at the mirror. She had never looked more beautiful in her life. Draco wished it was him that she was walking down the aisle towards today instead of that idiot Krum.

Hermione turned around and looked at him. “Draco, what the hell are you doing in here?”

“Hermione, are you sure you’re doing the right thing?”

“Draco, I know that I am. He loves me and I love him.”

“Mia, are you in love with him? Do you love him like you love him?”

“How dare you?! I am getting married in less than 20 minutes, and you have the nerve to come in here and ask me do I love Viktor. Yes, I love him. I am in love with him, and no I don’t love him like I loved you. I love him more,” Hermione said.

Draco felt as if she had taken his heart and crushed it in his hands. The thought that his Mia could love that ugly Bulgarian rat more than she loved him made his stomach roll in disgust. “Mia, why the hell are you marrying him? You don’t love him. Just leave with me. We can take Cassy and leave.”

“No, so all of a sudden you want me to leave with you Draco. What about that night with your mom? Why didn’t you say anything then? You don’t love me Draco. I was foolish to think that you did.”

Draco fell to his knees and looked up at her. He couldn’t help the tear that came out of his eyes. The woman that he loved more than life, the woman who convinced him to change sides in the war, the woman who was the mother of his child was marrying somebody else. He didn’t know if there was anything that he could do to change it either. “Mia, I love you so much so much. More than you can ever know. Please, I’m on my knees begging you, don’t do this. Come home with me and Cassy and we can figure this out.”

Hermione walked over to him and took his head in her hands. She pulled it to her body feeling Draco wrap his arms around her legs as much as he could with her puffy dress in the way. “No Draco, we can’t.”

“Hermione, don’t say that,” he said as he buried his face into the white gown. “We can leave here. Leave that man at the altar. We can take our daughter and leave. Nobody has to know where we go. We can just leave. Mia, baby please. I love you. I just- I just- baby please don’t walk down the altar.” His face was streaked with tears as he looked into Hermione’s eyes; begging her not to walk down that aisle.

“Draco, I’m sorry.” She leaned down and kissed him on the forehead. Draco felt a weight drop into his lap. He looked down to see the engagement ring he gave her laying in his lap. He watched as she gathered her flowers and walked down the aisle.

Draco decided to skip the wedding and just go to the reception…piss drunk. However, Draco Malfoy was not a sloppy drunk; he was a dignified drunk, if that was even possible. He walked into the reception right after Hermione and Viktor did. His took his seat next to Blaise, who looked at him like he was crazy. “For real, Drake? Are you drunk?”

“So what if I am Blaise. I have a reason to be. The mother of my child just married someone else?”

“Well whose fault is that?”

“Don’t start with me Zambini. Just cause you and the She-Weasel are fucking doesn’t mean you get to change sides.”

“Drake, I’ve always been on your side, but that doesn’t excuse your actions.”

“Shut up, Red is making a toast.”

“Ever since the Yule Ball when these two showed up hand in hand, we knew that Viktor was something amazing. Hermione is an awesome guy and Viktor is very lucky to have her. I hope you know that. Now don’t be trying to drag her off to your Motherland, Bulgaria is far away and if you try, you will have to answer to me. To the bride!” Ginny said with a smile as she raised her glass.

“What about the groom,” someone asked in the room.

“Oh yeah, him too,” Ginny said as she took a sip of her drink and flashed a dazzling smile. She winked at Blaise before taking her seat.

“You know Blaise, Red may not be so bad after all. In fact that was very Slytherin like of her to diss the groom at his own damn reception. She’s got my vote for keeps,” Draco said as she took a sip of her drink.

Draco took another sip of the firewhiskey in his hand as he reminisced about that day. Hermione didn’t call to check on Cassy throughout her entire honeymoon. She didn’t call Ginny to discuss how the wedding was or the honeymoon when she returned. She suddenly became cold and only spent time with Viktor.

Although Ginny didn’t show it, Draco knew that she was hurt by Hermione’s actions. Ginny helped Hermione plan the whole damn wedding down to the minutest detail, but once the ring was on her finger, Hermione completely ignored her. In fact, there were barely any pictures of Hermione with Ginny, the Weasleys or hell Cassandra, but there were thousands of Hermione and Krum’s mother, and distant cousin.

Hermione barely spoke more than two words to any of them at the wedding. Every time they saw her she was holding on to Viktor and showing off her ring. Not once did she stop to say hello to any of them.

She spent more time with his family than she did the Weasleys opting to spend Christmas and Thanksgiving with the Krums. She became harsher towards Cassy, punishing her for the smallest infractions. But worse, she became cold towards Draco.

She didn’t call him Dray anymore. She only spoke to him when it was dealing with Cassandra. No more questions of how his day was or about his job. She was strictly business. She was so cold and dispassionate, definitely not the Mia he knew.

Draco got up and moved to his bedroom. He had a long day ahead of him tomorrow. He could no longer put up with Astoria’s bullshit. His children had to come first now. He was going to have her shit returned to her parents, kick her out and blame it all on her infidelity. Tomorrow was going to be a brand new day. Looking at the watch next to his bed, he changed that statement. Today is going to be a brand new day.

A/N: No I haven’t abandoned this story. I just got done with school and I just got back in town. This story will be finished although right now I’m stumbling in the direction that I want it to go. Bear with me and let me know what you think. Thank you for the reviewers and thanks for the hits. Since I’m watching the Grudge while I post this, I will simply say Arigato. LOL.
